Stamp It Blog Hop -- Fall Themed Suite Seasons

August2016-TeamStampIt-Header

Hello stampers and paper crafters!  Thank you for stopping and Welcome aboard the August Stamp It Blog Hop!  Life has been crazy busy around here...schools are hoppin' with lively students, County Fairs have finished up their season, and I've been creating and teaching stamp classes like a mad woman!  Well, not 'mad', but focused and loving the creations I've come up with.  I know the term CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) a project is very fluent among crafters and that is awesome (and I highly encourage everyone to do it), but I really struggle CASEing other crafters work.  I know, I'm weird, but I like to create original work...that's not to say that I don't take away lots of inspiration to come up with a final design...there is plenty of inspiration, that's for sure!  For my project share, I was inspired by some new products that are going to be available in the new Holiday catalog on September 1st.  There are several patterns in the Petals & Paisley Specialty Designers Series Paper pack that really made me think of the old days of wallpaper...taking me back to my childhood growing up on the farm.  Our theme is anything Fall related, which means that it won't be long until harvesting the crops starts up...my ultimate favorite time of the year.

If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Group Blog Hop, you may have come here from, Rachael Rife's blog.  If this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

StampItHop-SuiteSeasonsSympathy-Lori-DSC01450

I know that sending Sympathies is not a seasonable occasion, but I couldn't pass up using this pattern of paper from the Petals & Paisley Specialty Designer Series paper pack.  The colors shown are so warm and subtle.

Creative Tips:

  • Start with a Very Vanilla card base measuring 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" with a center score across the middle at 4-1/4".
  • The Petals & Paisley Specialty Designer Series Paper showcases the colors of Rich Razzleberry, Mint Macaron, and Delightful Dijon.  Matte the patterned paper onto a layer of Rich Razzleberry, followed by Mint Macaron cardstock.  Each of the cardstock layers have a 1/8" border.
  • The sentiment is 1 of 7 'seasonal' verbal stamps in the set called "Suite Seasons".  Ink up the words using Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaron and stamp onto a Very Vanilla Oval die cut.  Quickly pour Stampin' Clear Embossing powder over the ink before it dries and heat set using the Heat Tool on the high setting.  NOTE:  I recommend die cutting the Oval piece BEFORE stamping the sentiment.  This is because after heat embossing, you want to avoid any impressions from your Big Shot Clear Plates transferring to the newly heat embossed area.  You want your heat embossing to have a little dimension, whereas, the cutting plates will leave markings after being run through the Big Shot.

StampItHop-SuiteSeasons-Side-Lori-DSC01456

  • Matte the Oval die onto a layer of Copper Foil paper die cut with the Scallop Oval die.  Look how GORGEOUS that Copper Foil paper is!!  Click on image (above) to get a closer look  WARNING:  you will drool!
  • Add some 3/8" Mint Macaron Ribbon from the Trio pack to the back of the focal grouping.  To make it pop off the cardbase, add Stampin' Dimensionals and set into place.

StampItHop-SuiteSeasonsRichRazzl-Lori-DSC01457

  • It just so happens that the 3/8" Trio Ribbon Pack features the colors of Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaron...YIPPEE!!

So, tell me...which color of ribbon used on my card shares is your favorite?  I'd love to know!  :)  In the meantime, the temps in our area have been in the low-to-mid 70's, which Fall-type weather.  When the Fall season arrives, I hope it will stick around for quite awhile.  I am SO not ready for old man winter to show up!  YIKES!  In case you weren’t aware, there are 65 days until Halloween, 89 days until Thanksgiving, 105 days until Hanukkah, and 120 days until Christmas. With that new knowledge, you want to make sure you visit the other Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what Fall-themed projects they have to share.  It's never too early to get started on those cards.  ;)  Don't forget to come back real soon.

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Peeking Into The Holidays

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello-hello crafty stampers!  Welcome to my stop on the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of August! I am really excited to have you here because we are sharing sneak peeks of brand new products that are going to be available to you when the new Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog goes live on September 1st!!  I. CAN'T. WAIT!! There is sooo much to love and share, but I can only fit so much of it on one card design.  haha!  So, let's cut to the chase and get right to it, shall we?!!  Oh, you might want to grab a tissue for the drool...I guarantee it, you will drool!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my Spooky AH-mayzing creation....if I do say so myself.  Super easy, too!

CreativeInkingHop-SpookyFun-Lori-DSC01438

With the season of Halloween quickly approaching, I decided to show off an awesome new Holiday catalog bundle....Spooky Fun stamp set and the coordinating Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies, along with the wonderful Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper.  So much fun!!

