Stampin' Up! Kinda Eclectic & Shabby Chic

So, how many of you are in LOVE with the new Kinda Eclectic stamp set found on page 164 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual catalog?  This was one of the stamp sets we received for free as a Convention attendee...YEAH!!  I tell ya', it was extremely difficult to refrain buying it before that time.  Pure torture!!  Several weeks ago I held a Kinda Eclectic stamping class, and I swear that I heard squeaks and squeals from the ladies stamping with this set.  LOL!  I decided to re-introduce the makings of an Easel card and to go Shabby Chic...my favorite style.  LOVE it!!!

 

 Are you ready for the card recipe?  Here you go....

• Crumb Cake card base measures the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" with the fold across the top.
• Take the largest Labels Collection Framelit die and place the die on the cardstock base as described in the picture to the right.
• After die-cutting, lay the top layer down with the fold to the left side on your Simply Scored Tool and score at 1-3/4".
• Using the same largest Labels Collection Framelit, die-cut a single Crumb Cake layer using the same placement per instructions in image.
• Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue and glue together only the bottom portion of the single layer to the top layer (glue should only be added to the cardstock below the score line).
• Take the 2nd to the largest framelit and die-cut 2 pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock (measuring 4" x 3-3/4").
• Ink up the 'sunburst' in Soft Suede, stamp off onto a scrap paper, then stamp directly to the Very Vanilla cardstock.  Ink up the leaves in Mossy Meadow ink, stamp off onto scrap paper, then stamp directly to the Very Vanilla cardstock.
• Punch 2 flowers from the wonderful Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper using the Blossom Punch (discounted on this week's Weekly Deals) and sponge the edges with Soft Suede.  Use paper snips to slice up each flower petal and then ruffle them up.  Add Stampin' Dimensionals between each flower layer and don't align the petals....rotate the top layer.
• Punch a 1" Circle from Hello Honey cardstock and papersnip it all the way around....then sponge with Soft Suede ink.  Add some Linen thread to a Very Vintage Designer Button and use Stampin' Glue Dots to add to the Hello Honey circle.  Use Multipurpose Liquid glue to adhere to the flower piece.
• Banner cut a piece of 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon and some Naturals 5/8" Chevron Ribbon and glue in place.
• Add some Linen Thread
• Add more Stampin' Dimensionals to the Blossom Flower decoration and set in place.
• Sponge the edges of both Very Vanilla Labels dies and the edges of the Crumb Cake cardbase with Soft Suede ink.

 

• Stamp the largest butterfly from the set in Hello Honey and punch out with the Elegant Butterfly punch.  Fold (slightly) in half and only add liquid glue to the folded area.  This is so the wings will be the point of contact when the card is propped up like an easel.  VOILA!!

Stamping Off Technique Fun Tip:  The leaves you see stamped on the inside were a result of stamping off once to get the darker tone you see, then immediately stamped again to get the lighter.  Therefore, I inked up the rubber stamp one time, but stamped 3 times.  Once on scrap paper, 2nd time on the Very Vanilla layer, then a 3rd time just below the first stamped image.

Coloring Vivid Vases with Stampin' Up! Blendabilities

So, how many of you have dropped everything to get your hands on Stampin' Up!'s new Blendabilities markers?  ME, ME, ME (arm raised in the air anxiously awaiting for the teacher to pick me to answer the question)!  LOL  And, of course, I couldn't just stop at one set....they are like your favorite candy...very addicting and so much fun to play with.  I held a Blendabilities class a few weeks ago, and everyone was certainly "WOW'd" with ease of using them.  My favorite part was watching their expressions go from 'Hmmmm, I'm not sure about this because I have no clue what I'm doing' to the best expression "OMG!  This is so cool!  Look at me....I can color!"  LOVE it!!

 I've listed the card recipe for you....

• Basic Black card base measures the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" with the fold across the top.
• Layered some luscious Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler
• Positioned the Coastal Cabana layer that was die cut using the Deco Collection Framelit onto the Typeset Specialty paper
• Wrapped some of the beautiful Venetian Crochet Trim and tied in a pretty bow to one side.
• Stamped the Vivid Vases stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  Colored in the vases and blooms using a variety of Blendabilities markers and punched out the image with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.  Layered onto Basic Black cardstock that was die cut using the Circles Collection Framelits. Added dimensionals and set in place.
• The sentiment is part of the Vivid Vases stamp, but I only inked up the words using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock.  After coloring the vase and flowers with my Daffodil Delight Blendabilities marker, it resembled Crushed Curry.  ;)
• Added a extra touch with some Basic Pearls,
• and, there you have it!

 

BLENDABILITIES COLORING TIP:  Be careful when coloring on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I discovered that the more blending I did, the more the color would 'seep' or 'bleed' outside of the lines of the stamped image where I started with my dark Blendability marker.  Click on the image to see what I mean.  I suggest that you leave a smidgin of 'white' space between the dark color and the lines of the stamped image to allow for 'bleeding' to occur.  Personally, I think the 'bleeding' gave the vases a vintage/mossy look, but I know there are a lot of stampers that much prefer the clean look.

Stampin' Polka Dots for a Blooming Birthday

Have you ever had a time where you feel that a particular technique is all that you do each time you start a stamp project?  That's me!!  Once I started working with stencils...EVERYTHING is getting stencilled!  LOVE it....soooo easy and fun!  I'm in desperate need of birthday cards and the new the Flower Patch photopolymer stamp set (and my stencils, of course) came together quite beautifully.  But, let me first show you the card I found on Pinterest I used as inspiration.

What was THEN inspiration.....

So, what do you think? Let's walk through the transformation together....

• Whisper White card base measures the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" with the fold down the left side.
• The next Whisper White layer (3-5/8" x 5-1/8") features the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks.  Using a Stampin' sponge and Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, I set the mask in place and sponged ink in all of the circle openings at the upper half of this layer.  I did concentrate to make sure that I had strong circle outlines while sponging the mask.
• To add a little sparkle and bling, I used my 2-Way Glue Pen to each large marked circle and added Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.
• Before adding the sponged layer to the Blackberry Bliss matte layer, I die cut the larger Flower Fair Framelit.  Neat trick when you don't have scraps or don't want to cut into a new full sheet of cardstock.  I call it 'stealing' because no one is ever gonna know when you put the sponged layer on top!  Teehehe
• I added a strip of Soft Sky cardstock that was die cut using one of the Finishing Touches edgelits.  Then added a piece of Soft Sky 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and Silver Metallic Baker's Twine to present a defined sentiment area.  The sentiment comes from the Flower Patch stamp set, inked with Blackberry Bliss and stamped in place. 
• The main focal point is the Flower Patch layers....the top layer is stamped and inked with Soft Sky and Blackberry Bliss, die cut using the coordinating Flower Fair Framelit and popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals. onto the 'stolen' Blackberry Bliss die cut.  Add a Rhinestone Jewel to the center and pop it up on the card with more dimensionals, and you've got a WOW card.
• MASKING TIP:  Be careful when sponging so that your mask doesn't slip a bit....then your circles will look a bit wonky and not a vivid circle shape.  Use Blue Painter's tape to hold the stencil in place on your work surface to avoid it slipping out of place.
