Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Spooky Fun!!

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello-hello crafty stampers!  Welcome to my stop on the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of September! It is super 'spooky' that we have traveled this far into the year within a blink of an eye!  Which leads me to this months theme....Spooky Fun!!  Are you ready for this popular holiday to arrive?  Have you and the little ones picked out your costumes?  Me, not so much.  I am not much for dressing up, but I sure did enjoy making my daughters' costumes when they were little.  Now that they are all grown up and coming up with their own costumes, all I have to look forward to is the challenge of having more trick-or-treaters stop by our house than my mother-in-law who lives a mile away.  haha!! This year's Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog is filled with some really good Halloween fun!  I haven't gotten it all, but I'm pretty darned close!  haha!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my Spooky Fun (and super CUTE) Halloween Scares creation.  I am showing off the fun Double Z-fold Technique, which was inspired by a card I received within a card swap group.  I love how this fun-fold technique leaves the possibility of crafting your layout for any given holiday or special occasion.  The ideas are endless....I can envision this to be a really cute baby announcement or baby shower card!  squeal

CreativeInkingHop-HalloweenScares-Lori-DSC01508

The new Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog has a whole suite of really CUTE Halloween products...pages 51-54. I decided to focus on the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper....LUV the paper!!  Follow me through the creative path of my card share....

Creative Tips:

  • The card base is Paper Pumpkin measuring 4-1/4" x 11", scored in two places...2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  First fold the card base in half at the 5-1/2" mark.  Then, fold the front of the card base back towards the first fold line at the 2-3/4" score mark.  This will create your first Z-Fold.
  • Using Snail, Fast Fuse or Multipurpose Liquid glue, attach the Whisper White cardstock piece to the back portion of the cardbase.  NOTE:  it is important that you attach this piece before the rest of the layout.
  • Adhere the Halloween Nights Designers Paper (striped pattern) to the Basic Black cardstock layer.  Then, adhere that panel to the front section of the Z-fold part of the cardbase.  Position the Pumpkin Pie Circle cut from the Layering Circles Framelits (approximate size is 2-3/4") to the front of the Z-fold section.
  • Using Stampin' Up!'s Simply Scored tool, score the Basic Black strip at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  Add some of the Pumpkin Pie Halloween Baker's Twine (tied in a bow) to the 5-1/2" portion of the strip. Fold at both score lines and place on the card based so that they are opposite the cardbase folds.  See picture for a visual.  This also illustrates the importance of adhering the Whisper White layer earlier.  Can you see the two "Z"'s?

 CreativeInkingHop-HalloweenScares-Lori-DSC01521

  • Using the Layering Circles Framelits Die set, die cut a Basic Black layer with one of the scalloped framelits and another circle framelit to die cut one of the Spooky Halloween houses from one of the designs in the Halloween Nights Designer Series Paper pack.  Adhere these two layers together and add Stampin' Dimensionals before centering over the Pumpkin Pie Circle.
  • Ink up the sentiment using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  Die cut the sentiment using the framelit from the Bunch of Banners Framelits set.  Add Stampin' Dimensionals and tuck under the Halloween house and center on the from Basic Black strip.
  • Last, but not least, die cut a witch from Basic Black cardstock using the die from the Halloween Scenes Edglits Dies set.  Add a Stampin' Dimensional to give a spooky feel.  Buwhaaaa!

Isn't that the coolest way to show off those scary houses?!!  I am so excited that I have finally made a Double Z-fold card because I have a wonderful idea for a baby card that is looonnnng overdue.  Oh, I'm talking about my card, not the baby.  LOL!!  I hope you will give this fancy fold technique a try...then, share it with me! I love to receive inspiration. There's more Spooky Fun coming your way...next on the hop is Dena Rekow's blog.  I know she will have a wonderful Spooky Fun creation to share with you.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Peeking Into The Holidays

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello-hello crafty stampers!  Welcome to my stop on the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of August! I am really excited to have you here because we are sharing sneak peeks of brand new products that are going to be available to you when the new Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog goes live on September 1st!!  I. CAN'T. WAIT!! There is sooo much to love and share, but I can only fit so much of it on one card design.  haha!  So, let's cut to the chase and get right to it, shall we?!!  Oh, you might want to grab a tissue for the drool...I guarantee it, you will drool!

So, here is my Spooky AH-mayzing creation....if I do say so myself.  Super easy, too!

CreativeInkingHop-SpookyFun-Lori-DSC01438

With the season of Halloween quickly approaching, I decided to show off an awesome new Holiday catalog bundle....Spooky Fun stamp set and the coordinating Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies, along with the wonderful Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper.  So much fun!!

