Creative Inking -- Springing Into Flowers -- Blog Hop

Hello Stampers!  It's April...AND, it's time for the Creative Inking Blog Hop!  As the old saying goes...April Showers bring May Flowers.  Well, in Texas, they are getting waaaay more than their share of the rain.  There is major flooding going on, so my thoughts and prayers to the residents battling the torrential downpours.  This month we are featuring creations based on the theme "Springing into Flowers".  I am excited to play with some flower stamps...they can be used for all sorts of, birthday, thinking of you, and get well soon.

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my Springing into Flowers card share.

I have a couple of dear friends who have been dealing with breast cancer and the chemo treatments that have been prescribed for the last several months.  It's not a fun occasion by any means, but they are both very strong women and have been doing really well.  YEAH!!.  I got my inspiration for this card from a similar one I remembered seeing on Pinterest.  Gotta love that resource!  haha  I really like my version and can't wait to share this fun one with you!

Creative Tips:

  • The Wisteria Wonder cardbase is from the Subtles color family....a pretty-pretty color that I have not played with in quite a while. I started with the card base (8-1/2" x 5-1/2") scored at 4-1/4".
  • Very Vanilla is the main panel.  There are six beautiful flowers to choose from in the Flower Shop stamp set.  The image you see was inked in Early Espresso and randomly stamped on the bottom portion.  NOTE:  You'll need a scrap piece of paper to cover the upper section so that you keep it clean and free to stamp the sentiment.
  • The sentiment is from the Fabulous Four stamp set (which is on the Stampin' Up! Retirement list)...also inked in Early Espresso.
  • I added a strip of Kraft Corrugated Paper to add some texture and give a better eye-appealing separation of the panel. This paper is another item on the Retirement List and I am going to really miss this paper.  LOVE it!
  • To add some color to the front of the card and connect to the cardbase, I added some Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding (also on the Retirement list) and used the Owl Punch for the smaller circles to the flower centers.  The Rhinestones add the perfect bling appeal, don't you think?
  • Last, the whole Very Vanilla layer was added to a Soft Suede layer and then glued to the cardbase using Fast Fuse.

Super, super EASY!!  The best part...the card layout can be created in sooo many different colors.  :)  Take a peek!

For more Springing into Flowers creations, you will want to make sure to hop on over to Dena's blog...I can't wait to see what amazing card/project she has to share with you.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

Stamp It Blog Hop -- Mother's Day

Welcome stampers and crafters to our April Stamp It Blog Hop.  I am currently in Salt Lake City, Utah attending OnStage Live (Stampin' Up!'s local Convention) and it has been pretty chilly to down right cold with snow falling in the nearby mountains.  While I am having a blast learning about our new products coming out, I am so excited to be hanging out with a number of group members on this very person!!  **squeal**

Next month is a very special month for all the Mom, Grandmas, care-taker Moms....anyone who is taking care of children in their lives.  So, we are featuring our creations around "Mother's Day".  And, what better way to make them feel extra special than with a flower (or a full bouquet) and a 'Thank You' card.  I love the Rose Garden stamp set and the wide variety of techniques that can be demonstrated using this set. You can find this stamp set in the Occasions catalog on pages 18.  Outside of the beauty of the large rose, I am in love with the font used for the sentiments.  Soooo pretty and delicate!

Oooh-la-la!!  Love how elegant and vintage this turned out...two of my FAVORITE words to describe my style of creating a card.

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is a half sheet of Mossy Meadow cardstock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2") scored at 4-1/4".  If you love Mossy Meadow, I'm here to tell you that it will be on the retirement list when it comes out and will no longer be available to purchase after May 31st...or, until the supply runs out.  This is my favorite shade of green and I will miss it terribly....great for masculine cards, too.
  • Let's start with the main focal panel, which is Watercolor paper.  I stamped the largest rose using VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  Once it cooled, I heavily misted the rose section with water using a Stampin' Spritzer.  Taking my Aqua Painter and Watermelon Wonder ink smooshed into the lid of my stamp pad, I lightly touch the pool of water within each cavity of the embossed sections of the rose.  When you touch the ink to each water pool, the ink with spread.  NOTE:  Always start with a little amount of's easier to add more cannot take it away.  Also, you do not want to use a paper towel to blot the excess water because you will also blot up the ink that you added to each cell.
  • You'll repeat the same steps to add Mossy Meadow ink to the leaves.
  • The sentiment was inked with StazOn Jet Black ink.
  • Once the watercoloring has thoroughly dried, I took the edge of my scissors and roughed up the edges...this is called 'distressing'.   To add some balance to the card, I added a tiny bow using 1" Mint Macaron Dotted Lace Trim wrapping it to the upper corner.
  • The Watercolor paper layer was adhered to a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, but not before adding a strip of the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (Mint Macaron design) so that it peeks out of the upper corner where I added a bit more distressing.

This was such a fun card to create and is much easier than you would believe.  If you would like to see a video demonstration of this watercolor technique, please leave me a comment letting me know and I will arrange to do so....your wish is my command.  :)

Good Luck!! One very lucky person will win this awesome Watercolor Wishes Card Kit!  You are going to LOVE this predesigned, precut, all accessories included, kit.  **squeal**

OSAT Blog Hop Plays Tic Tac Toe

Hello crafty stampers!  Welcome to the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the States who will be sharing our handmade projects with you this month.  In order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

For this month's blog hop, we are focusing our projects on a fun game that you probably started playing as a youngster...Tic Tac Toe!  This is a special edition of the game in the idea that instead of putting X's and O's in the spot, the spots are already noted with an embellishment.  We, as the crafter, had to select a row, column, or diagonal to feature in our creations.  My plan was to use the 2nd column Twine / Dies / Glitter, but while taking pictures of my projects, I realized that I also hit the items shown in the bottom row...Ribbon / Glitter / Dots.

How fun is this card?!!  I can't seem to get enough of the whole Botanical Gardens collection available in the Occasions catalog.  The best part is that all of it is available as a bundle so you will save 15% on the purchase.  YEAH!!  The collection includes the Botanical Blooms stamp set, Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper, and the Botanical Builder Framelits 26 in the Occasions catalog.

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is a half sheet of Whisper White cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2") scored at 4-1/4".
  • I

I decided to make my project follow the same appearance as the card so that it would appear as a gift ensemble.  I found these sticky note calendars in the $1.50 bin at another craft store, which worked out perfect.  The cover is Mint Macaron cardstock that measures 8-1/2" x 4", then scored at 4-1/8" and 4-3/8".

So, what do you think?  Pretty cute, huh?!!  At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Sara Levin’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something super cute to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Marisa Gunn’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Please holler if you have any questions.  I love and appreciate your comments.

End of Sale-A-Bration 50-50 Board Drawing!!

And, the time has come....Stampin' Up!'s best time of the year, the Sale-A-Bration season, has come to an end.  It's kind of like a hunter at the end of deer season or coming home from a wonderful and luxurious vacation....we have gotten the best of prizes and happiness, but all good things must come to a close.  (sniff-sniff)

Soooo, are you wondering who's name will be drawn from the Stampin' Dreams 50/50 board to receive a $25 shopping spree with me?  Me toooo!!  I needed help with choosing, so I went with (range of 1 to 50).  Of course, the first two attempts resulted with choices that no one else chose.  haha!  Go figure!  I'm sure that someone mentioned that possibility, too.
