Amazing Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip -- Mediterranean Cruise Highlights

GV_Blog_Hop_Banner_MediterraneanCruise

Welcome to the Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop for June 2016.

The theme for the hop this month is to reflect and share pictures of our experience during the Mediterranean Cruise.  OH. MY. GOSH!!!  Every time I reflect back to the beginning....I mean, the end of Stampin' Up!'s Convention in 2014.  When I heard the announcement of the Grand vacation, I set my ultimate goal as a demonstrator...to earn the Mediterranean Cruise.  To achieve this award would be my very first grand vacation!  My immediate thought was "WOW! What a dream vacation."...with a follow-up thought...what a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary gift this would be for my hubby!  My eyes swell every time I think back to that day.  What once was a dream became a real life experience....all in due part to the wonderful and dedicated customers that helped me achieve my goal down to the very last minutes (literally), my AMAZING team members, and my beautiful and supportive family and friends.  For this, I gratefully (and with an overflowing heart) Thank YOU all so very much.

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the previous person to me on the list. Please be sure to click the person after me to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here are only a (very) small number of pictures I took during the trip.  We were asked to limit it to 15 pictures.  Yee GADS!!  I took over 950 pictures!  Nonetheless, I am excited to share with you.

Thursday, May 19, 2016:  My husband and I decided to extend our trip to Europe by leaving early and spending some time in Dublin, Ireland.  We spent two days walking around the area that we stayed at and walked across the famous Ha'penny Bridge.  The Temple Bar near Trinity College was another stop we had on our list, which was full of guests listening to an Irish native singing the Irish tunes.  All of the streets in this area were cobblestone.  Loved walking these streets.

Saturday, May 21, 2016:  We have arrived in Barcelona, Spain and toured the sites from the top of the Hop On Hop Off Bus.  What a time saver!

DSC00447          DSC00449

AND, we have lights!!  When we came back to our hotel room after sight-seeing through the city, we realized that we had no lights or electricity.  We scoured the room for 15-20 minutes before we gave up and went to the front desk.  The very kind person behind the counter indicated 'no one told you?'  Hmmmm, told us 'what?'  "There is a box beside your door...you put your room key in the slot and that will turn on your electricity."  AHHHH!  Brilliant concept...when you leave, you need your room key, right? and it turns off the lights!  LOL

DSC00453          DSC00471

Port of Barcelona (Sunday, May 22, 2016):  The day has arrived!  The day to board the Norwegian Epic cruise ship!  YAY!  Here's a view looking back on Barcelona, Spain from our Stateroom Balcony.  Amazing!!

DSC00638          DSC00655

First port stop...Napoli, Italy!  This castle may look really small, but take a closer look at the people walking up to it.  It was HUGE!  Castel Nuovo Museo Civico, Napoli, Italy

DSC00703          DSC00697
2nd Port Stop....Rome, Italy  Walking around the Coloseum ruins was breathtaking.  I think I have a pretty good camera, but these images don't do the magnitude of the beauty near the justice it deserves.

DSC00763          DSC00805

Not only is there the beauty of the structures, but the city of Rome ravishes on their flower beds.  The greenery and bright colors really made the buildings come to life.

DSC00870

St. Peter's Basilica in Rome...the only vocabulary I have to describe this amazing structure...WOW!!  Stole my breath!

DSC00886          DSC00887

Our driver, Savigno, had one last 'present' for us to remember the City of Rome.  The best view to soak it all in.

DSC00908         DSC00925

3rd Port stop (Thursday, May 26, 2016):  Florence, Italy.  We hopped into a van and drove off into the Italian countryside.  Since I grew up on a farm, my heart was in heaven.  I love the fresh air, the smell of dirt stirred into the air, and warm sun rays on my skin.  We were heading to Fattoria, Italy to check out the San Michele A Torri vineyard and experience some wine tasting....Italian style.  A little bit of history with this vineyard....during World War II, this cellar became a bomb shelter for over 125 women and children for almost a month.  The war ended when U.S. troops came in.