Creative Tips:

  • A Whisper White card base measuring 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" will definitely help show off the new Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper that is matted to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.
  • Die cut the largest Swirly Scribbles Thinlits from the new Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  Lay it on the Halloween Night Specialty paper to help position stamping the witch in the center.  The witch comes from the new Spooky Fun stamp set and was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink.  Quickly add Clear Stampin' Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Once that is done, then you can glue the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer die cut in place.  NOTE:  I didn't want to glue down the die cut because I didn't want Clear Embossing Powder to get caught up in the die cut.
  • The Spooky tree die comes from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Die set.  Set the die on a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measures 4" x 2-3/4" so that the tip of the tree is close to the top edge of the cardstock.  This is so that you leave enough room at the bottom for the scene of the landscape.

CreativeInkingHop-SpookyTreeEdgelit-Lori-DSC01433
          CreativeInkingHop-SpookyTreeEdgelitCut-Lori-DSC01435

  • Adhere the Spooky tree to the bottom of the card by only adding Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the length of the ground area (do not add glue to the tree).  By leaving the tree unattached/unglued, it adds a little more 'spookie-ness' to the scene.  Tie some of the new Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine to the trunk and finish with a bow.

CreativeInkingHop-SpookyFunSide-Lori-DSC01448

  • Ink up the Tombstones using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a scrap piece of Smokey Slate cardstock.  Die cut using the coordinating framelit in the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Die set.
  • Ink up the sentiment using Archival Basic Gray ink and stamp onto a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  Cut each word into separate pieces using Stampin' Paper Snips.
  • Set the tombstones and sentiment word blocks in place with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sooo, what do you think?  I'm not sure what part of this card is my favorite....the witch centered in the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Swirly Scribble or the Spooky tree setting.  Please let me know your thoughts...I love to read all comments left for me. Don't forget, there are still more blogs to hop on...next on the hop is Dena Rekow's blog.  I know she will have an amazing creation to share with you.  Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  If you get lost or sidetracked, please come on back and follow the list of participants shown below.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)

OSAT Blog Hop Shares October Halloween & Fall Projects

OSATBlogHop-HalloweenFall-OctHeaderGood Morning Stampers!

I am so excited to have you join me for the October series of the One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop (aka OSAT).  As much as I hate to see the days get shorter and the temperatures creep lower, the Fall season is my favorite time of the year.

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the previous person to me on the list. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button at the end of this post so that you get to enjoy the next set of inspiring projects as you travel through the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

I was originally planning to create and share a card and project focusing on the Fall season, but my plans changed a Halloween themed ensemble because of a new video released by Stampin' Up! using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  Let's take a look.

Howl-0-weenTreatPumpkin-Lori-DSCN0189

Creative Tips:

  • Sponging the edges of the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (Tangelo Twist striped pattern) with Soft Suede and one of our Stampin' Sponges is wonderful for when you want to tone down the brightness or to add a little vintage.
  • I love the little pumpkin from the Howl-o-ween Treats stamp set (inked in Tangelo Twist)...especially when Stampin' Up! creates the images to coordinate with a matching framelit from the Boo To You Framelits set.
  • The new Spider Web Doilies are very versatile and allow you to get lots of mileage with one doily.  The accent to the "Trick or Treat" sentiment is the center of one Spider Web Doily.  I liked the solidness of that part of the doily.
  • The front of the card needed another color, so I took some of the Happy Haunting Washi Tape (Rich Razzleberry) and covered a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Adding this strip really compliments the card and shows off the card base for vintage elegance.

DID YOU KNOW?  that there are 17 brand new bundles available in the Holiday Catalog?  Yep!!  These bundles save you 15%...moolah that you can spend on more products from your Wish List.  **squeal**  Bundles include Stamp sets & Punches, Stamp sets and Framelits, and more.  Download BundleAndSave-Flyer.

Howl-O-WeenTreatsInside-Lori-DSCN0307

When your card base is a dark color (like Rich Razzleberry), it is always extra special (and needed) to decorate the inside of the card with the lighter tones.  This is so you can actually see the words written to your recipient.  Hahaha!

Howl-O-WeenMiniTreatBag-Lori-DSCN0317

No Trick or Treat card is complete without the 'treat', right?!!  Stampin' Up! just came out with a little video sharing the 'how to' tutorial related to the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies.  You end up with a mini-mini treat bag!  **squeal**  Super cute and oh, so easy to do.  Here is the free video tutorial.

