Creative Inking Blog Hop -- It's So Hard To Say Goodbye!

CreativeInking-HeaderImage
Hello Stampers!  I hope the start of your May month has been going well because it's time for the Creative Inking Blog Hop!  Yes, I know, we are just a weeee bit early with the hop this month.  You seeee, there are a bunch of stampers that will be leaving a weeee bit early for the Grand Vacation hosted by Stampin' Up!....the Mediterranean Cruise!  I am over-the-moon ecstatic because this is my very first one!  SQUEAL  My hubby and I will be traveling for a few days in Ireland, then jumping on over to Barcelona for a day of seeing the sites before we join up with a WHOLE bunch of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the world on the boat (well, it's really a ship...haha)....a really BIG boat!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my Springing into Flowers card share.

BannerBanterDottyAnglesGiftBox-Lori-DSC00156

One of my nieces graduated from high school recently and the school colors are orange and black.  Hmmm, I bet you're thinking Halloween, right?  Almost, but we are a little early for that (thank heavens!).  This project features the retiring Banner Banter stamp set bundled with the Banner Punch and Dotted Angles stamp set.

Creative Tips:

  • The Gift Bag Punch Board is a wonderful tool and can assist with whatever size handcrafted gift box you need.  This Tangelo Twist gem started out measuring 10" x 5-1/2" piece and following the guidelines for a 'small' bag.
  • Ink up the Dotted Angles image with Tangelo Twist and stamp along the bottom above the score line forming the bottom of the bag.  I love tone-on-tone stamping (using same ink color as the cardstock color).
  • The Banner Banter stamp set has several banner patterns, plus, a couple of sentiments. All of the images fit the coordinating Banner punch.  I love it when Stampin' Up! matches up products to help me save time.  I don't mind hand cutting images, but I'm usually running short on time in my day...A LOT...and can use all the help I can get.  ;)
  • I added little banners (inked in So Saffron and Tangelo Twist) to the gift bag using Stampin' Up!'s hand stapler.  A clean and simple embellishment without the need for any adhesives..

Fill the gift bag with some jewelry, candy, or (the most desired by any teenager)...that green stuff...cold cash!!

BannerBanterBox-Lori-DSC00168

This project features the retiring Banner Banter stamp set bundled with the Banner Punch, 1-1/4" and 7/8" Scallop Circle Punches, 1/8" Mini Brads, Cotton Paper Assortment and Tiny Treat Boxes.

Creative Tips:

  • Before assembling the Tiny Treat box, stamp the sentiment along the bottom using White Craft Ink.  NOTE:  Use the Heat Tool on the low setting to set and dry the Craft ink.  Otherwise, set aside for several minutes to ensure it dries well.  You'd hate to have a smudges or smearing of the ink.
  • Ink up the various Banner images using Mint Macaron ink and stamp onto Mint Macaron cardstock (tone-one-tone stamping).  Punch the banners using the Banner punch, add Stampin' Dimensionals and attach to the box.  Accent the banners with Silver stars punched from Silver Glimmer paper using the Confetti Stars Border punch.
  • Wrap some Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine around box and tie into a bow.

BannerBanterBoxCottonFlower-Lori-DSC00170

  • Create a 'scrunched' flower using the 1-1/4" and 7/8" Scallop Circle punches and the Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight Cotton paper.  You'll need 8 of the 1-1/4" scallop circles and 6 of the 7/8" scallop circles, both in Watermelon Wonder.  Using the Piercing Tool, stack all of the scallops together and pierce a hole in the center.  Hold them together with a 1/8" Mini Brad.  Scrunch each layer to desired texture.  The Center flower is created with a strip of Daffodil Delight Cotton paper and the fringe scissors.  Roll the fringed strip and attach to the center of the scallop flower with Glue Dots.

Again, you can fill the gift box with some jewelry, candy, or some amazing Ben Franklin's (or George Washington's...haha)!!

BannerBanterThankYou-Lori-DSC00160

Of course, no graduation celebration can go without a lot of 'thanks' and loving hugs.

