A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop -- Back in Plaid November Kit

Hello and welcome Stampers and Papercrafters!  It's the last day of November (eeek!), which means that it's time for A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!  A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the monthly kit.  I'm super excited that you have stopped by to check out my altered creation for today.

PPHop-HeaderPic

This month's hop features the fun and playful "Back in Plaid" kit.  The stamp set includes several sentiments with a fun and whimsical font.  Every box is filled with 10 muslin stockings with a buffalo checked cuff and a boat load of product supplies to create the most adorable stockings that are ready to be filled with your favorite candies, beautiful jewelry, or make it a quick and easy gift card holder.  The imagination and uses are endless!

Once I saw what this month's kit included, there was no way that I could bring myself to alter those adorable stockings!  Mine are going to make the best little gift holders of candy-n-cash for the loved ones on my list.  Soooo, what was I to do for an altered project using the supplies in the kit?  Well, there is always the stamp set and ink left over after each kits supplies are depleted, so a card it is!

PP-Nov2017-BackInPlaid-Lori-DSC05924

The color combination for this kit is focused on Old Olive, Dapper Denim and Cherry Cobbler, so that's what I used for my card.  I kinda like them together...what do you think?  Is this a color combination you would try?

PP-Nov2017-BackInPlaidFlat-Lori-DSC05931

I decided to create a shaker card, which is what the October kit was all about.  I had purchased the Winter Wonder Textured Embossing Folder a while back, but have never found the project to use it.  Well, this was it...I embossed a piece of Window Sheet after it was attached to the back of the Dapper Denim panel so that the extensions of the Winter Wonder snowflake would emboss onto the cardstock.  I had leftover sequins from the October kit to use, too.

What do you think?  Super cute, right?!!  I hope you think so...and, that you'll run and make one for yourself.  That would really make my day.  If you do, please share with me when you get a chance.

To get more inspiration for alternative ideas creating with the November Paper Pumpkin kit, make sure you visit the other A Paper Pumpkin Thing Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  I'll be on your heals to soak in the new ideas and inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Monika Davis’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something adorable to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Megan Thompson's blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Can you believe that this is the FIRST time that I have opened the package of Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper and actually CUT into it?!!  Yes, I have opened it to show it off to other friends and customers, but for the life of me, WHY did I wait sooo long to use it?  Geesh!  This paper is absolutely gorgeous!

Creative Tips:

  • So, truth be told, this is what I started with...a wooden ornament of some sort.  Yes, the wine bottle and glass picture looks really nice, and all, but I knew that I was going to be able to alter it to something a little more fun and festive.  You see, I purchased about 20 of these things at JoAnn's Fabric on clearance (~$.50 each) after the holidays about 2 years ago.  Eeek!  Hey, it's like a fine wine...some things just take time!  haha  The wooden piece measures 6" tall x 3-1/4" wide.

CreativeInkingHop-GiftIdeaWoodNov-Lori-DSC05909

  • The lumberjack checkered/plaid patterns are SUPER popular right now....clothing, bags, curtains, and even...you guessed it, Designer Series Paper!  Since this is a Specialty paper, there are only patterns on one side of the papers...and, these papers are a bit more heavier than our double-sided designer papers, too.  The heavier weight makes it nice to create gift boxes and not have to worry about hairline tears and not withstanding the weight of the gift.  LOVE it!

CreativeInkingHop-GiftIdeasNov-Lori-DSC05916

  • Yes, I did fussy cut the vine, but it was sooo worth it!  Look how elegant and gorgeous that Copper is against the Gold lumberjack plaid pattern!  The sentiment comes from the Hearts Come Home stamp set and was heat embossed with Copper embossing powder onto Shimmery White cardstock.  LOVE it!

I hope I have enabled you to run to your crafting space to see what you have stashed away for clearance rack purchases.  If you don't have any of the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper, then you need to get some ordered...you won't regret it.  Plus, you are going to have sooo much fun! Click on the images to be taken directly to my online shopping.  I would be very, very appreciative of your shopping excursion through my online store.  I can't wait to see what handmade gifts you create for your family and friends.

I love creating cards with lots of dimension.

StampItHop-PaintedHarvestWreathFlat-Lori-DSC05906

My favorite time of the year is the Fall season but these leaves from the Painted Harvest stamp set make a pretty cool wreath, too, don't you think?

StampItHop-XmasPaintedHarvestWreath-Lori-DSC05907

To create the dimensional appearance of a real wreath, only add adhesive to the stems of the leaves.  Let the remaining leaves be free to be loose and curled a bit with your fingers or bone folder.

For more Christmas themed inspiration, make sure you hop on over to Pam Nichols's blog and all the other Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  Thank you so much for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

OSAT Blog Hop -- Winter Holiday

OSATBlogHop-2017Header

Good morning stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to my stop on the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop for the month of November!  This months theme is showing off papercrafted projects for the Winter Holiday.  WOW!!  There are sooo many ideas rumbling through my head just because it's the biggest holiday of the year.  The inspiration you seek will be endless!

This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from the very talented Dena Rekow's blog. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each blogger's post.

OSATHop-WinterHoliday-RibbonCourage-Lori-DSC05874

LOVE-Love-Love the non-traditional Holiday colors!  From the watercolored Fresh Fig all the way to the Pool Party and Powder Pink snowflakes separated by Dazzlinging Diamonds snowflakes.  Add a little Linen Thread bow and some wooden hearts from the Hearts & Stars Embellishments and you've got a Holiday Winter to remember for a very long time.  Soooo pretty!

OSATHop-WinterHoliday-RibbonCourtage-Lori-DSC05871

The snowflakes came from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set and the Seasonal Tags Framelits dies set that were placed intermittently around the Silver embossed sentiment that comes from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set.  I like the subtleness of the Silver sentiment, but I'm wondering if it shouldn't be embossed in Basic Black?  What do you think?  I may have to create another one and share the comparison in another post.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to Kelly Acheson’s blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know that she will have something adorable to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Dena Rekow's blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