Thanks for taking part in our One Stamp At a Time blog hop. It is always a real 'Treat' to create fun and exciting projects to share with you.  I am very thankful that you have stopped to visit me.  There are a good number of hops to travel, which means many more ideas and inspiration to fill your creative mind...you won't want to miss a single one! Trick or Treat on Witches' Night for the Stamp It Blog Hop

September2015-TeamStampIt-Header

Hello my inky friends!  I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend. You have dropped in just in time for our September Stamp It blog hop.  If this is your first stop or you arrived from sweet Charlene Luks blog, please be sure to click the 'Next' button at the end of this post so that you get to enjoy the next set of inspiring projects as you travel through the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog. We have 12 Stamp It Artists playing along this month (**squeal**) and we have all created a card based on the theme of Halloween or Fall creations.

I have been on a Halloween kick lately...not sure that I'm ready for the Fall season to arrive.  It just reminds me that time is flying by waaaay to fast and that I didn't get to enjoy much of the Summer season.  So, the Witches' Night photopolymer stamp set is getting a little play time with my ink.  :)

WitchesNight-HalloweenWeb-Lori-DSCN0181

Creative Tips:

  • One of my favorite styles of creating is to go vintage.  The Crumb Cake cardbase really shows off the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper that is matted on Basic Black cardstock.  To add that vintage feel, I took a Stampin' Sponge and sponged a light coat of Soft Suede ink around the edges of the Designer Series Paper.
  • I struggled to narrow down my decision on which of the 12 patterns available in the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper pack to use...ended up with 3 patterns all in Tangelo Twist.  The 3 separated matted panels allows you to get a good feel for each pattern with clashing or making the card look too busy.
  • The Trick or Treat image really grasps that WOW factor in the sense that after being stamped using the new Archival Basic Black ink it produces such a clean and crisp stamped image.  The new Spider Web Doilies are sooo much fun and add a hint of spooky-ness that is nestled into between the Lots of Labels die cuts.
  • I love dimension!  I have a very difficult time creating a flat card, so it was 'necessary' to pop up the main image. haha  I couldn't leave it alone with something that simple, so I inked up the "31" in Tangelo Twist, punched with the 3/4" Circle punch and popped up over top the Basic Black stamped version.  Also, I thought it would be fun to have the "31" inked in Tangelo Twist and look like a Polka Dot to match the designer series paper set behind it. Trick or Treat?!!

DID YOU KNOW?  that if you click on any of the pictures I add to my posts that you get a more up-close-and-personal look at all of the details of my creations?  Go ahead...click on any image.  ;)

Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop--FaBOOlous Holiday Sneak Peeks

GV_Blog_Hop_Banner_04

Welcome to the Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop for August. The theme for the hop this month is Holiday Sneak Peek and we are all excited to share some projects using new products from the soon-to-be-live Holiday Catalog.

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the previous person to me on the list. Please be sure to click the person after me to move along the blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.  So, here is my 'sneak peek'!

SixSayingsHeader-GVAugHop-Lori-DSCN0174
So, what do you think?  Pretty cute (and not very spooky), right?!!  I have been having fun playing along with the MOJO Monday Card Sketch Challenges lately and I thought this layout (MOJO412) was a perfect fit to show off lots of new products I had in mind.

Mojo412The sentiment comes from a stamp set that was a Prize Patrol win during Stampin' Up!'s Annual convention in July 2015.  This set is full of sentiments to cover all the holidays from Halloween through Valentines Day.  When I saw this particular sentiment, the first thing that came to mind was the Italian version of saying "Fabulouso"! (mimicking fingers to lips and throwing a kiss to audience).  Since this Grand Vacation cruise will land us in Italy, I just had to giggle.  So, you definitely want to Host a stamping event with your girlfriends so that you can earn this set and purchase with your Hostess rewards.  SUPER cute!  But, enough of my silliness...you are probably getting antsy and want to see the WHOLE card, right?  Teehehehe

SixSayings-GVAugHop-Lori-DSCN0169
Isn't it FaBOOlous?!!  This card is chocked full of brand new products available in the new Holiday catalog that goes LIVE on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

