Stamp It Blog Hop -- Vintage Thanksgiving

October2016-TeamStampIt-Header

Good morning stampers and paper crafters!  Thank you for stopping and Welcome aboard the October Stamp It Blog Hop!  This month's theme is related to anything regarding Thanksgiving. Can you believe that there is only about 4-1/2 weeks before the feasts of turkey (or, whatever your favorite traditional foods may be) fill the kitchen table?!!

If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Group Blog Hop, you may have come here from my dear friends, Teresa Howe's blog.  If this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Vintage and rustic are two of my favorite creative styles.  My card shows off one of the patterns from the Petals & Paisley's Specialty Designer Series Paper....it reminds me of the old Polyester suits worn back-in-the-day.  The focal image features a couple of Bundled products...designed to save you 10% when you purchase the coordinating items together. Would you believe me when I tell you that the Jolly Friends stamp set and the coordinating Jolly Hat Builder Punch make up the Cornucopia?  The flower images come from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set and coordinating Paisley Framelits.  Papercrafting made super easy!  Let's take a peek at the card.

Creative Tips:

  • Start with a Very Vanilla card base measuring 4-1/4" x 11" with a center score across the middle at 5-1/2".
  • The Layering Squares render some nice clean cuts of petite scallops to accompany the Petals & Paisley designer series paper layer and the main focal images.

StampItHop-ThanksgivingSide-Lori-DSC01737

  • To create the Cornucopia Horn, ink up the Hat in Crumb Cake and stamp onto Mint Macaroon cardstock. Use the Jolly Hat Builders punch to punch it out.  The flowers are inked in Delightful Dijon and Rich Razzleberry and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  These are cut out using the Paisley Framelits and attached to the Horn with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Add in some Gold Metallic Thread for a little bling.  Stamp the sentiment from the "One Big Meaning" stamp set onto Delightful Dijon cardstock with Soft Suede ink.  Tuck it under the bottom scalloped layer.
  • For a rustic effect, take your Crumb Cake marker (big marker end), and 'flick' ink randomly onto the card with the use of the marker cap.  Instead of using your fingernail to flick the ink, use the marker cap...this keeps you from having a brown inky finger for a day or two.  LOL!

Soooo, what do you think?  I think it turned out pretty quite lovely!  :)   There is lots more where that came from....you'll want to make sure you visit the other Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what Thanksgiving-themed projects they have to share.  Don't forget to come back real soon.

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- A Time of Thankfulness

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello my crafty stamper friends!  Welcome to my stop on the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of October! I am so very thankful that you are here to visit me and to check out what creative share I have for you this month.  Sooo, this month's theme is "Thankfulness", and you know, I have so much to be thankful for that my list is forever long.  As of yesterday, I had not a clue where to start my card crafting...I was lacking some inspiration.  That was until I received an update about a dear friend....a former high school business and Spanish teacher, my mentor and role model, who has taken a turn for the worse with her loooong battle with Pancreatic cancer.  She has been battling since 2003, all the while, with a positive outlook, upbeat and cheerful attitude, and a strong faith in our Dear Lord knowing that her life resides in the palm of his hands.  When I set out to craft last night, "Mrs. Stephens" was weighing heavily on my heart and mind as the family was arranging for Hospice care.  She is a beautiful woman who has touched and 'stamped' her amazing inspiration of love for life onto SO many individuals throughout the years.  <3  May God gently bring home an amazing Angel.  <3

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, based on the wonderful memories of a former teacher and continued inspiration from my friend, here is what I came up with.

CreativeInkingHop-Thankfulness-LoriDSC01719

I am in love with a new product in the Holiday catalog, Stampin' Up!s newest Seasonal Decorative Masks found on page 43, to create a soft, whimsical background that reminds me of country wheat fields....topped with images from the Acorny Thank You stamp set.

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is a non-traditional size measuring 4-1/4" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" to make it a perfect 4-1/4" square card.
  • Position the Decorative mask over the front of the cardbase and ink up a Stampin' sponge using Tip Top Taupe and swirl the inked sponge over the area.  Continue reinking your sponge and swirling to get the desired coverage and darkness of the pattern onto your card front.
  • The strip of Soft Sky cardstock was embossed using the Sparkle Textured Embossing Folder and the Bigshot.  Adhere to the cardbase using Fast Fuse or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

CreativeInkingHop-ThankfulnessSide-Lori-DSC01724

  • The main focal point is made up of a Gold Foil Doily that is flipped over to show the white side of the Doily.  The Gold Foil was a little bold when set against the sponged background.  Add a strip of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon that has been banner cut on the ends using Fast Fuse.  Stamp the Acorn images using Soft Sky and Sweet Sugarplum inks, punch out using the Acorn Builder Punch and set on the "messy" burlap strand using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Top it off with the Wild Wasabi sentiment banner, hand cut using Paper Snips and adhered to the acorn.

I am so "Thankful" to have all the memories of laughter, academic mentoring, and inspiration of hope to live life to the fullest...all with an amazing woman whom I will cherish forever in my heart. I love how stamping allows me to be free to express my thoughts and feelings with paper, ink and a few embellishments and tools.  I hope you will be inspired to create for that special someone in your life today.  Next stop on the hop is Dena Rekow ...I know she will have some amazing creation to share with you, too.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

OSAT Blog Hop -- Oh My, Pumpkins and Pie!!

OSAT-BlogHop-Header-2016
Good morning stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to our One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop for the month of October!  Fall is in the air, but Winter is lurking around the corner. I had to cover all of my Mums last night to ensure they do not get bitten by Jack Frost.  Boooo!  With that said, I am very thankful for your visit today. This may be your first stop on the hop (YEAH...muwhaaa!), or you may have come from the previous stampers blog. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each post.

