OSAT Blog Hop -- May Flowers!!
May 12, 2016
Hello crafty stampers! Welcome to the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop! There are 20 of us from around the States who will be sharing our handmade projects with you this month. In order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness is click on the link at the bottom of each post.
For this month's blog hop, we are focusing our projects on May Flowers. 'Tis the season for Spring and Summer when flower beds are being planted with annual blooms and the perennial crocus, daffodils, and grape hyacinths are blooming brightly. We have been getting a lot of rain the last few weeks, which has helped me immensely....my daily life has been so crazy busy that I know that I would not have my flower beds looking as nice as they do without the help of Mother Nature. ;) So with the bundle of flowers and rain, I am featuring the Flower Shop and Pansy Punch bundle (page 126 in the current Stampin' Up catalog) to quickly help me produce a lovely card and 3D project. Let's mosey on to the card.
I know, I know....who has Pear Pizzazz flowers in their flower pots, right?!! But, you can find some really pretty 'blue' (aka Marina Mist) Pansy's, which are my favorite! I was in a recent card swap at OnStage Live in Salt Lake City and 'borrowed' (aka CASE'd...Copy And Share Everything) this card layout.
Creative Tips:
- The card base is a half sheet of Marina Mist cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2") scored at 4-1/4".
- I dry embossed the Whisper White layer with the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder and matted it to a piece of Pear Pizzazz. I love to layer my mattes that are an 1/8" larger all the way around...just to give a hint of the contrast color so that the border doesn't steal the show...I have ideas for a different focal point.
- The Flower Shop stamp set has 6 lovely Pansy images, so I used 2 of them for this creation. Inked one in Marina Mist and the other in Pear Pizzazz, then punched them out using the coordinating Pansy Punch. When I arranged the punched pansies on the Whisper White, I used my fingers on each petal to roll them up a bit so they would not lay flat to the card. All flower petals have a little curve to them...never seen a flat petal before. haha All of the Pansies are glued directly to the Whisper White layer except for the center one which sits on a Stampin' Dimensional.
- All flowers need bling, right?! Each flower center was adorned with the medium sized Rhinestone. Love that our package of Rhinestones has 3 different sizes to choose from....150 total; 50 each in 3 sizes. The center flower needed a little extra notice, so I added a bow made from Old Olive Bakers Twine and topped it off with a Rhinestone.
- The sentiment comes from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and was the last step to this project. I don't normally save the stamping of the sentiment for last, but since the card was very flat (no dimensionals or glue dots in the way), I was able to get away with it.
Something Floral Project: For more fun and inspiration, we are to create and share another project. I love creating 3D projects that involve recycling, upcycling, or something from scratch. I had these little calendars that needed a pretty book cover, which was super easy to do.
Again! What's with the Cucumber Crush flower? Teehee I couldn't resist. I recently had an event scheduled for a group of ladies who qualified for a challenge that I held during Sale-A-Bration. The bad thing is that I had to cancel due to the sudden passing of an Aunt and the funeral was scheduled the same day. I was unable to reschedule, so I wanted to make something extra special to send along with their door prize, pillow gifts, treats, and stamping projects. I found these sticky note calendars in the $1.50 bin at another craft store, which worked out perfect. The cover is Kraft cardstock that measures 8-1/2" x 4", then scored at 4-1/8" and 4-3/8".
So, what do you think? Pretty cute, huh?!! At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Sara Levin’s blog. You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something super cute to share with you. If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Renee Ondrajka’s blog. Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