  • Outside of the "FaBOOlous" Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (I love every single pattern!), but, the Black Glimmer Paper...OMGOSH!!  I am soooo excited that we have Black.Glimmer.Paper!
  • If you were enjoying the Thick Baker's Twine that Stampin' Up! started offering, you might like to know that you *can* thread it through the larger Designer Series buttons. YAY!! I love adding fun embellishments...they really help fill an area where you may scratch your head wondering 'this area needs something, but what?'
  • MAILING WITH EMBELLISHMENTS TIP:  If you wish to mail a card that includes an embellishment that is bulky, I would recommend 1 of 2 options:  Take it to the post office and ask for the envelope to be 'Hand Stamped", which means that you will pay a little bit more for the postage, but this ensures that your recipient will receive your handmade creation in one piece. Otherwise, it could come back to YOUR mailbox indicating it needs more postage, or by luck, your recipient will receive it and wonder what kind of fight the card had with the post office machinery.  haha
  • The other option (which is what I do many, many times) is to take a piece of small cardboard (like the cardboard that your favorite snack crackers comes in) and cut a piece that will fit over top of the embellishment inside the envelope.  That lightweight cardboard will act as a buffer and form a gradual 'hump' versus an abrupt bump in the road for the postal equipment to fight with.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop. With so many amazing and "FaBOOlous" ideas and inspiration throughout the hop, you won't want to miss a single one! Remember you are currently at (Lori Mueller's -- Stampin' Dreams blog), so please check the blog hop line up below and be sure to click the next blog participant's name on the list.

Stamp It Blog Hop -- New Holiday Catalog Sneak Peeks!!

August2015-TeamStampIt-Header

Good morning stampers & paper crafters!

YAY!!  You have arrived for another inspirational ride along our Stamp It Blog Hop.  You may have just arrived here from Siara Acdal's blog or this may be your very first stop.  If so, thank you soooo much!  I am excited you are here. Our August hops are featuring some Sneak Peek creations using products from the upcoming Holiday catalog.  Let me tell you...EVERYTHING in the new Holiday catalog is super cute and fun that I struggled what to start creating with to show you....I wanted to play with ALL of my new products.   :)

Mojo411
Have you ever needed a kick-start getting your creative juices started?  Or, you have so many ideas rolling through your head, but don't know where to start?  I have the same problem.  That's when I go searching for a "sketch", which is like a 'floor plan' for you to follow.  Just fill in the areas with stamped images, designer series paper, and embellishments, and you've got it made.  VOILA!  To tone down my long list of projects that I want to start, I recruited a little help from a MOJO Monday 411 sketch.  I am so excited to show you....let's take a PEEK!

HappyScenes-StampItBlogHop-Lori-DSCN0144

  • Along with using a "sketch" to get me started, I like to look for Color Challenges to help me narrow down my choice of colors to use.  I love ALL of Stampin' Up!'s color choices...40 regular family colors (Subtles, Regals, Brights, and Neutrals), plus, the luscious In Colors...5 newly introduced colors each year.  I chose Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and Tangerine Tango.
  • There is a new embossing folder...Woodland that gives a beautiful texture of old trees in the woods.  LOVE it!!  I decided to pair it up with a brand new stamp set called Happy Scenes.  There are multiple 'scenes', but I chose the Fall-ish image and create a non-traditional Halloween card.  To me, a traditional Halloween creation uses Black, Orange and a neutral (White or Vanilla).  The Designer Series Paper comes from the Schoolhouse paper pack in the Annual Catalog.  It was the only Series that had Tangerine Tango patterns.
  • I re-discovered a few weeks ago the beauty of some specialty cardstock papers that Stampin' Up! has offered for a very long time...Shimmery White cardstock.  OMGosh!!  It is sooo much fun to watercolor images and backgrounds.  I smooshed ink into the lids of my Pool Party and Tangerine Tango ink pads to add ink to the 'skyline' and pumpkins using my Aqua Painter.
  • NOTE:  When you want to watercolor any stamped image, you should be certain to use a Permanent ink, such as, Stampin' Up!'s Jet Black StazOn ink.  I have discovered that our new Archival Black ink (available in the new Holiday Catalog) will also resist 'bleeding' or 'smearing' with the presence of water/liquid.  I inked my main image with Early Espresso ink, so I had to watercolor my Pool Party skyline first, then, stamped the Fall tree and pumpkin image after the watercolored area dried.  Soooo pretty!
  • The last steps on my creations is all about the little touches of 'WOW'.  The Happy Scenes stamp set has a bountiful selection of sentiments, but the one I wanted was a long 'phrase', so I only inked up the words 'Happy Halloween' in Lost Lagoon and stamped onto some scraps of Shimmery White cardstock.  I hand-trimmed the words and popped them up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I get sooo much mileage with my 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon because I LOVE to cut off the stitched side and pull fibers to use as 'ribbon'.  That little bow just melts it all together to create a lovely country-style Halloween card.

  HappyScenes-StampItBlogHop-Lori-DSCN0147
Creating Halloween projects with traditional colors is fun, but I hope you will try making a non-traditional Halloween project.  The Holiday catalog goes live on September 1st...only a week and a couple days away.  **squeal!**  While the card ingredients are listed at the bottom of this post, you'll want to head on over to Liz Miller's blog to check out her amazing and cute sneak peeks.  Just click on the 'next' button and you'll be on your way.

