A Day Filled With Thanksgiving

LotsOfThanks-AutumnAccentsHeader-Lori-9570

Although Thanksgiving is recognized on one single day in November, I try to spend each and every day expressing my thanks and gratitude for everything I have in my life...my family, my friends, and all of the new connections I make when sharing my love of paper crafting with you.  Being creative is soothing for the soul, and I am SO thankful that you stop by to visit me.  Today's card share is inspired by Ronda Wade and was the stamping project that all of Lori's Dream Team family of Demonstrators made during our October meeting.

LotsOfThanks-AutumnAccents-Lori-9568

Creative Recipe

  • Tone-on-Tone cardstock colors is simple and elegant.  Dry embossing the Crumb Cake layer with the Woodgrain folder, sponged with some Baked Brown sugar, really enhances the woodsy ambiance.  All atop a Crumb Cake card base.
  • Texture!  LOVE it!....and have to have texture with the leaves.  The new 2014-2016 In Color (Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist, and Mossy Meadow) are the perfect shades to help decorate the woodgrain layer.  After die cutting the Autumn Accent leaves, I wadded each leaf in a ball, unravelled, then wadded them up into a ball, again.  Repeat this process several times to get just the right amount of wrinkled texture.  Of course we need to have a little sparkle and bling...Champagne Glimmer Paper and the smallest leaf make a beautiful accent.
  • The Perfect Sentiment.  This sentiment from the Lots of Thanks stamp set really hit the spot when I expressed to my Dream Team just how much I have enjoyed stamping with them, strengthening our friendships, and chatting with them via all sorts of communication channels.  I truly have a wonderful Stampin' Up! family....Lori's Dream Team!

Stampin' Ribbon of Hope with Work of Art

WorkOfArtBlush-Lori-9551

After a long week of snow, ice and below freezing weather, today's sunshine brought us some happy hours of 35 degrees.  WooHOOO!  The only good thing about the bitter cold weather is that it is much easier to stay indoors to play with my stamps, ink and paper.  Teehehehe  Today's card share is the last card from my Stamp Out Breast Cancer class.  I 'borrowed' another card layout from Selene Kempton, but this time I changed the orientation and added a couple of brush strokes and dry embossing, and VOILA!  I do have to say that this one is my all-time favorite of the bunch.

WorkOfArtBlushRibbon-Lori-9546

  • Cherry Cobbler is such a rich color by itself, and adding the crispness of Whisper White makes me think of a ballroom gown....don't know why (LOL)...simply exquisite!
  • Learning to improvise just adds to the fun of being creative. For instance, check out the Blushing Bride Ribbon of Hope....stamped with one of the Work of Art images....simple and amazing!
  • LOVE the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder and how it adds a subtle level of dimension...all with the help of my dearest friend....the Big Shot Die-cutting Machine!
  • Another tool that is never absent from my creation station are our wonderful punches. They definitely make life a whole lot easier.  A couple of Blossom Punches make a wonderful frame for the sentiment. Stamp sets are Daydream Medallion (inked in Blushing Bride) and Something to Say (inked in Cherry Cobbler).
  • Ribbons are my favorite accessory (one might even say that I hoard my ribbons...LOL) and the 1/4" Whisper White Cotton Ribbon is YUM-MEEEEE! Just the right touch of softness to fit the tone of this card.

You know, Cancer sucks, and there are NUMEROUS types of cancer, having a variety of colors.  The most exciting part about this card is that the Ribbon of Hope ink color can be altered to recognize and support of any particular type of cancer.  If you know of someone recently diagnosed or has been fighting the battle....make them a set of Thank You cards....not only will it put a smile on the patient's face, but they will be able to send out a gesture of thanks for any and all support they have received from family and friends.  Whether it be bringing over home cooked meals, driving them to Dr. appointments, helping clean the house or mow the yard, or any other helpful deed, this card alone will surely express an overwhelming "Thank You" for all your support.

There is a list of awareness ribbons and the meaning behind the awareness ribbon depends on its color or colors. Many groups have adopted ribbons as symbols of support or awareness, and as a result, many causes often share each color. Some causes may also be represented by more than one color.  For a quick reference of the ribbon colors and their significance, click here.

Sharing the Love of Handmade Greeting Cards

Just last week, I hit the 'top of the hill' with the nice round figure of the BIG 5-0. Holy Mackrel!  Where did that week go?  The older I get the faster time flys by me.  Eeeek!  I have to say that one of my most favorite things about Stampin' Up! is the many friendships and crafting buddies I have made over the years.  I have been blessed with so many friends who share my passion for creating handmade greeting cards and then shower friends and loved ones on special occasions.  Today, I am sharing the shower of love I received in my mailbox.

