A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop — All The Best Alternate Treat Box Idea

APPT Hop Header-Image

Hello stamping friends!  Welcome to my creative share with the A Paper Pumpkin Thing (APPT) blog hop group!  Our creative crew is a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are collaborating to create alternate projects using the supplies (plus, additional supplies) that come with our monthly Paper Pumpkin kits.  Each month, my Paper Pumpkin subscribers and members of my Stampin' Up! family (Lori's Dream Team) receive exclusive tutorials to beautiful alternate projects.  The creative fun should never stop with just the designs that come in each box! *wink-wink*

ALL THE BEST

All The Best Header image
This month's blog hop is playing with the All The Best (December 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make nine stunning cards, three each of three designs and coordinating envelopes.  It comes with an acetate box where you can store your finished cards! You can gift the kit itself or the finished product in the acetate box; either way, it's the perfect last minute gift for any occasion.

But, you know I like to create 'outside the box', so that's what I navigated towards to come up with a super cute treat box that'll be perfect for gifting for any occasion.  Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I brought in some additional supplies and tools from my own stash to create my fun project.

To start, I chose to go with a Balmy Blue base that measures 4-3/8 x 5-5/8 and scored at 2-7/8 and 3-1/2 along the 5-5/8" stretch.  The floral card base was cut down the center at 4-1/4, then cut down one of the halves to measure 4-1/4 x 2-3/4.  Score at 5/8".  In order to get a nice even Balmy Blue matte to the floral piece, I had to trim along the 'green grass' edge about 1/16"...just a sliver.  This will ensure that the scored sections line up evenly without any gaps when you glue them together.

APPT Hop-All The Best Acetate Box Cut-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07469

The Acetate box was cut in half at 4".  You'll probably need a couple passes with the trimmer to cut through the double layers of acetate.  Assemble one of the halves to form a box, but without a lid.  The fun thing is that cutting the Acetate box in half allows you to make two treat boxes to match with the 2 halves of the floral card base.  Pure genius, right?!!

APPT Hop-All The Best Acetate Box Open-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07481

Insert the Balmy Blue base into the Acetate box.  NOTE:  I added a tiny piece of Tear & Tape to each corner of the Balmy Blue cardstock piece so that it stayed in place without slipping out.  Wrap some of the Balmy Blue & White Variegated Ribbon around the box to hold the flap down.  The sentiment was inked with Pebbled Path and stamped onto a Stylish Shape Stitched Circle cut from Basic White, then Clear Embossed it.  I popped it up onto a Gold Foil Scalloped Layer Circle die with a Crushed Curry Stylish Shape Banner Die cut accent.  The kit included a package of beautiful Balmy Blue rhinestones that I sprinkled across the front flap.  Fill with candies, dog/cat treats, trinkets, etc

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next A Paper Pumpkin Thing designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, beautiful and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss any of the wonderful inspiration!

This month's blog hop is playing with the Home For The Holidays (October 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make eight Holiday greeting cards that are gorgeous to spread love, warmth & cheer.  The cards come with coordinating envelopes, too!  Once the supplies are used up to create those projects, I like to focus on creating a fun alternative card using the kits stamp set, plus, additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-Home For The Holidays-Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07305
As soon as I saw the envelopes in this kit, I knew that I wanted to use the decorated flap to create a card that would be used as a pocket note card or tucked with a gift card.  The card base is Balmy Blue and measures 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 1-3/4 and 5-1/2 along the 8-1/2 stretch.

APPT Hop-Home For The Holidays-FlatOpen-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07318

The 1-1/4 section is the part that will hold the note/gift card, but before I adhered the sides with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, I added a small strip of Real Red cardstock to trim the edge.  This also makes it more visible that it's a pocket.  Then, I took a 1-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Balmy Blue and embossed it with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the front of the pocket section.  For the notecard, ink the sentiment with Real Red and stamp onto a Basic White cardstock piece that measures 4-1/4 x 2-3/4.

APPT Hop-Home For The Holidays-Stand Open-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07316

I cut the flap of the envelope off and trimmed the top section with the Real Red Scalloped Contours Die cut.  It was adhered to the front flap of the cardbase making sure to get the piece centered and the curved part as close the Balmy Blue flap edge as possible.  Then trim off the Balmy Blue cardstock excess to form the shape of the original envelope flap.  Heat emboss the sentiment with White embossing powder onto Real Red and add to card flap with Dimensionals.

