A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop -- Pining for Plaid

Hello Stampers and Papercrafters!  It's October and it's time for A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!  Welcome--welcome--welcome!!  A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the monthly kit.  I'm super excited to have you stop by to check out my altered creation for today.

PPHop-HeaderPic

This month's hop features the fun and playful "Pining for Plaid" kit.  The stamp set included with this kit showcases a couple of detailed snowflakes and accent images; and I love the font used for all of the Christmas greetings.  The package of product supplies in this month's kit was packed full to create 10 shaker cards, plus, leaving extra pieces to continue creating alternate projects once the entire kit has been assembled!

PP-October2017-Kit-Image

I was immediately in love with the colors of Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black incorporated into this months cards...they are an excellent combination that are rich and down-to-earth.  Of course my mind was running many ideas through the creative wheel....it didn't take me long to land on one (contrary to other designing sessions--haha)!  With that said, I am super {SUPER} excited to share my altered kit project with you...let's take a peek!

PPThingHop-PiningPlaidMerryBanner-Lori-DSC05814
The hype for this kit is real!  The Old Olive and Basic Black plaid pattern for the cardbases is amazing!  It's just like the plaid pattern found in the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper available in the Holiday catalog, but in a much smaller scale.  LOVE-Love-love!  The kit is a shaker card kit, which adds a bit more excitement for the recipient (and, crafter, too...teehehe).  Who doesn't like to "shake, shake, shake" little sequins and gold stars?!!

PPThingHop-PiningPlaidMerryBannerClose-Lori-DSC05814
As you have gotten to know me, I love the rustic look. So instead of using the supplies to create the intended cards, all I could think of was a banner...a really, cute, rustic "Merry" banner.  When you fold the card base, the front and back of the card is the super cute plaid pattern.  I decided to cut the card base right down the middle at 4-1/4.  Then, I took each half and cut them in half again at the 2-3/4" mark.  The Kraft matte layer comes from the Merry Little Christmas 12" x 12" Cardstock pack.

Banner details:

  • Large Letters Framelits die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Layering Scallop Circle die cut from Kraft cardstcock topped with a coordinating Basic Black Stitched Circle.  Slip the Gold banner from the kit supplies in between the 2 layers when gluing
  • Position letters on the Circles with Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Accent with Linen Thread and Vellum cardstock and Kraft sprigs die cut from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits die set
  • Punch holes in both corners and thread Jute Twine for hanging

What do you think?  Super cute, right?!!  I hope you think so...and, that you'll run and make one for yourself.  That would really make my day.  If you do, please share with me when you get a chance.

To get more inspiration for alternative ideas creating with the October Paper Pumpkin kit, make sure you visit the other A Paper Pumpkin Thing Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  I'll be on your heals to soak in the new ideas and inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

When I was creating this card, my heart was glowing so brightly thinking about all of the wonderful friends, super supportive customers, amazing members of Lori's Dream Team and anyone who stops by my blog to visit.  I love everything about this card...from the Soft Sky scallop edge (die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits) to the sunflowers bordered with the color of Garden Green.

PaintedAutumnFlat-October-Lori-DSC05789

The sentiment from the Painted Harvest stamp set is my all-time favorite as it reflects what I am truly feeling in my heart.  I am a farm girl at heart, so my heart tugs at creating something rustic...adding some Burlap Ribbon, Linen Thread and a hint of Vellum leaves is the perfect touch to a country card.

I am sooo thankful for each and everyone you!

Again, thank you--thank you--thank you!  I greatly appreciate you stopping by to visit me.  I love the visits; and it warms my heart to read your thoughts you share with each comment.  If you haven't already, please share and invite your friends to stop by.  Oh, and subscribe to my blog so that you don't miss a single post.  I can't express how very passionate I am to share my love for papercrafting with you.

October Stamp It Blog Hop -- Thanksgiving

  Thanksgiving-blog-hop

Good Morning stampers and paper crafters!  I'm so excited to have you visiting me. Welcome to my spot on the Stamp It Bog Hop for the month of October.  This month's theme is Thanksgiving.  I have a dear friend who has been taking lots of pictures of the change of leaves in her area.  The time lapse showcasing the change in color has been breathtaking; thus, the outcome of my card project.  I have several friends struggling with health complications and/or have lost a loved one...they could use a little extra special love sent their way....beautiful happy mail to put a smile on their face and in their heart.

