For The Love of Felt — Stamp & Scrapbook The Longest Day for Alzheimer's fundraiser

What is "The Longest Day"? It is the day with the most light — the summer solstice, which is June 21st. This is a time when thousands of participants from across the world — including my team of papercrafters — fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity, and in our case, stamping cards and creating scrapbook pages. Together, we use our creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
This will be my 4th year participating in The Longest Day to show my love for all those affected by Alzheimer's disease. This weekend (June 22-23), I am joining others around the world doing what I love, to honor people living with Alzheimer's, their caregivers, and those lost to the disease, while raising funds and awareness to advance the care, support research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. I am doing this in honor of my dear friends' Mothers; and in memory of Jerry Johnson, a dear Colleague who lost his battle to this disease in 2015.
Each participant receives a goodie bag with a personalized name tag. Last year, I was obsessed with the butterfly from the Springtime Impressions die set. I continue to crave using the Stitched Shapes dies on almost every project...in all sorts of colors! LOL!
Do you recognize the stamp set and tool I used to create this beautiful bouquet? Yessss! It is the Daisy Delight stamp set and regular Daisy punch. I'm mixing up this year's center piece, so stay tuned for it's reveal in a later post. Sooo excited!
There's always a lot more fun at any event when you provide supplies for a Make-n-Take card project. My die cutting machine got quite the workout prepping...so did my right arm! Haha! I'm very happy the Stitched Labels and Layering Ovals dies were carried over into the new Annual catalog.
I have been fortunate to be awarded a nice donation of baked goods each year from Sam's Club. When we sit down to papercraft for long periods of time, we need an adrenaline boost loaded with sugar! Can you tell, I'm a papercrafter? I even had to put my spin on a 'card layout' for the Bakery staff to decorate this yummy cookie. They did awesome, don't you think?!!
HOW CAN YOU HELP US END ALZHEIMER'S?
During the 2-day crafting retreat, participants have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and slip them into the bucket representing the prize(s) they hope to win! Prizes range from various Stampin' Up! product bundles, Roskag cart, and the biggest prize is a weekend retreat for a group of friends! 100% of the proceeds from raffle ticket sales go directly to the Alzheimer's Association. Our team goal is to raise $1,000.
I want to do more to help End Alzheimer's! The new For The Love of Felt stamp set and Project Kit really speaks to me this year...maybe, it's because it is a phrase that I'm familiar with growing up as a kid..."for the love of..." and then we'd finish "why are there so many bugs"? or whatever the inquisitive situation was at the time. Currently, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, and 16 million are serving as their caregivers. Sooo, "For The Love of Felt", why are sooo many people diagnosed with Alzheimer's? What is happening to our brains?