APPT Hop-Home For The Holidays-Closeup-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07312

From the stamp set with the kit, ink up the house and large evergreen tree with Memento Black and stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Use Stampin' Blends to color.  Hand cut (aka Fussy cut) the images and set into place with Dimensionals making sure to only add the dimensionals to the bottom half of each image.  These images will serve as a holder for the flap to tuck behind.  For the bling, I added the included Glitter Stickles to the rooftop of the house; and a steady stream along the envelope flap that borders the Scallop edged.  NOTE:  after adding the Glitter Stickles, set aside for a good amount of time as it takes a while to dry, depending on how heavy the stream was applied.

WITH LOVE & GRATITUDE

With Love & Gratitude September 2023 Paper Pumpkin

This month's blog hop is working with the With Love & Gratitude (September 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make eight mini cards and eight little gift bags.  The cards come with adorable little coordinating envelopes, too!  Once the supplies are used up to create those projects, I like to focus on creating a fun alternative card using the kits stamp set, plus, additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-With Love Gratitude-Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07236
The color combination is magnificent this month!  I incorporated every single color into my card—Copper Clay, Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Pebbled Path, and anything Gold.  I started with a Crumb Cake card base (5-1/2 x 8-1/2)—perfect color to show off the rest of the colors featured in the kit.

APPT Hop-With Love Gratitude-Flat LT-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07232
I took another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 5-1/8 x 3-7/8 and embossed it with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder.  This one is a new one found in the September-December 2023 Mini catalog.  So pretty!  I matted that layer with Pebbled Path cardstock that measures 1/8" larger than the embossed layer (5-1/4 x 4).  That was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

APPT Hop-With Love Gratitude-RT-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07238
Here's where the Gold comes in.  I heat embossed the large floral image with Gold embossing powder onto Lost Lagoon, Copper Clay and Mossy Meadow.  Each one was die cut with the Tailor Made Tags Die and accented with some Gold 3/8" Satin Edged Ribbon tied at the top of the die.  I planted each one onto the card using Stampin' Dimensionals in a kitty-wompass arrangement.  The sentiment was inked with Pebbled Path onto Very Vanilla cardstock and added to the card with dimensionals.  So quick, easy, and elegant!

This month's blog hop is working with the Fun In The Sun (August 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make nine fun-fold side step fun fold cards with coordinating envelopes!  Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I will focus on creating a fun alternative card using extra supplies within the kit and additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-Fun In The Sun Chair-Rt-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07145
This kit included some fun beach-y type envelopes that I converted one of them into using as designer series paper.  The Azure Afternoon was the color for the inside of the envelope and the flap had the colorful stripes.  To prepare for the layers, I gave a slight trim to each side of the envelope using my Trimmer.  This makes it easy to then cut the pieces to size for my project.

APPT Hop-Fun In The Sun Chair-Flat-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07149
I wanted to replicate a beach front look, so I embossed the Azure Afternoon layer with the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folder (using the Splatters folder).  The section of the Azure Afternoon envelope had a natural curve to it, so I traced it onto the piece of Crumb Cake (4 x 1-1/2) and hand cut it to match before embossing it with the Stripes folder from the Stripes & Splatters embossing folder pack.  I adhered the Crumb Cake piece flush with the bottom part of the Azure Afternoon layer and then matted it onto a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock (4-3/8 x 4).  I wrapped Linen Thread around the 'seam' of the Crumb Cake layer and finished with a bow before planting onto the cardbase with Stampin' Dimensionals.

APPT Hop-Fun In The Sun Chair-Left-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07143
The envelope flap (colorful stripes) didn't measure 5-1/2 across, so I cut from both ends at 1" so that the curve of the envelope looked like it lined up as one piece as the background layer.  The cloud was die cut from Basic White using a die from the Give It A Whirl Dies.  The sun was inked with Daffodil Delight and hand cut and popped up with a dimensional.  For more dimension, the chair was popped up, too.  There were extra banners with this kit, so I chose one of the sentiments that wasn't featured on the original cards in the kit.  To finish, I sprinked some of the cute little sand crystal self adhesive gems across the card.  Such a fun card that was quick and easy to put together!

EXPLORING IN COLOR

2023_05_PP Cover

2023_05_EXPLINCOLOR_Components_With_Text

2023_05_EXPLINCOLOR_Stamp

This month's blog hop is working with the Exploring In Color (May 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make nine masculine/adventurous cards that bring the colors and images of the great outdoors to your crafting. It features cards in our brand-new 2023–2025 In Colors.  Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I can now focus on creating this fantastic birthday card using extra supplies within the kit and additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-Exploring In Color Man Birthday-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07032For me, it's not always easy to create a masculine card, but I'm pretty impressed that I used only the supplies that came in the kit with exception of two cardstock colors (Copper Clay and Pebbled Path) and Basic White cardstock.  I can always come up with a card design, but to avoid adding too much bling is a real problem for me.

