OSAT Blog Hop — Celebrate Ornate Style

Good morning stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to the April One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop.  My name is Lori Mueller (stampindreams.com) and I'm excited you've stopped by.  This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from the previous OSAT designer. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful project(s), click on the next person in line within the list of blogger's posted at the end.  We've got some amazing projects to share with you!

This month's theme is "Celebrate" any milestone, whether it be anniversary, birthday, retirement, etc.  Ever since the early released Ornate Garden Suite of products came out (April 1st), I've been stamping up a storm using the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  Well, today, I decided it was time to give some love to the other bundle of products in this suite called Ornate Style.  Oh, boy!  The large floral bouquet is perfect for this Congratulations (on your retirement) card I created for one of my husband's customers.

I started out with a Gorgeous Grape card base because it looks so darned elegant with the lovely Gold Foil/Old Olive pattern found in the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer paper pack.  The scalloped edging was done with one of the Ornate Layers Dies–LOVE!

With Spring in the air, I thought it would be fun to do a little bit of a technique that I haven't done in a while — Emboss Resist Watercoloring.  I inked up the large floral bouquet with VersaMark and stamped onto the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, pour Clear Embossing Powder over inked area and set with the Heat ToolTIP:  Use the lower setting to avoid overheating the embossing powder.  The watercolor paper will quickly soak in the embossing powder and not leave the intended raised texture. Once cooled, use the Stampin' Spritzer to shed a heavy mist of water over the embossed area leaving little puddles within the image areas.  To add color, pick up ink from your ink pad lid with the Aqua Painter and lightly touch the pools of water you wish to add color.  When you touch the water with ink, you'll see it quickly spread within the boundaries of the heat embossed area.  Make sure to let the whole image dry naturally...do not use the heat tool to process a quick dry.

Add your floral bouquet to a layer of Grapefruit Grove, wrap some Ornate Garden Old Olive ribbon around and tie into a knot.  The sentiment comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and was die cut using the stitched rectangle found in the Ornate Layers Dies set.  What a gorgeous, Victorian bouquet — one that renders lots of coloring options, but there's something  to be said about watercoloring.  I hope you'll give it a try.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next OSAT designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, cute and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!
