Retiring Snailed It — Hello Alcohol and Reinker Background Technique

As I was looking through the January-June 2021 Mini catalog to see which sets and/or bundles I was going to miss A LOT, I stopped flipping the pages when I came across the Snailed It Suite on pages 54-55. I think those snails are just so darned cute! I've made quite a few projects using the stamp images, but the Snail Dies make creating a card super quick and easy to cut coordinating images from the Snail Mail Designer Series Paper, too.
There's a new inking technique that I wanted to try using Rubbing Alcohol and Stampin' Up! Reinkers. The result is really cool and guarantees that you'll never get the same result twice...making your handmade card even more unique!
I tried several different methods and means to create a 'smooshed' background look. The Vellum cardstock produced a nice subtle smoosh look, but you have to work fast because the rubbing alcohol made the Vellum curl up. I may have squirted a bit too much, too. The Window Sheets produced more of a wet mash of ink...the colors blended a bit too much for me. My favorite was the shimmery Pearlescent Specialty Paper. It was a nice surprise to see the shimmer from the specialty paper transfer over to the Basic White cardstock layer.
If I had used less squirts of rubbing alcohol on the Vellum, I'm certain I could leave to dry and use on another card. The nice thing about the Window Sheet is that you can wash/rinse it and reuse for mass production.
Buuut, the Pearlescent Specialty Paper won my vote as I was able to use it on another card as soon as it dried. **squeal** I demonstrated this card and how to create the fun alcohol and reinker background during my Sunday Stampin' Dreams online card class. You can catch the replay here