DSC00935          DSC00936

It was very interesting to learn about the different wines, how they are processed, the length of time, and that no part of the grape is left without making something with it.  The different wines that we tasted (and all with wonderful breads) were good, but that Grappa!  That was pure moonshine!  I swear I could breath fire after the teeny-eentsy taste that we got.  haha

DSC00974

When you step foot into any city of Italy, you are immediately engulfed with a store serving many flavors of Gelato!  OH. MY. GOSH!  I swear...every block had Gelato cases with wonderful flavors to choose from.  This little store only had a dozen of flavors to choose....while others had about 2 dozen!  So it seemed, anyway.  I forgot to take a picture to help me remember.  haha

DSC00977          DSC00977-pasta

No Italian pasta dish is complete without a little glass of wine or champagne.  So, anyone want to tell me what they think of the napkin?  Are you thinking "Swirly Bird" like I did?  So cool!

DSC01015          DSC01023-2

4th Port stop (Friday, May 27, 2016):  Cannes, France.  On this day, a small group of us ran through the streets of Cannes to catch the train because we weren't staying.  GASP!  Yep!  We boarded a train heading to Monte Carlo, Monaco!  It was only about an hour or less to travel, so why not?  Our goal was to see the Formula 1 cars racing the streets in preparation for the big Grand Prix race on Sunday.

DSC01043          DSC01083

5th (and last) Port stop (Saturday, May 28, 2016):  Marseille, France.  Our stop in Marseille was a shorter stay than the other ports, so we hopped on this little train that took us through the city to see the tourist sights.  Chugga-chugga choo-choo!!  The other side of the street, for many, many blocks were tons of different restaurants and vendors (flowers, jewelry, paintings, fresh fish, etc.)  Like a farmer's market, so to speak.

DSC01044          DSC01053

Remember that little train?  It took us all the way to the top where Notre Dame de la Garde sits. WOW! What a view of the city! Had no idea how big it was.

DSC01065-phone          DSC01065-phone2

This is only 1 side of the cathedral's view of Marseille.  I took pictures from all 4 sides, but the size of the city was HUGE.

DSC01096          DSC01094

Each night, our wonderful Stateroom representative, Aruind, would secretly leave behind wonderful gifts from Stampin' Up! (pillow gifts).  He was so friendly and liked to tease.  One night, he tried to convince me that there were no pillow gifts.  He wasn't sure what happened, but there wasn't one for me.  Hahaha!  Lots of good laughs and conversations to remember.

DSC01114

Here are all of the pillow gifts I received throughout the trip.  I love what I do, and I love working with Stampin' Up!  If you have the desire to dream big and work hard to achieve your goals, come join me and my Stampin' Up family.  We call ourselves "Lori's Dream Team".

Stamp It Blog Hop -- New Stampin' Up! Catalog Goodies!!

June2016-TeamStampIt-Header
Hello -- Hello -- Hello!  Welcome to my little area of the blogging world; and joining me for the June Stamp It Blog Hop! Today the Stamp It members are pulling out all the stops to share new ideas and projects that showcase brand new Stampin' Up! goodies from the new catalog.  If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Hop, you may have come here from Teresa Howe's blog.  If this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

StampItHop-ThoughtfulBanners-Lori-DSC01232

I'm crazy in love with the new In Colors that came out with the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  I just can't seem to get enough of them.  For realsies!  Check it out!

Creative Tips:

  • A Very Vanilla cardbase measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" will be the neutral tone to help balance the variety of colors making up the focal point of the card.
  • The Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack has 12 double-side designs showing off several of the new In Colors.  I fell in love with this Peekaboo Peach block pattern and layered it with Soft Suede cardstock.
  • The focal point includes quite a few new products...5/8" Burlap Ribbon, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits die cut from Emerald Envy cardstock, Duet Banner punch, and Copper Metallic Thread.  The center circles are punched with the 1" and 1-1/4" Circle Punches which carried over from the previous catalog.  YEAH!!

StampItHop-ThoughtfulBannersClose-Lori-DSC01229

  • One of my favorite new products is the new Duet Banner punch.  It is bundled with the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set that includes 53 words and images.  Did I say FIFTY-THREE?!!  Better yet...it is soooo exiting to see these coordinating products bundled together for a 10% savings. That's HUGE!
  • The banner and sentiment were inked with Soft Suede and stamped onto Peekaboo Peach and Very Vanilla cardstocks.  The 'thank you' was hand cut, popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, and centered over the Peekaboo Peach banner.