Creative Tips:

  • Cardbase is 4" x 8" Thick Whisper White, scored at 4" the ink.  No new graduate likes to write a whole lot of words of 'thank' in a card...keep it simple.  I love 4" x 4" cards, plus, keeping the design Clean And Simple (CAS) makes mass production very easy.
  • Stamp the various banners with Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, and Watermelon Wonder inks.  The Pool Party plain banner image was stamped onto a scrap piece, punched out using the Banner punch, and glued in place using Fast Fuse.  The little touch adds a slight amount of dimension to the overall focal point.
  • Ink up the 'straight pin' image with Sahara Sand and stamp over the banners to make them look like the banners and flying in the wind.
  • Add a thin strip of Pool Party to the bottom portion of the front of the card.
  • Stamp the "Thank You" image with Archival Basic Black ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the 1/2" Circle punch.  Add it to the card using a Stampin' Dimensional.
  • The final touches are the Whisper White Baker's Twine tied in a bow and added to the middle banner using Liquid Glue; and the single Whisper White button.

So, how is that for a list of Retiring Stampin' Up! products.  These items have been my favorite and go-to products for a lot of my paper crafting...especially, that Banner Banter stamp set and Banner Punch.  Why, oh, why are they retiring??  Get the bundle while you can at a discount.  You can't beat the price!!  For more inspiration using products that are 'Saying Goodbye', you will want to make sure to hop on over to Dena Rekow's blog.  I'm curious to see what retiring products she is going to miss the most.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop - 2016-2017 Annual Catalog Sneak Peek!

GV_Blog_Hop_Banner_MediterraneanCruise

Welcome to the Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop for May 2016.  YEAH-Yeah-Yeah!! I am SUPER excited for this trip...a once in a lifetime get-away for me and my hubby to celebrate our 25th wedding Anniversary.  We head out tomorrow to spend a couple of days in Ireland before climbing aboard a big (really BIG) boat. I have been so stinkin' giddy (beyond control) for the last couple of days, I don't know that I will be able to get any sleep before we fly over the pond.  squeal

The theme for the hop this month is to share a new creation using NEW product from the upcoming 2016-2017 Annual catalog.  For all demonstrators who got some new product when they attended OnStage Live and Local events or preordered from a selection of new catalog products, we have been biting at the bit to share with you.  I'm sure you are going to love everything you see in this line-up.  :)

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the previous person to me on the list. Please be sure to click the person after me to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  I took the liberty to add another 'theme' to my creation, in the sense that I wanted it to reflect my wedding colors, and the fact that 25 Years is recognized as a Silver Anniversary.  So, here is my new catalog Sneak Peek card share that I am excited to share with you.

MedAchieversHop-LayeringLove-Lori-DSC00182

 Creative Tips:

  • The color choices all stem from my wedding colors of a dark purple and teal.  So, I think Elegant Eggplant and Bermuda Bay were a pretty darned close resemblance.  The cardbase is the Thick Whisper White (11" x 4-1/4", scored at 5-1/2") as I wanted it to be sturdy enough to hold the Silver Foil paper layer and all the other elements I was attaching.  ;)
  • I was struggling to figure out how to incorporate my colors into the card without being overbearing because I did not have any Designer Series Paper to help with my layout.  Soooo, I had to be very creative!  I inked up the Watercolor Wash background stamp alternating Elegant Eggplant and Bermuda Bay inks on the image.  To tone down the boldness of the inks, I used a Stampin' Spritzer with water and lightly misted the image before stamping it onto some Whisper White cardstock.  NOTE:  Since the Whisper White cardstock will be a tad saturated, I used my Heat tool on the lowest setting to heat dry it.  After this layer was dry, I used the edge of my scissors to distress the edges...even tearing and rolling the edges for the character that 25 years can generate.  haha
  • The sentiment comes from a brand new set called "Layering Love".  I love this particular sentiment because it is so fitting for this card....a post 25th Anniversary card that I will tuck into my hubby's suitcase for him to find at some point during our trip.  I used Stampin' Write markers in Elegant Eggplant and Bermuda Bay to color the different words before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock and die cutting it out using the Circles Collection Framelits.
  • Since the sentiment was layered onto a 2" punched Bermuda Bay circle, I needed to offset it with some Elegant Eggplant.  Soooo, I pulled out my new die set called Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  I am SO in love with all of the dies that come in this set.  Very fun!!

