OSAT Blog Hop — End of Summer Bloom & Grow

Hello-hello stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to the One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop.  My name is Lori Mueller (stampindreams.com) and I'm super excited to have you visiting me today.  This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from the previous OSAT designer. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the next person in line within the list of blogger's posted at the end.  We've got some amazing projects to share with you!

I can't believe that August has arrived, which means that Summer is getting closer to ending...county fairs have started and families are shuffling around to get school shopping done.  This all fits with our theme this month...End of Summer.

I haven't been very good about using any of the background stamps that I've got among my collection, so I thought I would crack open a case and show it off as my background 'designer paper'.  This Crackle Paint Background stamp was inked with Old Olive and stamped onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock.  They call this stamping technique 'tone-on-tone' stamping.  Granted it hasn't reached the triple-digits in temps where I live, but the crackle easily resembles a drought season where the grounds are thirsty.  To add a little softness to the card, I trimmed off the two edges using the Be Mine Stitched scallop die.

The Bloom & Grow stamp set is a another new stamp set that I've pulled out to use and failed.  Not this time! HA!  The floral image was inked with Sahara Sand, stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the coordinating die found with the Budding Blooms dies set.  I love the images in this set because they render all different kinds of coloring mediums.  I chose to use my Aqua Painter to add ink color, but you could easily use Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Blends, or Blender Pens. The photo doesn't reflect the little bit of sparkle of Wink of Stella added the center flower. In real life, it is really pretty.

Bloom & Grow Candy Bulb

These plastic light bulbs are super cute and fun to fill with all sorts of candies.  Shake some jelly beans and you have quite the rattle.  The tag was created using one of the heart dies from the Be Mine Stitched dies.  Stamped the floral image using Sahara Sand ink and topped with the sentiment that is trimmed out using the negative from the Old Olive card panel.  Before stamping the Old Olive inked sentiment, I took my Aqua Painter and 'washed' a light layer of Sahara Sand ink across the Whisper White strip.  The key to making the ink lighter is to squeeze water from the Aqua Painter to the ink pool in the ink pad lid.  My theory is knowing that I can always add ink, but I can't take it away. :)