The theme for our hop today is "Oh my, Pumpkins and Pie"!  This can leave a lot to the imagination on what to create, but I decided to go the easy way out and simply use the 'pumpkin' image found with the "Jar of Haunts" stamp set.  Which then constituted the need to do a little bit of watercoloring...I love my Aqua Painter!  My project is a simple card that has no sentiment.  Sometimes you just need a card that is ready to go any occasion, but I can envision several of the sentiments from the "Happy Happenings" stamp set stamped in the open area of the card.

OSATOctHop-JarOfHauntsCard-Lori-DSC01695

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is Very Vanilla cardstock, measuring 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2".
  • Watercolor paper is the main layer with a strip of torn Vellum cardstock to add a little rustic or vintage flair.
  • Using the Aqua Painter, lift ink from the lids of Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon and Sahara Sand and 'wash' them onto the watercolor paper.
  • The splatters are done by flicking the brush end of the Early Espresso marker against the inside of the cap/lid of the marker.  NOTE:  This is used instead of using my fingernail...less ink on my fingers, too.  ;)

OSATOctHop-JarOfHauntsCard-Lori-DSC01701

  • Stamp the pumpkin and stem/leaf images using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a piece of Watercolor paper.  Watercolor the pumpkin using Mint Macaron, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze inks.  Pop them up on the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Garnish with a few of the White Perfect Accents.
  • DID YOU KNOW? that you can click on any images I include related to the project to see an enlarged version?  Yep!  I do this so that you can see the details of my projects a weeee bit better. As I get older, I'm finding myself pulling out what I call my "granny glasses".  haha

Jar of Haunts Candy Treat Box Project:  One of my favorite things in the Stampin' Up! catalog is the ease of using framelit dies to create fun little candy treat packages.  Our office hires students to help the main office run smoothly each day.  It will be a snap to create a half dozen of these little gems to pass out to them.

OSATOctHop-JarOfHauntsTreatBox-Lori-DSC01709

 Creative Tips:

  • The Jar of Love Framelits die cut from Pumpkin Pie cardstock line the front and back of a small box.
  • The sentiment comes from the Jar of Haunts stamp set, inked in Archival Basic Black and stamped onto Pumpkin Pie.  The jar ring is inked using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamped onto Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Garnish with Pumpkin Pie/Black Baker's Twine and some Metallic Black thread.  Two Hershey's nuggets wrapped with a strip of Halloween Nights Designer Series Paper fit perfectly inside the little box.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Justin Krieger’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something adorable to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Lisa Altman’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Ultimate Pink Blog Hop -- Stampin' Up! Demonstrators Craft Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness

UltimatePinkBlogHop-Header

Good morning stampers & crafters!

Welcome to the first ever Ultimate Pink Blog Hop -- a collection of ideas from Stampin' Up! demonstrators who have gathered together from all over the globe featuring shades of pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  As a 7-year-survivor of breast cancer, this blog hop resonates deeply in my heart and soul.  I was diagnosed at an early age...before mammograms were prescribed and recommended for an age below 45-50, but it was me being proactive and doing self-checks.  Fortunately for me, I discovered the aggressively growing lump early on. I have been richly blessed by God to continue my life; and to be surrounded by so many family and friends that truly love and care for me.  I thank God for every new day.

I was inspired by a card I saw somewhere on the internet (memory is overwhelmed at the moment) showcasing the Pop Of Pink Suite of products available in the big Annual Stampin' Up! catalog (page 84-85).  It is so much fun to see everything come to life with the Pop of Pink Specialty paper and the Pop of Paradise stamp set.

UltimatePinkHop-PopOfParadise-Lori-DSC01588

 Creative Tips:

  • Even though you can't see if from the front of the card, I chose to go with the Whisper White Thick cardstock for my cardbase (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4").  I knew that I was going to have quite a bit of White displayed with the stamping and designer series paper; therefore, I cut the Melon Mambo cardstock layer the same measurements as the cardbase front...5-1/2" x 4-1/4" and glue it with all sides flush to the base.
  • The top black and white layer comes from the Pop of Pink Specialty paper pack; while the bottom layer has been stamped randomly with stamps from the Pop Of Paradise stamp set using Melon Mambo and Archival Basic Black ink.  Add a strip of Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tap across the seam and wrap the Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine around the matted layer and tie in a bow.  Glue this layer to the front of the Whisper White cardbase.
  • Stamp the heart-shaped "Thinking of you" sentiment with VersaMark onto Basic Black cardstock, cover with Silver embossing powder and set with the Heat Tool on the high setting.  Hand cut the heart with Paper Snips.

UltimatePinkHop-PopOfParadiseSide-Lori-DSC01597

  • Cut a solid heart out of Silver Glimmer paper using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies.  Cut another heart out of Melon Mambo using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Die. Layer the 3 hearts and add Stampin' Dimensionals on the sentiment layer. Use Fast Fuse or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to set the whole heart ensemble into place on the card front.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop....I am really excited that you are here.  To continue to be inspired, there are many (many) more amazing "Pink" ideas to add joy and a smile to that special someone's day.  I'm sure that we all know someone who could use a little lift to their spirit...you won't want to miss checking out all of the blogs!  I'll be traveling right behind you. Remember you are currently at (Lori Mueller's -- Stampin' Dreams blog), so please check the blog hop line up below and be sure to click the next blog participant's name on the list.