MedAchieversHop-LayeringLoveFlat-Lori-DSC00181

  • To balance the Silver Foil, I used the Banner die from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits die set and some Metallic Silver thread.  The whole sentiment ensemble was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I can't bring myself to not use some sort of dimension in my creations....love character!

Well, there you have it!  A pretty darned lovely card that I hope my husband will enjoy.  We don't get to spend long periods of time together, so I am very excited for the time that this trip will provide for us...amazing bonding time, reconnecting, and strengthening the love we have for each other.  I thank my lucky stars for him...AND, I humbly thank the rest of my family, my amazingly loyal customers and wonderful friends.  This trip was not possible without you!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  (insert glowing heart).

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop. With so many amazing ideas and inspiration "for the guys' in your life, you won't want to miss checking out all of the blogs!  I'll be traveling right behind you.  **squeal**  Remember you are currently at (Lori Mueller's -- Stampin' Dreams blog), so please check the blog hop line up below and be sure to click the next blog participant's name on the list.

OSAT Blog Hop -- May Flowers!!

OSAT-BlogHop-Header-2016

Hello crafty stampers!  Welcome to the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the States who will be sharing our handmade projects with you this month.  In order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

For this month's blog hop, we are focusing our projects on May Flowers.  'Tis the season for Spring and Summer when flower beds are being planted with annual blooms and the perennial crocus, daffodils, and grape hyacinths are blooming brightly.  We have been getting a lot of rain the last few weeks, which has helped me immensely....my daily life has been so crazy busy that I know that I would not have my flower beds looking as nice as they do without the help of Mother Nature.  ;)  So with the bundle of flowers and rain, I am featuring the Flower Shop and Pansy Punch bundle (page 126 in the current Stampin' Up catalog) to quickly help me produce a lovely card and 3D project. Let's mosey on to the card.

OSATHopMay2016-FlowerShop-Lori-DSC00090

I know, I know....who has Pear Pizzazz flowers in their flower pots, right?!!  But, you can find some really pretty 'blue' (aka Marina Mist) Pansy's, which are my favorite!  I was in a recent card swap at OnStage Live in Salt Lake City and 'borrowed' (aka CASE'd...Copy And Share Everything) this card layout.

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is a half sheet of Marina Mist cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2") scored at 4-1/4".
  • I dry embossed the Whisper White layer with the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder and matted it to a piece of Pear Pizzazz.  I love to layer my mattes that are an 1/8" larger all the way around...just to give a hint of the contrast color so that the border doesn't steal the show...I have ideas for a different focal point.
  • The Flower Shop stamp set has 6 lovely Pansy images, so I used 2 of them for this creation.  Inked one in Marina Mist and the other in Pear Pizzazz, then punched them out using the coordinating Pansy Punch.  When I arranged the punched pansies on the Whisper White, I used my fingers on each petal to roll them up a bit so they would not lay flat to the card.  All flower petals have a little curve to them...never seen a flat petal before.  haha  All of the Pansies are glued directly to the Whisper White layer except for the center one which sits on a Stampin' Dimensional.
  • All flowers need bling, right?!  Each flower center was adorned with the medium sized Rhinestone.  Love that our package of Rhinestones has 3 different sizes to choose from....150 total; 50 each in 3 sizes.  The center flower needed a little extra notice, so I added a bow made from Old Olive Bakers Twine and topped it off with a Rhinestone.
  • The sentiment comes from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and was the last step to this project. I don't normally save the stamping of the sentiment for last, but since the card was very flat (no dimensionals or glue dots in the way), I was able to get away with it.

Something Floral Project:  For more fun and inspiration, we are to create and share another project.  I love creating 3D projects that involve recycling, upcycling, or something from scratch.  I had these little calendars that needed a pretty book cover, which was super easy to do.

