I knew the minute I saw the plaid box that Stampin' Up! was showing off last month as a teaser of what might be inside for supplies that I was going to be hooked in love!! I mean, really, plaid is the fashion right now...so, I knew it was going to be a good one.
AND, I was right! As soon as I opened the box and saw the card designs, I was all giddy. Those cards just scream wood burning stove in a log cabin relaxing in my PJ's sipping on hot coffee. Haha!
For my alternate project, I went big and bold. I cut three crumb cake cardbases in half at the 5-1/2" score line and used each half to create a "MERRY" banner. The Large Alphabet Framelits and Layering Circles Framelits are always my go-to dies for banners.
The kit included a woodgrained sticker that had a pre-cut circle...none of it went to waste. The circle was used as a direct layer for a couple of the letters; and the negative worked well as a matte presenting variety among the banner pieces,
There is some fine gold stripes mixed in the plain designer papers, so I brought in some Gold Foil paper as an accent to give the banner a richer country appeal. The banner pieces are threaded together using 3/8" Crumb Cake Classic Weave Ribbon. I thought about taking the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon and separating the strands so they were loose and then thread through, but I really like the softness the Classic Weave Ribbon adds to the overall design.
This would look gorgeous strung across a fireplace mantel...but, if you don't have one, hanging on a wall or across the front of a bookcase would be festive, as well. I hope you liked my project...it is super cool in real life...darned pictures just never do an amazing project true justice.