If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Group Blog Hop, you may have come here from, Linda Cullen's blog.  If this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

StampIthpp-ThanksgivingLeaves-LoriDSC05651

I love creating cards that stray away from the traditional A2 card base size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2").  There was a left over piece of Kraft cardstock sitting in the Merry Little Christmas 12" x 12" Cardstock pack that was only 4" wide.  **squeal**  Perfect opportunity to create something 'unusual'.

StampItHop-ThanksgivingLeavesFlat-Lori-DSC05655

My favorite time of the year is the Fall season and the leaves dies that come in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set are sooo much fun.  When I was figuring out an arrangement of the Fresh Fig, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie colored leaves, I decided to leave the little pieces in the large intricate pieces.  As the leaves fall from the tree, they are still whole, but as we rake them into a pile, some will have little hallowed areas as the dried areas crumble.

To add some balance, the large scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits helped with the Old Olive matte layer attached to the Pinewood Planks Very Vanilla layer.  The sentiment comes from the coordinating stamp set called Colorful Seasons...die cut from the Lovely Laurel Thinlits die set.

For more Thanksgiving themed inspiration, make sure you hop on over to Pam Nichols's blog and all the other Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  Thank you so much for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Sooo, I have a serious question for you.  What are your thoughts about Designer Series Paper?  I mean, do you like it so much that you use LOTS of it for your projects?  OR, do you like it soooo much that you struggle to cut into those beautiful designer pages?  To be honest, I'm one that goes in spurts in either direction, but I tend to sway heavier to the fear of cutting and using the many pounds of Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper I have in my house!  Yes, I have POUNDS of it.  Raise your hand if you are standing in my boat.  haha!  Well, this blog hop is here today especially for crafters like you and me!  This hop is going to showcase multiple ways/projects on how to use your beloved Designer Series Paper....share. and. use. it. up!!  I'm quite excited to share my projects with you, so let's mosey on and take a peek.

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Lynn Streifert's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

CreativeInking-DSP-4Notecards-Lori-DSC05769

I am excited about the Quilted Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and showcasing my fun group of cards.  I capitalized on the huge sale that Stampin' Up! had earlier this month with the Notecards and Envelopes pack.  With 20 card bases and coordinating sized envelopes, you can get 20 notecards made up for $5-something!  That was a steal!  Pair the Quilted Christmas paper with a sentiment from the Tags & Trimmings stamp set, and you can create a boat load of note cards lickety-split using this fun and easy layout.

Creative Tips:

  • I love that Stampin' Up! takes all the guesswork out of deciding on color choices and coordination.  This set features all of the colors listed from the Quilted Christmas 6" x 6" pack...Blushing Bride, Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Real Red, and Whisper White.

CreativeInking-DSP-GardenGreen-Lori-DSC05775

  • This clean and simple layout displays the busier patterns very well without making your eyes go bug-gey.  Plus, choosing the matte cardstock layer is easy to coordinate with the specific pattern chosen  :)  Also, with a clean look, you can easily transform the cards to All Occasion, Birthday, Sympathy, party invites, etc.

CreativeInking-DSP-Triangles-Lori-DSC05772

  • Add the Real Red strip of cardstock to enhance a little contrast and help tone down any of the busier designer series pattern(s).  Ribbons and bows are good, too.

CreativeInking-DSP-BlushingBride-Lori-DSC05776

  • To bring it all together, coordinate your ink color for the sentiment to match a color visible in the Designer Series Paper layer. This will add a bit of "pop" within the project. Choose a color from the Designer Series Paper to compliment the sentiment with a scallop oval die cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits!

OSAT Blog Hop -- Fall and Halloween

OSATBlogHop-2017Header

Good morning stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to my stop on the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop for the month of October!  This months theme is anything Fall and Halloween.  Because I have been on an everything Halloween the last several weeks, I decided to change things up a bit and strive for a mixture of the two...Falloween.  Teehehe

This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from my dear friend Maria Willis's blog. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each blogger's post.

OSATHop-FallHalloweenPatternedPumpkins-Lori-DSC05619

OMGosh!!!  I am so in love with the Pinewood Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder!  Just like the Spooky Cat stamp set and Cat Punch, this Pinewood texture is perfect for Fall-ish type cards.  It would be perfect for scrapbook pages, too!

The narrow strips are scraps of Watercolor Paper that I could not bare to toss into File #13 (aka...trash can).  Before adhering the strips to a piece of Garden Green cardstock, I put the strips tightly against each other so that I could give them a watercolor wash of Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight and Peek-a-boo Peach.  Then I dry embossed all the strips using the Big Shot and the Pinewood Embossing Folder.  Lastly, I sponged all edges of each watercolor strip with Soft Suede classic ink to give it a backyard board-on-board fenced-type background look.  LOVE-Love-love!!

