This month's hop features the fun and playful "Pining for Plaid" kit. The stamp set included with this kit showcases a couple of detailed snowflakes and accent images; and I love the font used for all of the Christmas greetings. The package of product supplies in this month's kit was packed full to create 10 shaker cards, plus, leaving extra pieces to continue creating alternate projects once the entire kit has been assembled!
I was immediately in love with the colors of Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black incorporated into this months cards...they are an excellent combination that are rich and down-to-earth. Of course my mind was running many ideas through the creative wheel....it didn't take me long to land on one (contrary to other designing sessions--haha)! With that said, I am super {SUPER} excited to share my altered kit project with you...let's take a peek!
The hype for this kit is real! The Old Olive and Basic Black plaid pattern for the cardbases is amazing! It's just like the plaid pattern found in the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper available in the Holiday catalog, but in a much smaller scale. LOVE-Love-love! The kit is a shaker card kit, which adds a bit more excitement for the recipient (and, crafter, too...teehehe). Who doesn't like to "shake, shake, shake" little sequins and gold stars?!!
As you have gotten to know me, I love the rustic look. So instead of using the supplies to create the intended cards, all I could think of was a banner...a really, cute, rustic "Merry" banner. When you fold the card base, the front and back of the card is the super cute plaid pattern. I decided to cut the card base right down the middle at 4-1/4. Then, I took each half and cut them in half again at the 2-3/4" mark. The Kraft matte layer comes from the Merry Little Christmas 12" x 12" Cardstock pack.
Banner details:
- Large Letters Framelits die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
- Layering Scallop Circle die cut from Kraft cardstcock topped with a coordinating Basic Black Stitched Circle. Slip the Gold banner from the kit supplies in between the 2 layers when gluing
- Position letters on the Circles with Stampin' Dimensionals
- Accent with Linen Thread and Vellum cardstock and Kraft sprigs die cut from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits die set
- Punch holes in both corners and thread Jute Twine for hanging
What do you think? Super cute, right?!! I hope you think so...and, that you'll run and make one for yourself. That would really make my day. If you do, please share with me when you get a chance.