OSATHop-FlowerShopCalendar-Lori-DSC00098

Again!  What's with the Cucumber Crush flower?  Teehee  I couldn't resist.  I recently had an event scheduled for a group of ladies who qualified for a challenge that I held during Sale-A-Bration.  The bad thing is that I had to cancel due to the sudden passing of an Aunt and the funeral was scheduled the same day.  I was unable to reschedule, so I wanted to make something extra special to send along with their door prize, pillow gifts, treats, and stamping projects.  I found these sticky note calendars in the $1.50 bin at another craft store, which worked out perfect.  The cover is Kraft cardstock that measures 8-1/2" x 4", then scored at 4-1/8" and 4-3/8".

So, what do you think?  Pretty cute, huh?!!  At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Sara Levin’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something super cute to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Renee Ondrajka’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Stamp It Blog Hop for Father's & Dad's Day

TeamStampIt-BlogHeader-May2016

Welcome stampers and crafters to our Stamp It Blog Hop for the month of May.  This is kind of funny...I am currently traveling to attend my niece's high school graduation, but I'm also going to celebrate Mother's Day with my Mom, too.  The funny part....the theme for this month's hop is "Father's Day"!  haha  You know the saying..."hit two birds with one stone"!

I have had sooo much going on with my full-time job (outside of the home), that my creative juices are struggling to make a presence in my stamping studio (aka family kitchen).  ;)  I always enjoy creating a masculine card, but due to the lack of MOJO, I decided to look through the Occasions catalog to see what I could CASE (Copy And Share Everything).  After all, that's what the catalogs are for, right?!!  I knew that I had the Going Global stamp set and coordinating Going Places Designer Series paper pack, so that was half my battle.  I found a project to CASE and even found a way to tweak it a bit.  Let's check it out!

StampItHop-FathersDayMiniTreatPouch-Lori-DSC00047

Soooo, what do you think?!  Pretty good for copying a Stampin' Up! Concept Artists' work, right?

Creative Tips:

  • The little package is die cut from a 'worldly map' patterned design using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die.  Since the Designer Series paper pack is a 6" x 6" size, you'll need 2 sheets to die cut both parts to the treat bag.  NOTE:  the designer paper has a horizontal pattern that I wanted to be consistent all the way around the package, so I made sure to position my dies accordingly when I ran each one through my Big Shot.  You can click on the image to enlarge and get a closer look to see what I am describing.  Very, very easy to align the dies with the pattern.

StampItHop-FathersDay-Lori-DSC00030

  • The focal portion of the package uses two more different patterns from the same designer series paper stack.  I should point out just how much I really love these paper stacks.  You get 48 sheets total....4 each of 12 double-sided designs for $8.00.  The designs are on a smaller scale than what you get with the 12"x12" designer papers, which is the reason I love them so much.  My project is small, so the smaller designs are perfect!
  • The compass was stamped using Sahara Sand ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the 2" Circle punch.
  • The sentiment was inked with Archival Basic Black ink onto a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock and die cut using the banner from the Large Numbers Framelits die set.  I set it in place on the compass image using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I love the contrast of the Hello Honey Striped Cotton Ribbon to connect the Compass and Sentiment to the designer paper banners.  I attached the ribbon ensemble to the banners using a couple strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive....just to make sure that it stays put!
  • Basic Black Bakers Twine was wrapped around the treat package a couple of times and tied in a bow.

StampIt-Father'sDayMiniTreat-Lori-DSC00043

Now, the original creation shown on page 39 in the Occasions catalog has some crumpled filler in the Mini Treat Package.  I decided to make the project into a pocket card.  The base is Basic Black with Very Vanilla and a strip of the Going Places Designer Paper to tie the 2 projects together.  This was such a fun project to create and is much easier than you would believe.  Not that I am wishing time to fly (because I already struggle getting time to slooooow down), but I am really anxious for Father's Day to get here.  Yes, yes, yes....after I celebrate Mom's day on Sunday!