Lori50thBday-BonnieBake-9534

I love the triple stamp technique using the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set...one of my favorite sets that is fitting for any occasion.

Lori50thBday-ElizabethThatcher-9543

I need to try creating a monochromatic card (only using one neutral and one solid color).  Thank you for introducing me to the stamp set World of Dreams!  Thinking Elizabeth was using black to signify "Over The Hill" in a subtle way.  LOL!!  LOVE it!

Lori50thBday-KarenPage-9529

One of my favorite things is to create 'frames' with our framelits....I think the Deco Labels Framelits are my favorite.  Pretty-pretty!

Lori50thBday-KimQuade-9533

Look how easy it is to create a CAS (Clean And Simple) card using Washi Tape.  You can whip up a set of All Occasion cards with the help of the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set in nothing flat....perfect for gift-giving!

Lori50thBday-LizMiller-9538

I haven't gotten the Flowering Flourishes stamp set, yet (it's on my wish list), but Sassy Salutations is one of my go-to sentiment sets.  It's fitting for and handful of occasions.

Lori50thBday-PegHorn-9530

It seems like I'm not the only one who loves the triple stamp technique!  LOL!  Love the richness of Rich Razzleberry and Hello Honey.  YUMMY!

Lori50thBday-ShaunaScott-9536

I love this retired set....AND, the fact that it's created with bright and cheerful colors of Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight.  ;)

Lori50thBday-StephanieSherry-9541

Can you believe this was created using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set?  How cool is this?!!  Such a versatile stamp set....if you don't have it yet....you NEED to get it.  I use my set ALL the time.  ;)

Thank you -- thank you -- thank you for all of the hand-stamped love, my friends.  Life is GREAT at 50!  I am sure that these creations will inspire all my readers to head to their crafting havens to make lots of papercrafting love.  Ooh-la-la!

For All Things 'Hello Fall' Blog Hop!!

Fall2014-TeamStampIt
**squeal** I am so happy to have you visit me this morning!  There is a much cooler chill in the air, but I've got some fun inspiration cookin' for you to enjoy and I'm busting at the seams to share it all with you.  Welcome to our very first Team Stamp It Blog Hop where we are celebrating my favorite season of the year....Fall/Autumn. You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Ellen Pray-Lipscomb's blog (Hop #3) on the Team Stamp It Hop.  I am #4 in the hop.  This month we are sharing Thanksgiving and fall projects using our wonderful Stampin’ Up! supplies.

ForAllThingsCard-BlogHop-Lori9517
In my opinion there are a couple of things that make this card special - here is a quick run down with pictures for you! Please remember that the products that I used for today's card are listed at the very end! Enjoy!

  • It's a traditional A2 card...card base is Naturals Ivory cardstock measuring 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  LOVE Naturals Ivory cardstock!
  • LOVE the color combo of Mossy Meadows, Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Soft Suede and Naturals Ivory to compliment the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper....simply warm and fuzzy for a cool brisk Fall morning!
  • LOVE to heat emboss...I used clear embossing powder with the Hello Honey "Thanks" - love the effect it gives!

ForAllThingsCard-Close-BlogHop-Lori-9519

  • Clean And Simple (CAS) cards are really pretty, but I have a problem creating CAS...Stampin' dimensionals always find a home with my creations.  Adding height and dimension is the touch of character that makes my heart go pitter-patter.
  • And, who doesn't LOVE embellishments?!  Buttons, lacy ribbon and Burlap ribbon bring out the country girl in me!  ooh-la-la!!
  • LOVE-Love-love my Big Shot Die-cutting Machine!  I use it ALL the time...check out the 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon that was die cut using the Large Scallop Edgelit.  Just a couple passes through my Big Shot and a new look is made.
  • Framelits make my job easier...there are 4 different sizes to choose from within the Deco Labels Collection.

  ForAllThings-CandleBlogHop-Lori-9523

Found these cute little candle jars (3 in a box) and this one was begging to be decorated.  What a cute little gift ensemble to give as a birthday gift or to your next Hostess.  Let me know if you would like to get your friends together to Host a Stampin' Up! party....this gift could be yours.  ;)

ForAllThingsGiftGroup-Lori-9526

Keep it simple...follow your heart with the style that works for you

and you will always have a great end result and feel totally fulfilled!

Something to Say with Stampin' Up!

That's right!  I have "Something to Say" stamp set is a wonderful, versatile stamp set that has landed several times in many of my creations.  Pair it with Daydream Medallions and we have an assistant to some fun creating while helping a friend battle against cancer.  This is card #2 from my Stamp Out Breast Cancer stamp class and was inspired by a fellow demonstrator and friend, Selene Kempton.  Her colors were more in the season of the Christmas holidays, and I have troubles totally CASEing anyone else's creations, so I changed the colors to reflect symbolism to Breast Cancer awareness with a touch of Pink.