APPT Hop-Exploring In Color Man Birthday-Side-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07036I took one of the original card bases and cut them in half.  These bases have the adventurous landscape scenery printed across the whole 4-1/4 x 8-1/2 piece, so it's easy to make multiple cards from one base.  From there, I cut off 3/4" from each side of the chosen half; and, then shorted to 5" to adhere to the Pebbled Path cardstock matte layer that measures 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  The new card base is a single piece measuring at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2...no scoring or folds...just a single layer.

APPT Hop-Exploring In Color Man Birthday-Open-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC07035
The center piece measures 5-3/8" x 2-3/8", scored at 3/8" at the top.  This is so I can hide that little bit with a piece of Basic White cardstock at the same size to adhere between the two strips.  Performing a bit of masking with the sentiment, it was inked with Copper Clay and stamped onto an extra label piece that came with the kit.  The mug image was stamped with Copper Clay, hand cut and popped up with dimensionals.  Added a bit of Linen Thread and planted to the center piece with more dimensionals.  Super easy and looks amazing!

This month's blog hop is working with the All The Little Things (April 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make nine lovely cards with elegant cherry blossom designs, bright colors, and iridescent foil.  Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I can now focus on creating a lovely card using extra supplies within the kit and additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-All The Little Things-Sympathy Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06991
The only source of designer patterned paper to use for my card came from the beautiful envelopes.  There were two different patterns...one from the envelope flap and the other from the main part of the envelope.  I cut to size and trimmed the bigger piece with a strip of Shaded Spruce cardstock and adhered it all to the Basic White Thick card base.

APPT Hop-All The Little Things-Sympathy Lt-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06996
One of the original card designs had set of flowers that were stacked on each other to give some dimension, so I stole it to use as my focal image.  I popped it up on a Countryside Corners Die cut that was embossed with the Raindrops Embossing Folder.  Then adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

APPT Hop-All The Little Things-Sympathy FlatClose-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06999
The sentiment was inked with Shaded Spruce and stamped onto the smallest die from the Countryside Corners Die set.  I added a bit of the Calpso Coral bakers twine that came with the kit to the back of the sentiment layer, then added to the card front with Dimensionals.

APPT Hop-All The Little Things-Sympathy Flat-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06997

I sprinkled several of the self-adhesive jewels that were leftover in the kit for a bit of bling!

This month's blog hop is working with the Key To My Heart (January 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make nine darling love-themed cards.  Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I can now focus on creating a lovely card using extra supplies within the kit and additional supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-Key To My Heart Valentine Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06482

This kit didn't have a lot of extra pieces, so I focused on the stamp set to create a new card.  I stayed with the main color theme—Fresh Freesia—as my cardbase which measures 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2", folded and burnished with a bone folder.  I cut up one of the envelopes because the inside was this pretty Fresh Freesia pattern and works great as a layer for the Petal Pink Scalloped Contours Die cut.  Before adhering the layers to the card front, I inked up the hearts image with Fresh Freesia and stamped a couple of times in 2 of the corners.

APPT Hop-Key To My Heart Valentine Lt-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06486

One of the original card designs from the kit left behind this Petal Pink key hole punch out.  The image was inked with Fresh Freesia and Clear Embossed for added glam.  I layered a Scallop Circle die cut from Gold Foil to the key hole piece and set onto the card front with dimensionals.

APPT Hop-Key To My Heart Valentine Close-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06491

The heart-shaped lock was inked with Calypso Coral on the bottom and Versa Mark on the upper lock area and heat embossed with Gold on that portion of the image.  The key image was also inked with Versa Mark and heat embossed with Gold powder.  Both images were hand cut (aka fussy cut) and attached to the key hole piece using some of the Calypso Coral baker's twine from the kit.  The sentiment was inked with Fresh Freesia and stamped onto a strip of Basic White cardstock and adhered to the key hole piece.

Simply adorable and ready to send off to my favorite Valentine!  At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next A Paper Pumpkin Thing designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, cute and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss any of the wonderful inspiration!

This month's blog hop is working with the Good Things Come In Small Packages (December 2022) Paper Pumpkin kit.  It contains the supplies to make sixteen colorful and exciting gift card holder boxes.  Buuut, I chose to create a super cute card using supplies within the kit and extra supplies and tools from my own stash.