My card creations, lately, have included lots of layering.  Plus, I like to throw in 1 or 2 contrasting colors (Emerald Envy and Sweet Sugarplum) if I think there is too much of another color.  :)  I am anxious to hear what your thoughts are on my card share.

In the meantime, you will want to make sure to visit the other members' blogs to see what new products they have fallen in love with.  I'll be right behind you!  Hey, I need to fill my inspiration bucket, too, ya know!  (big grin)  Don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Showing Off All The Pretties!

CreativeInkingHeader-Image

Hello Stampers!  It is June 20th; and we all know what that means, right? YEAH!! for the Creative Inking Blog Hop!  Have you had a chance to mill and drool over the new Stampin' Up! catalog since it's debut on June 1st?  Probably a million times over!  haha  Well, this month's hop shares are all featuring the pretties from the new catalog.  The 'pretties' can be embellishments, accessories, framelits, papers, etc.  I am sooo excited to show off my creation to you because it is beeee-u-tiful!  SQUEAL  I don't mean to boast, but there are some pretty amazing new products in that catalog...you will want to include them in your crafting arsenal....for sure!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my pretty-pretty card share. CreativeInkingHop-BetterTogetherBirthday-Lori-DSC01202

I'm loving these colors of Rich Razzleberry and Blushing Bride together.  It really 'pretties' up the occasion for that special someone's birthday, don't you thing.  Let's take an inside peek of the recipe for this gem.

Creative Tips:

  • I chose a neutral Smokey Slate cardbase measuring 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/4".
  • The first 'pretty' comes in the form of the Blooms & Bliss Desiger Series Paper layered onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock.  Go ahead and glue that down onto the cardbase using Fast Fuse or Liquid glue.
  • Using another pattern from the Blooms & Bliss paper pack, die cut a scalloped circle with the new Layering Circles Framelits.  These are AH-may-zing!!  You get 16 dies in one package for $35!  What a steal!  Before adhering the scalloped circle to the card, I added a solid strip of Rich Razzleberry for a little solid contrast.
  • The focal point is a strip of Smokey Slate that was punched using Scalloped Tag Topper and adorned with some new Thick Whisper White Baker's Twine.  I unwound the strands to add a little flair.  ;)
  • The sentiment comes from the new stamp set called "Better Together".  This was inked in Rich Razzleberry, stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and banner cut using the Banner Triple punch.

CreativeInkingHop-BetterTogetherFlat-Lori-DSC01205

  • The last of the new pretties includes our new Blushing Bride solid Baker's Twine that is wrapped around the sentiment edge.  Our new Whisper White Pompom Trim accents the little birthday hat and was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The birthday hat also comes from the "Better Together" stamp set.  Last, but not least, there some new enamel shapes that come in the new 2016-2018 In Colors.  I added the new Flirty Flamingo colored enamels and some Blushing Bride sequences in various spots.  So yummy!

Lovely pretties, if I don't say so myself!  You will want to make sure to hop on over to Dena Rekow's blog.  I'm curious to see what retiring products she is going to miss the most.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

OSAT Blog Hop - It's Summer Lovin’ Time!

OSAT-BlogHop-Header-2016

Good morning!  Welcome to our One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 16 amazing paper crafters from around the States who will be sharing their handmade projects with you this month.  In order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the link at the bottom of each post.

It's June, which means that the first day of Summer and the Longest Day of the year are only a couple of weeks away.  It also brings to life new babies into the world, too.  I have several friends who are expecting a new baby girl or boy this summer.  So, for this month's blog hop, we are focusing our projects on Summer Lovin'.  For me (and my friends) there will be lots of 'Summer Lovin' for those precious bundles of joy.  ;)  This blog hop theme couldn't be more timely as I am featuring my handmade creations around a couple of baby themed stamp sets..."Something for Baby" and "Made with Love".  I'm excited to share my creations with you...let's have a look.