SomethingToSay-PinkBC-Lori-9474

This card is so soothing and warm using the colors of Soft Sky, Melon Mambo, and Smoky Slate and the variety of Daydream Medallion images stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then matted onto a layer of Blackberry Bliss.  I just love the softness of the Smoky Slate cardstock base...really brings a richness to the meaning of the sentiments.  I'm sorry for the poor lighting as it makes the Blackberry Bliss inked sentiments, scallop circle and 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon banner tails appear black in nature versus the true deep, rich purple.  I just could not get the true color to come through.  But, you gotta love the sparkle, right?!!  The sentiments are popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals to add a little depth and character.  I have a couple of friends that are fighting the fight of Breast Cancer and Pancreatic Cancer that will be receiving some love from me.

BdayFlowers-50

Yesterday was a birthday milestone for me, which was celebrated quietly with my family.  My sweet hubby treated us to a night out of Brazilian food (Rodizio's) and Reese's Blizzard cake from DQ.  YUMMY!  And, my wonderful daughters bought me a beeee-u-tiful bouquet of flowers garnished with a balloon decorated with lots of candles....didn't count them, but there were LOTS!  ;)

LifeIsGreatAt50-Tall-LoriBlurb

I do have to say, that so far Life is Great at 50!!  Teeehehehe....I know, I can only speak experience of one day, but it's good!  ;)  So good, that I am handing out Birthday Treats to everyone that wants to party with me. Click on the image above to check out the details.  Place a $50 order through my online store, send me an email with your Order Confirmation number, and I'll mail you the Birthday Present of your choice (see selections below) along with a beautiful handstamped card from me:

Stamping Out Breast Cancer -- 5 Year Anniversary!

I know, I know!!  How many Anniversaries can one person have?  Well, this year is filled with lots of them for me....my 6th year as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and also reaching 5 years as a Breast Cancer survivor.  WOOT!!  I am SO excited to be able to continue sharing life with my family and friends and everyone that I've met through my blog, emails, vendor & craft fairs, stamp classes/camps, Stampin' Up! Convention....and, the list never ends.  I appreciate everyone of you that has entered my life!

Every year, I have a special "Stamp Out Breast Cancer" stamping class with 3 really beautiful creations.  This first card was inspired by someone on the internet....probably through Pinterest, but I can't find it now.  I know that I changed up the colors to incorporate the pinks designated to Breast Cancer awareness, and what better stamp set than the Petite Petals stamp set and coordinating Petite Petals punch.  I am in love with the warm, earthy colors of our Naturals Ivory and Strawberry Slush.  YUM!

PetitePetalsCongrats-StrawbrySlush-Lori-9469

Follow me down Creation Lane.....

  • The background stamping is using an image from the Work of Art stamp set inked in Strawberry Slush and Baked Brown Sugar.  Once the image was inked, I did stamp off once onto scrap paper, then huffed the rubber stamp and then stamped onto the Naturals Ivory layer.  If you look at this stamp, you will see that it really is shorter than what you see.  Once I did the first row, I turned the stamp 180 degrees and did another row, and stamped over top of the bottom portion of the first row so that I extended it to fit the rest of the Petite Petals arrangement.
  • I love how the Naturals 5/8" Chevron Ribbon is all set up for me to trim into an arrow....I know, that's cheating, right?!!
  • To add more 'pink' accents, I added some of our Thick Strawberry Slush Baker's Twine that was placed in loops in not particular fashion....just whatever way you want to position them.
  • Smothered with Petite Petals flowers that were stamped on each of Very Vanilla, Naturals Ivory and Baked Brown Sugar and topped with some beautiful pearls.
  • The last little touch to hit the card creation was some of our new Essentials Wooden Elements that were added with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This layout renders almost any occasion.  I chose to use the word "Congratulations" from the Something To Say stamp set because I was going to create a large number of this card and send off to the many Breast Cancer Survivors I have met along my journey.

If you liked the Pink creation, check out the very quick transition of colors and sentiments for this next version.  Yep!!  Boss's Day was the next day and my brain was not working to create anything unique.  The sentiment is an old stamp that I've had in my stash (pssst....not a Stampin' Up! sentiment....please don't turn me in!)  Instead of Strawberry Slush, I used Pistashio Pudding.  SO easy and CUTE!!

PetitePetalsBossDay-PistachioPudding-Lori-9470

ALTERATION NOTE:  It was to my surprise that the Essentials Wooden Elements only had 4 of the wooden arrows.  Soooo, I had to improvise.  I kept all of the Chevron punches from this card....(Yes, I'm a clepto), sponged the edges a bit with Crumb Cake and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  LOVE it!
