I've been in high-speed Halloween cardmaking mode since the new Holiday catalog went live, so I'm extremely happy that I get to switch gears a bit. Well, there's only a slight difference when it comes to using pumpkins...scary or cute pumpkins to patterned or subtle, home natured pumpkins...both used for decorations, but the mood does have a distinct difference.
I received the Harvest Hellos stamp set as a Prize Patrol gift during the Stampin' Up! incentive trip to the Greek Isles back in July, and can you believe that this is the first time I've cracked open the case?!! There is a really cute punch that coordinates with the images in the set, too, but I keep forgetting to add it to my demo order! What the heck is wrong with me? GEESH! Note to self: ORDER the Apple Builder Punch! It's part of a bundle, so plan to save 10% with the purchase. Sooo, as you see it, I cut out my pumpkin the old-fashioned way...fussy cut using my Paper Snips. It's not a hard image to cut out, but having a coordinating punch sure does make my crafting sessions go so much faster. :)
When I think of Fall/Autumn, I think of dried leaves that have changed colors from various shades of green to shades of brown, yellows, reds, orange and copper. So, I started by inking the pumpkin image with VersaMark and stamping onto Terracotta Tile cardstock. Then covered it with Copper Embossing Powder and setting with the Heat Tool.
I'm still having lots of fun playing with the Pigment Sprinkles Watercolor Crystals and thought a background of Mango Melody would throw a little contrast behind the pumpkin setting it up to be the focal point. I used regular Whisper White cardstock, gave it a slight water bath using the Aqua Painter before lightly sprinkling some of the Mango Melody Pigment Sprinkles over the damp area. Because the Sprinkles are stored in a "salt shaker" style container (which I absolutely LOVE), there isn't full control as to where the Crystals 'sprinkle' themselves to on the cardstock. To set the strayed sprinkles, I spritzed them with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water, then used the Aqua Painter to 'wash' the colorful background. You'll want to let sit to dry, or you can use the Heat Tool on low to help speed up the drying process.
In this picture, you can definitely see the Copper Embossed image in all its shine and glory. Sooo pretty! The Copper Trim was pulled/stretched and added behind the pumpkin for balance and separation from the Pigment Sprinkles. The sentiment was inked with Mint Macaron and stamped onto a strip of Soft Sea Foam cardstock to match the cardbase.