OSATJuneHop-SummerLovinCard-Lori-DSC01173
Do you recognize the technique that I used?  If not, I'm very happy to share and explain to you the Emboss Resist technique!  If you are familiar with this technique, I hope you will find yourself marveling in the handmade goodness.  There are a couple of interesting twists that you might find interesting.  :)

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is Very Vanilla cardstock, but is not your typical (5-1/2" x 8-1/2").  It measures 5-1/2" x 7-3/4" and scored at 4-1/4".  The front of the card is shorter in width by 3/4".  I didn't plan for this because I just grabbed a scrap piece of cardstock from my stash and went with it.  I love to try new shapes and folds with my creations.
  • I took a Very Vanilla layer measuring 5-3/8" x 3-3/8" and stamped the safety pin image randomly with VersaMark ink.  Once I stamped enough to my liking, I covered all images with Clear Embossing Powder and set it with my Heat Tool on the high setting.  The reason I chose the Clear Embossing powder is so that the Very Vanilla cardstock would continue to show through as Very Vanilla.  Let cool before you start the next step.
  • The colors of ink are from the new 2016-2018 In Colors that were released with the brand new Annual catalog...Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach.  LOVE them!!  I used a sponge to swirl over top of the embossed images randomly across the page.  Don't be afraid to blend the sponging tightly so that you don't leave any areas without color.  When you have the amount of ink applied that fits your tastes (NOTE:  start adding ink lightly....you can always add more, but you can't take it away), take a dry paper towel and wipe off the excess ink that will be resting on top of the clear embossing.  The only areas that will pick up ink is the cardstock that does not have any embossed images.  Thus, the name of the technique....Emboss Resist.  Pretty cool, huh?!!
  • The focal images (onsie and pyramid toy) are resting on a piece of Vellum Cardstock.  I didn't want the piece any bigger and I didn't like the edges to be plain....I didn't want to matte it, either, because I wanted to be able to see the embossing through it.  The Vellum just softens this area so that the stamped images stand out as the focal point of the card.  I had some thin strips of Very Vanilla cardstock in my stash, so I used them to create a border...almost giving the Vellum piece a 'matted' appearance.  The Vellum was glued to the embossed layer; and the stamped images are popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I didn't want to use coordinating colored ribbon as I thought it would steal away from the nicely inked images, so I wrapped Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine around the embossed layer and glued it to the card front.  The sentiment comes from the "Made With Love" stamp set...inked in Emerald Envy and die cut using one of the tags in the Curvy Keepsake Thinlits Die set.  I die cut a plain Emerald Envy tag to pair up with the sentiment...thinking coordinating colors and added texture and dimension.  They are looped onto the Very Vanilla Baker's Twine before tying into a bow.
  • Last little touch....the necktie was inked in Emerald Envy, handcut and popped up with dimensionals.  Now, there is a framelit for that necktie, but I wanted a little less Very Vanilla border showing on the tie.

Pyramid Toy Project:  For more fun and inspiration, I created a fun imitation to the little pyramid toy on the card by using the Pyramid Pals Framelits.  Funny how coordination goes beyond color matching and tools.

OSATJuneHop-SummerLovinPyramid-Lori-DSC01183

Creative Tips:

  • The Pyramid is die cut from Dapper Denim.  BTW...I *love* the new In Color names!!  How can you not LOVE 'Dapper Denim'??  ;)  The sides are layered with 3/8" strips of Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach.
  • I wanted to imitate the round ball on the top, but we do not have any coordinating Thick Baker's Twine in Dapper Denim, so I took some 1/8" strips and curled them using my Bone Folder.  I glued the bottom tips together so that the curls held together like a bouquet and attached to the top.  Wrapped some Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine to finish the look at the peak of the pyramid, and VOILA!!!  Too stinkin' CUTE!!!

So, what do you think?  Pretty cute, huh?!!  At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Elizabeth Jeanne Thatcher’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something super cute to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Kim Smith’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Swirly Scribbles Meets New Stampin' Up! In Colors

SwirlyBird-ConfettiCelebration4x4-Lori-DSC01158
Hello everyone!!

