OSAT Blog Hop — I Need to Thank a Hero

Hello-Hello stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to my blog and the September One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop!  This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from the previous OSAT designer. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the next person in line within the list of blogger's posted at the end.

This month's theme is "I Need a Hero".  Now this could be a teacher, nurse, doctor, military, police, etc.  My family has members in the military, medical field, and on the police force.  Since the anniversary of the devastating 9-11 tragedy, I decided to focus my card towards the American Flag — the good Red, White and Blue.  Soooo many heros pulled together and pooled their skills and undivided attention to help with the situation handed to them.

I found this image of the American flag as my creative inspiration.  There was something about the background that really stood out for me.

To mimic the background, I thought Gray Granite cardstock was a nice hued neutral...not too light and not too dark.

It has been a while since I've played with the various Embossing Pastes and Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  To emulate the flag, I washed some Night of Navy ink using the Aqua Painter...let it dry, then created 'stars' smearing some of the Shimmery White Embossing Paste over one of the Decorative Masks.  The stripes were made using the regular Embossing Paste, which is white to start with.  Simply mix in Real Red Reinker to a small scoop of paste and you have red stripes!

Silver and Whisper White Baker's Twine compliments the sparkle from the Shimmery White stars.  The sentiment comes from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set...perfect for all Hero's...they truly GIVE of themselves to help, care and save others!  I hope you enjoyed my tribute card to all of the Hero's near and far.

Thank our Hero's Candy Sleeve

It only seemed fitting that I fill a 2" x 8" Cellophane Bag with Red, White & Blue M&M's and add a tag to compliment the Thank You card I shared above.  The Stitched Oval Framelit was die cut from Gray Granite and matted with a Night of Navy Layering Scalloped Oval.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next OSAT designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