OSATHop-PatternedPumpkinsFlat-Lori-DSC05622

Next, my Big Shot got a little workout with the Stitched Circle Framelit and a pumpkin from the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies set. The leaves were stamped with Garden Green Classic ink onto Garden Green cardstock (aka...Tone-on-tone stamping technique).  No fussy cutting necessary because Stampin' Up! has a leaf punch for that!  **squeal**  Add a strip of Burlap Ribbon, Metallic Gold Thread and some Glitter Enamel Dots to the picture and you've got yourself a beautiful Fall or subtle Halloween card.

Coordinating Patterned Pumpkins Tag

I love making coordinating gift tags!  I had a scrap piece of 2" x 3-3/4" Watercolor Paper, so I gave it the similar wash of colors used for the card, punched the top with the Scalloped punch, embossed with the Pinewood Embossing Folder, and decorated it with a Patterned Pumpkin set on top of a 2-1/2" Gold Foil punched circle and more leaves.  To tone down the Gold Foil, I sponged the edges of the pumpkin pieces with Soft Suede and glued them back into their spaces. Super adorable!

2nd Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop -- Crafting Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness

2ndAnnualPinkBlogHop-Graphic

Good morning stampers & crafters!

Welcome to the first ever Ultimate Pink Blog Hop -- a collection of ideas from Stampin' Up! demonstrators who have gathered together from all over the globe featuring shades of pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  As a 7-year-survivor of breast cancer, this blog hop resonates deeply in my heart and soul.  I was diagnosed at an early age...before mammograms were prescribed and recommended for an age below 45-50, but it was me being proactive and doing self-checks.  Fortunately for me, I discovered the aggressively growing lump early on. I have been richly blessed by God to continue my life; and to be surrounded by so many family and friends that truly love and care for me.  I thank God for every new day.

I was inspired by a card I saw somewhere on the internet (memory is overwhelmed at the moment) showcasing the Pop Of Pink Suite of products available in the big Annual Stampin' Up! catalog (page 84-85).  It is so much fun to see everything come to life with the Pop of Pink Specialty paper and the Pop of Paradise stamp set.

UltimatePinkHop-PopOfParadise-Lori-DSC01588

 Creative Tips:

  • Even though you can't see if from the front of the card, I chose to go with the Whisper White Thick cardstock for my cardbase (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4").  I knew that I was going to have quite a bit of White displayed with the stamping and designer series paper; therefore, I cut the Melon Mambo cardstock layer the same measurements as the cardbase front...5-1/2" x 4-1/4" and glue it with all sides flush to the base.
  • The top black and white layer comes from the Pop of Pink Specialty paper pack; while the bottom layer has been stamped randomly with stamps from the Pop Of Paradise stamp set using Melon Mambo and Archival Basic Black ink.  Add a strip of Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tap across the seam and wrap the Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine around the matted layer and tie in a bow.  Glue this layer to the front of the Whisper White cardbase.
  • Stamp the heart-shaped "Thinking of you" sentiment with VersaMark onto Basic Black cardstock, cover with Silver embossing powder and set with the Heat Tool on the high setting.  Hand cut the heart with Paper Snips.

UltimatePinkHop-PopOfParadiseSide-Lori-DSC01597

  • Cut a solid heart out of Silver Glimmer paper using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies.  Cut another heart out of Melon Mambo using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Die. Layer the 3 hearts and add Stampin' Dimensionals on the sentiment layer. Use Fast Fuse or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to set the whole heart ensemble into place on the card front.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop....I am really excited that you are here.  To continue to be inspired, there are many (many) more amazing "Pink" ideas to add joy and a smile to that special someone's day.  I'm sure that we all know someone who could use a little lift to their spirit...you won't want to miss checking out all of the blogs!  I'll be traveling right behind you. Remember you are currently at (Lori Mueller's -- Stampin' Dreams blog), so please check the blog hop line up below and be sure to click the next blog participant's name on the list.

I can't thank you enough; and greatly appreciate you stopping by to visit me.  I love the visits; and it warms my heart to read your thoughts you share with each comment.  If you haven't already, please share and invite your friends to stop by.  Oh, and subscribe to my blog so that you don't miss a single post.  As much as stamping and papercrafting is therapeutic for me, I can't express how very passionate I am to share my love for papercrafting with you.
