A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop -- A Sara Thing Kit

PPHop-HeaderPic

Hello Stampers and Papercrafters!  Welcome to our very first A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!  A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the monthly kit.  This month's hop features the wonderful "A Sara Thing" kit.  I am a culprit of habit, and don't always get my box opened, and when I do, it is to create the projects in the way that the instructions are laid out.  So, I am super excited to be a member of this group so that I can make myself 'think outside the box'!  *giggle*  Let's see how I did.

PPSaraThingHop-LoveYouMom-Lori-DSC04796

I knew that I was going to do something with the embossed heart, but in my head it looked more like a diamond.  I am very fortunate that I have two jewels in my life...my Mom and my Mother-in-Law!  Both are amazing women and I would not trade them for anything.

I used most of the supplies that came in the kit, but added a few things that weren't.  The Whisper White layer is matted to a piece of Cucumber Crush; and I added a strip of Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Brights Paper Stack.  Shaker cards are always a fun, so I cut out the center of the embossed heart with a Sweet & Sassy heart framelit and backed it with a piece of Window Sheet.

PPSaraThingHop-LoveYouMomFlat-Lori-DSC04793

The kit came with a free set of 4 Watercolor Pencils, so I stuck with coloring the entire embossed heart with Rich Razzleberry.  I stamped the "You" sentiment with Archival Basic Black ink onto the Window Sheet before adding Foam Adhesive Strips to the back to create the shaker component.  Add a piece of Delicate White Doilies for a more feminine appeal and top with one of the Rich Razzleberry flower accents and leaves.

Grab your retired items fast....everything is while supplies last!  My Paper Pumpkin card project used the following items that are on the Retirement List.  The last day to purchase what remains on the Retirement List is May 31, 2017.

  • Cucumber Crush Cardstock
  • Brights Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Confetti Hearts Border Punch

My project share today displays the wonderful Touches of Texture stamp set showing off the beautiful 2016-2108 In Colors...Peekaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, and Sweet Sugarplum.  The sentiment comes from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set that was inked with VersaMark onto Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed with White embossing powder.

The Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack and coordinating Washi Tape are both on the Retirement list.  If you want them, you really should run to your computer and place your order because everything is only while supplies last.

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Stampin' Up! Color Challenge

 CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello, hello crafty stamper friends!  I'm so happy that you are here to check out our Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of April!  I'm really excited with this month's hop because we are doing something that I haven't done in a while...work with a Color Challenge!  I am in love with the color choices...don't they look super yummy?!!  Reminds me of a beautiful bucket of Sherbert.  Oh my, and I may have to run to the store and get some when I'm done with this post.  hehe!

ColorChallenge-Swatches

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

CreativeInkingHop-GorgeousGrungeApril-Lori-DSC04752

Instead of creating a card that was making me hungry for Sherbert, I decided to make a non-traditional graduation card.  I receive a lot of requests to custom make graduation announcements and coordinating Thank You cards in their school colors, so it was a lot of fun to play with new colors for the same occasion.

Creative Tips:

  • Pear Pizzazz sets the stage with the cardbase...mainly because I knew that I want to incorporate a flower of some sort into the focal point area.
  • The Very Vanilla piece was remnant from another project, which worked perfect for me to accent it with the Writing Notes Background stamp.  It was inked in Basic Gray, stamped off once onto scrap paper, then a second stamping onto the Very Vanilla layer.  I was not worried about getting a full image of the stamp; therefore, the reason you see some lighter inked areas.  Kind of like a worn notebook.

  CreativeInkingHop-GorgeousGrungeApril-Lori-DSC04751

  • Now to add color!  I love Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and will miss it dearly.  Yes, it is on the Retirement List.  I used a couple of the images to add the yummy colors of Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo.  Again, I did the first stamping onto scrap paper, then stamped a 2nd time onto the Very Vanilla layer.  I did not want the stamping to overpower the focal point I had in mind.
  • Add the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits diecut in Pear Pizzazz to bring the challenge together.
  • The die cut flower comes from the Succulent Framelits Dies.  That, too, has landed on the Retirement List!  I got a lot of use out of this die set that I know I will not be able to part with it.  Before setting it into place, I added some Copper Metallic Thread to help tie in the strip of Copper foil layered with the Very Vanilla panel.
  • You can't have a graduation card without a sentiment of good wishes!  This one comes from the Suite Sentiments stamp set...again, this set is on the Retirement List, too.  Inked in Soft Suede and backed with some Peekaboo Peach 5/8" Ruched Ribbon and a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock.  Set in place with Stampin' Dimensionals.
    .

Soooo, what do you think?  Clean, simple, and oh-so pretty.  Don't forget!  If you don't have any of the products I used, you'll want to make sure to submit your order...everything is while supplies last.  I hope you will give it a try.

I'm anxious to jump on this "Designer Series Paper Showcase" to grab my own inspiration from the rest of the group.  You'll want to make sure and hop on over to Linda Bauwin's blog...she is one creative cookie, I tell you. Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

Help Us Stamp Out Autism -- Because Autism Matters Blog Hop

AutismPuzzleHeader-Image

Welcome to the 2017 Autism Matters Blog Hop!  As you travel the hop, you will see the intent is to raise awareness on Autism, as well as, raise funds for Autism research, resources and services for those affected by autism and to advocate for the needs of those with autism.  I am so honored to be a part of creating a pathway to spreading the word with so many awesome Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from across the country who have agreed to take part in this hop!