Creative Tips:

  • A Whisper White card base measuring 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" will definitely help show off the new Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper that is matted to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.
  • Die cut the largest Swirly Scribbles Thinlits from the new Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  Lay it on the Halloween Night Specialty paper to help position stamping the witch in the center.  The witch comes from the new Spooky Fun stamp set and was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink.  Quickly add Clear Stampin' Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Once that is done, then you can glue the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer die cut in place.  NOTE:  I didn't want to glue down the die cut because I didn't want Clear Embossing Powder to get caught up in the die cut.
  • The Spooky tree die comes from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Die set.  Set the die on a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measures 4" x 2-3/4" so that the tip of the tree is close to the top edge of the cardstock.  This is so that you leave enough room at the bottom for the scene of the landscape.

  • Adhere the Spooky tree to the bottom of the card by only adding Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the length of the ground area (do not add glue to the tree).  By leaving the tree unattached/unglued, it adds a little more 'spookie-ness' to the scene.  Tie some of the new Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine to the trunk and finish with a bow.

CreativeInkingHop-SpookyFunSide-Lori-DSC01448

  • Ink up the Tombstones using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a scrap piece of Smokey Slate cardstock.  Die cut using the coordinating framelit in the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Die set.
  • Ink up the sentiment using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  Cut each word into separate pieces using Stampin' Paper Snips.
  • Set the tombstones and sentiment word blocks in place with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sooo, what do you think?  I'm not sure what part of this card is my favorite....the witch centered in the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Swirly Scribble or the Spooky tree setting.  Please let me know your thoughts...I love to read all comments left for me. Don't forget, there are still more blogs to hop on...next on the hop is Dena Rekow's blog.  I know she will have an amazing creation to share with you.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

The Dog Days of Summer OSAT Blog Hop!!

OSAT-BlogHop-Header-2016

Good morning!  Welcome to our One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop for the month of August!  I know that I say this A LOT, but where the heck is this year going?  I could probably recap about 5 minutes of June...and, maybe, about 7-10 minutes of July, but with August half gone...well, it's soon to be history.  Yeee GADS!  Before I lose track of time, I want to thank you for stopping by to visit me. This may be your first stop on the hop (YEAH...muwhaaa!), or you may have come from the previous stampers blog. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each post.

This month's blog hop had me stumped on what to create and share with you.  Our theme is "Dog Days of Summer"....hmmmm...what's a stamper to do?  Well, I decided to poll a couple of my scrapbooking friends to see what they envisioned.  I got a variety of responses...HOT was the #1 answer, along with multiple other answers...sun, picnics, fun-in-the-sun, camping, boating, etc. All of those answers were good ones, but my creative MOJO was just not catching on.  haha!  I knew I wanted to create something using the new exclusive Thoughtful Branches stamp set and coordinating Beautiful Branches Thinlits dies.  Absolutely stunning bundle!  But, there was one particular sentiment in this set that is perfect for several of my close friends who have lost a parent and/or child within the last month.  Despite the high heat & humidity of summer, losing a loved one can make for a crummy summer.  Let's see how I did.

OSATHop-DogDaysSummer-Lori-DSC01389

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock, measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"" and scored at 4-1/4".  The heavier weight of this cardstock will help support many layers of cardstock and designer series paper, along with embellishments.
  • Using the regular weighted Whisper White cardstock, emboss it with the Elegant Dots folder. Then punch the bottom 2 corners using the Project Life corner rounder punch.  Add a strip of Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series paper.
  • Trim off a portion of a Delicate White Doily and top with a Circle die cut from a different Affectionately Yours designer paper pattern.  Add to the card front.
  • The tree consists of 2 dies from the Beautiful Branches Thinlits die set using Crumb Cake and Cucumber Crush cardstock.  Add dimensionals and set in place.

OSATHop-DogDaysSummerClose-Lori-DSC01394

  • The sentiment was inked with the Archival Basic Black ink and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.  Layer with a strip of Watermelon Wonder and banner cut both pieces.  Add dimensionals and tuck the under the tree trunk.  To enhance the softness of the occasion, add some Whisper White Baker's Twine to the tree trunk.
  • DID YOU KNOW? that you can click on any images I include related to the project to see an enlarged version?  Yep!  I do this so that you can see the details of my projects a weeee bit better. As I get older, I'm finding myself pulling out what I call my "granny glasses".  haha

Upcycled Canning Jelly Jar Project:  Okay, yes, yes, yes....I love to upcycle!  I can't help it...it's a handmade gift that is unique and will never be found in any store.  Plus, think of all the extra love that went into that extra special touch.  So stinkin' easy, adorable and extremely affordable!  Check out the yummies that now fill this 'used-to-be' jelly jar.

OSATHop-DogDaysSummerJar-Lori-DSC01399

 Creative Tips:

  • The belly band is the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon.
  • The tag is created using the Everyday Jars Framelits, Affectionately Yours Speciality Designer Series paper, Jar of Love, Delicate Doily, Soft Suede ink, Whisper White Baker's Twine and topped with a tag die cut from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Too much cuteness when filled with some yummy Heartland Melt-Away chocolates.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Tina Riddle’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something adorable to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Elizabeth Jeanne Thatcher’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