APPT Hop-Good Things Congrats Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-IMG_5901
This kit has a schlew of colors mixed in the design, so I chose a Basic Gray cardbase which measures 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; scored at 4-1/4", folded and burnished with a bone folder. The next couple layers are Vellum cardstock that was dry embossed with the Into The Clouds Embossing folder.  Not only do you get texture, but embossing Vellum is simply cool!  This piece was attached to the largest Scalloped Contours Die cut from Smoky Slate cardstock.

APPT Hop-Good Things Congrats Left-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-IMG_5900-IMG_5900
The original gift card boxes calls for belly bands made from the variety of patterned strips.  I chose to use a Stitched Rectangle die to cut one from each of the patterns, then matte with coordinating colored cardstock (Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Balmy Blue and Garden Green).  These matted pieces were added to the Vellum layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Before I adhered the Balmy Blue layer, I wrapped some of the Basic Gray Baker's Twine (included in the kit) around the whole collection of layers and tied into a bow.  Then add the Balmy Blue matted layer to finish the colorful front.

APPT Hop-Good Things Congrats Close-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-IMG_5905
Adhere the Scalloped Contours, et all, to the card front using Liquid glue.  There are several extra Circles with the kit and will git several of the stamp images Vellum.  The sentiment was inked with Basic Gray and added to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The smaller sentiment was inked with Calypso Coral, stamped onto Basic White cardstock and hand cut with Snips to add a little variance from the focal point.

Super cute, right?!!

This month's blog hop floats along with Spooky Treats (September 2022) Paper Pumpkin kit.  Get ready to make this the most fang-tastic Halloween ever! It has all the ghostly accessories necessary to Trick—or—Treat.  Teehehe

APPT Hop-Spooky Treats Open Panel Card Front-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06240

I went with Basic Black as my cardbase which measures 5-1/2" x 5-3/4" and then scored at 1-1/2" along the 5-1/2" side.  You'll need another strip that measures 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" for the bottom section to create the Open Panel.

APPT Hop-Spooky Treats Open Panel RT-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06243

The designer paper is actually one of the sleeves that was cut down and matted with Pumpkin Pie before adhering to the cardbase and extra Basic Black strip.  The inside panel is Fresh Freesia...thought it was less dramatic than using Basic White.

APPT Hop-Spooky Treats Open Panel Card Close-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06250

Die cut a piece of Orchid Oasis using the largest square from the Stylish  Shapes dies.  Use that as a matte layer to the 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" Basic Black square.  Position the extra matted Basic Black strip on the bottom section of the card base.  The ghost image is absolutely adorable when heat embossed with White powder onto Vellum cardstock.  After hand cutting them out, I added ink to the back using a Water Painter.  I used the color palette used in the kit:  Crushed Curry, Orchid Oasis, Pumpkin Pie and Fresh Freesia.  They were added to the stitched square with Mini Dimensionals that were cut in half and strategically added to the eyes and mouth of the ghost.  This was to ensure the dimensionals were not seen through the Vellum.

APPT Hop-Spooky Treats Open Panel Card Open-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06248

Add adhesive to the top and bottom 1/4" section of the stitched square and add it to the front top flap and the bottom strip.  This builds a 'bridge' between the two sections and creates the Open Panel. The bats image was inked with Memento Black onto the inside panel.  Super cute, right?!!  At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next A Paper Pumpkin Thing designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, cute and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

This month's blog hop sets sail across the ocean with the Sending Good Thoughts (July 2022) Paper Pumpkin kit.  With beautifully designed nautical imagery, a fun message in a bottle motif, and sentiments that are “shore” to please, this month’s kit is full of warmth and fun.

APPT Hop-Sending Good Thoughts Card RT-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06136

I chose Pacific Point as my cardbase and background layer that was die cut with the Dots & Spots Die.  The main focal panel is a fun reflection of a ship at sea.  I thought the Silver & Gold Designer Series paper was a nice subtle pattern that is adhered to a piece of Vellum cardstock.  Wrap the Linen Thread around that Vellum/Silver & Gold DSP twice and finish with a bow.  Then add it to the cardfront using Dimensionals.

APPT Hop-Sending Good Thoughts Card Flat Bow-Stampin Dreams Lori Mueller-DSC06143

The ship was inked with Basic Gray and heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder onto a Layering Diorama die cut.  Then add it to the card with Dimensionals.  The sentiment was inked with Bermuda Bay, as well as, the scroll image.  I hand cut out the scroll and added to the Layering Diorama with Liquid Glue.