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as, by unique strengths and differences.  We now know that there is not one autism, but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences.

Each member of this blog hop will be sharing a fact about autism with you so as you roll through the hop, you’ll hopefully learn a little about autism too!

Facts AboutAutism-PuzzleHeart

Did you know? Boys are 4 times more likely to have Autism than girls.

The color palette for my card stems from the colors recognizing autism...red, blue and yellow.  In true Stampin' Up! lingo, those colors are Real Red, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight.  The sentiment comes from the Beautiful You stamp set, which, that alone, says it all for this wonderful cause.

Thanks for joining us for our blog hop!  If you’d like to help by providing a donation to Autism Speaks for research and services for those affected by autism, you can click on the heart banner below or right here, every dollar helps!

My Fundraising Page: The purpose of the blog hop is to raise awareness, as you will see many people doing this month, and to raise money for Autism Speaks - an organization that funds research, provides resources and advocacy for families. You can make a tax-deductible donation of any amount at my page here. My goal is to raise $500 (and more, if possible), so if you can help in any way - please do!  I love to create cards, and I would love to inspire you to donate to help me meet my fundraising goal.  With every $25 donation, I will send you a handmade (by me) thank you card.  In order to gather your information, you will need to list your name on the donations page and contact me via email to provide me with your mailing address.

OSAT Blog Hop -- Oh So Succulent Flower Power

  OSATBlogHop-2017Header

Good morning stampers, and Welcome to my stop on the hop!  April Showers, Bring May Flowers...perfect for our One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop.  As I was preparing my projects, my mind was thinking about one of my team members who does not like flowers.  eeek!  Who doesn't like flowers?!!  Well, it's only the flowers that come in a stamp set...I do believe that she is okay with her hubby surprising her with a lovely bouquet now and again.  haha!  Over the last year, she has started coming out of her shell and flower images are starting to grow on her...well, at least, she has been making cards with them, anyway.  WHEW!! This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from Lisa Altman's blog. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each post.

The theme for our hop today is "Flower Power".  Since the Retiring List came out yesterday, I thought I had better give some love to a few items that made the list...Oh So Succulent stamp set and the coordinating Succulent Framelits Dies are on that list.  So, if you feel inspired by my projects, I highly recommend that you run to my online store and purchase yourself the bundle. Everything is while supplies last! I am sooo excited about my project shares because I totally had my Mom in mind while creating it.  The sentiment "Because of you, I am me" resonates so soundly in my heart.  All my life, I have been told "you are so much like your Mother"....you are a "Judy Junior".  My Mom and I were not very close when I lived at home.  We are so much alike that we butted heads....A LOT! But, over the years, I yearn to spend more time with her...and more proud, everyday, to "be just like Mom".  It is because of her (and my sweet grandmother) that I have a deep flow of DIY/crafty blood streaming through my veins.  I'm the oldest of 4 kids, and the only one who carries the passion. And, I'm loving every bit of it!  I love you, Mom!!  It truly is "Because of you, I am me."

OSATHop-FlowerPowerOhSucculentCard-Lori-DSC04707

Creative Tips:

  • Working with the colors that coordinate with the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack, I selected Peekaboo Peach for the card base.  Layer on a piece of designer paper onto the card front.
  • Use the Aqua Painter to color on some Peekaboo Peach ink in the center.  Run the Very Vanilla layer through the Big Shot using the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. Adhere this layer to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid glue.

OSATHop-FlowerPowerOhSucculentCardFlat-Lori-DSC04709

  • The focal image is a Stitched Circle die cut from Peekaboo Peach cardstock.  Add some Silver Metallic Thread and top with the flower images that have been stamped using Archival Basic Black, Sweet Sugarplum.  The sprigs of greenery are stamped using Emerald Envy, then handcut.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment with VersaMark and White Embossing Powder.

Inspirational Tag:  The Tags & Labels Framelits Dies made the Retiring List.  I used the largest die of this shape to cut a tag from the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper stack.  The Peekaboo Peach flower was created with 3 of the dies in the Succulent Framelits Dies set.  I heat embossed the sentiment with White Embossing powder onto a strip of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and popped it into place with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Top it off with some 3/8" Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon and Basic Black Bakers Twine.

OSATHop-OhSucculentTag-Lori-DSC04714

Creative Tips:

  • One of my most favorite things about creating is the opportunity for coordination of colors...all under one catalog cover!  From cardstocks to inks to accessories...the flow of color shines through with complimentary projects.  I love how I was able to tie the colors together...saves time and money to have it all at my fingertips.
  • DID YOU KNOW? that you can click on any images I include related to the project to see an enlarged version?  Yep!  I do this so that you can see the details of my projects a weeee bit better. As I get older, I'm finding myself pulling out what I call my "granny glasses".  haha

The following products used are on the Retiring List:

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Maria Willis’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something adorable to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Lisa Altman's blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