So, who is in love with the new Stampin' Up! catalog?  Raise your hand and shout out a big WOOT!!  The new 2016-2018 In Colors are spot on YUMMY, too!  I mean, really, even the new names are so cute and fun...Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Sweet Sugarplum.  During my stamp class, one of the ladies said she is going to name her next pet "Peekaboo Peach"!  How adorable is that?!!

SwirlyScribbles-InColor4x4Bulk-Lori-DSC01154
Since getting back home from Stampin' Up!'s incentive trip, the Mediterranean cruise, I have been in mass production mode.  I like to personally hand-deliver and mail out the new catalogs to each of my customers, instead of having them mailed directly from Stampin' Up!  My reason why?  So that I can include a handmade card, of course!  Every package should come with a little bit of handmade goodness, right?! I purposely leave the card blank inside so they can use it for any occasion they see fit...a small token of love and appreciate for all they do to support me.

SwirlyBirdPeekabooPeach-Lori-DSC01149

There is a rule for the card I create, though...it must show off each of the new In Colors with a sampling of ink, cardstock, and ribbon/embellishment.  Simply a must!!  In addition, one needs to show off a fun (new) stamp set and a tool of some sort.  The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies along with the Confetti Celebration and Swirly Bird stamp sets helped fill the requirements.

SwirlyBirdDapperDenimFlirty-Lori-DSC01145        SwirlyFlirtyFlamingoEmeraldEnvy-Lori-DSC01146

Since there are 5 new In Colors, I created 5 different options by rotating 5 items involved in the creation:  cardstock matte, Swirly Scribbles die cut, speckles image stamped in the center of the Whisper White layer, color of the stamped star, and the (beee-u-tiful) 3/8" Ruched Ribbon.  Let me just say...this new ribbon is wonderful to play with...very light, soft, and ties into a lovely knot or bow with no fussing.  YOU will want to get your hands on this new ribbon....trust me!!  ;)

SwirlyBirdPeekabooPeachSweetSugarplum-Lori-DSC01148

CRAFTING TIP:  To save time and reduce the extra cutting of cardstock for the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit die, I simply 'stole' the die cut from each of the matted layers.  Shhhh!  No one will ever know because no one can see through the Whisper White layer that has been stamped on and covered with the die cut and embellished star.  Teehehehe!  I love it when efficiency comes in to play with mass production.

New 2016-2018 In Color 3/8" Ruched Ribbon Shares

InColor3-8RuchedRibbonSpools-Lori-DSC01198Do you want to get your hands on some of the new Ruched Ribbon, but do not want to use all of your crafting budget on a full spool (10 yards per spool) of each new In Color?  How about we get a group of friends together and "share" the spools of ribbon?  By bringing in the purchasing power of our friends, each participant can purchase a smaller portion of everything for a smaller fraction of the price.  This is called a "Product Share", and is amazingly helpful.

When you sign up for a spot in one of my shares, you'll have "a little bit of everything" so that you can "sample the buffet" before fully investing in the products.

How to "save your spot" in Lori's 2016-2018 In Color 3/8" Ruched Ribbon Product Share, please email me directly at LoriDreamsStampin@yahoo.com

Everyone within the U.S. is welcome to participate (current customers, new customers, and members of Lori's Dream Team).  Supplies for the first round of share groups will be ordered as soon as all spots fill.  In order to offer this ribbon share, I have to collect FIVE (5) signups; and per Stampin' Up! policy, I am not allowed to post a "Buy Now" button for product shares.  So, in order to get in on the first round..."save your spot" and email me the following information:

1.  Full Name

3.  Email Address for Paypal invoicing, and confirmation.
4.  How many share(s) you would like to reserve

I will place orders with Stampin' Up! as each share fills.  I will inform you of your total and send you a Paypal invoice when I place the order. The order will take about a week to get to me.  Once it arrives, I'll get my butt busy sorting, cutting, wrapping, packaging and mailing it out to you.  This process can take upwards to 10 business days or more.

NOTE:  One (1) share = 2 yds of ribbon per color (total of 10 yards) for $9.45 (includes postage)

Each share will consist of 2 yards of each color (Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Sweet Sugarplum). All ribbon shares are wrapped around cardboard to ensure wrinkle free ribbon. In addition...all shares are protected by cello bag packaging to ensure safe and dry delivery!