Now for some Spooktacular eye candy displaying the FUN Motley Monsters!  I have had so much fun making cards with the Fall Fest stamp set and the coordinating Fun Fall Framelit Dies.  This card was one for my Halloween card class last month.  The z-Fold always accumulates the "WOW"  reaction when opened and displayed.

FallFestZ-FoldSide-Ghost-Lori-9334

  • The Basic Black card base is 4-1/4"x11 with scores at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2", then fold on the scores to create a 'z'
  • Decorate the front panel with some Motley Monster Designer Series Paper layered onto some Tangerine Tango.
  • The inside is filled with Sahara Sand and a small strip of another pattern from Motley Monsters.
  • I inked up the 'hatch' stamp image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Sahara Sand, stamped off onto scrap paper, then onto the Tangerine Tango layer that the Fun Fall Ghost rests on.
  • LOVE the White and Tangerine Tango Two-Tone Trim as an added embellishment.

The sentiment was inked in Versa Mark and heat embossed with Basic Black embossing powder and a heat tool onto White Vellum.  The face of the friendly ghost was done the same way.  CUTE!!

Window Framelits for Fall Fest Pumpkins

I know, I know....another pumpkin from the Fall Fest stamp set.  LOL!  but, I am really enjoying this little bundle (Fall Fest stamp set and Fun Fall framelits Bundle)....these bundles make creating so much 'fun' and speedy!  I mean, really, do you miss the days of ALL that fussy-cutting every image with scissors?  I bet you are doing more layering and adding dimensionals to pop up the images that coordinate with punches and framelits than you are without, right?!!  Don't be afraid to admit it.  LOL!  This card finishes up my 'framed' stamping class I had a few weeks ago.

  FallFestGoodGreeting-Lori-9281

Let's peek into the window and see how this was put together....

  • The card base measures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" out of Naturals Ivory cardstock....LOVE this paper!
  • Layered some yummy Color Me Autumn Designer Series paper onto Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Covered the seam of the 2 designs with a strip of Soft Suede and glued to the card base.
  • The focal image is created using some Flashback Designer Series paper and gluing it to a piece of cardboard from a favorite cracker or cereal box.  Die cut the 'window' using the Window Framelit Collection and the Squares Collection Framelits.  Popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals, inserted the center with the same size square framelit as the opening (glued to the base).  Inked the pumpkin (Fall Fest stamp set) in Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow, then stamped onto a scrap piece of Naturals Ivory...die cut using the Fun Fall Framelits and added Stampin' Dimensionals.  The leaf (Fun Fall Framelits) and sentiment layers (Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits Dies) are 'stolen' die cuts from the Mossy Meadow layer.  (See Tips below)
  • Sentiment comes from the Good Greetings stamp set (exclusive set for Hostesses), inked in Tangelo Twist, stamped onto Naturals Ivory and matted with the 'stolen' Mossy Meadow Project Life die cut.
  • The bundle of fibers is from the 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon.  I took about 12-15 of the short strands and tied them in the center and added to the window frame using Multipurpose Liquid glue.

Kind of festive, don't you think?  I was going for a country-style Halloween look versus the modern, funny/cute-sy type of card.  I think this layout renders any type of sentiment....birthday, congratulations, hello, Happy Fall or Thanksgiving, or Thinking of You to mention a few.

FallFestGoodGreeting--CenterFrame-Lori-9284

Window Frame(lits) Tip:  You want to make sure that you cover your designer series paper with any type of adhesive...Snail Adhesive, Fast Fuse, Stampin' Glue Stick, or Multipurpose Liquid Glue...because you don't want any edges of the paper pulling away after it has been die cut.  The reason I used the cardboard from a cracker box (or cereal box....anything thinner than Stampin' Up!'s Chipboard) is because I can use the framelits to die cut and still get a little bit of thickness to my project.  You see, the steel cutting blades are not as deep as the Bigz die steel blades.  I do recommend that you run it through the Big Shot a couple of times to make sure that all edges have a clean cut.

 StealingDieCuts-Lori
DEFINITION OF 'STEALING':  Did you realize that you can beg, borrow and 'steal' from a layer of cardstock that is covered with designer series paper, or another piece of cardstock?  I do this A LOT....here is my list of perks to 'stealing':

  1. Saves me from having to cut into a nice new sheet of cardstock and creating more scraps,
  2. No one will ever see these holes because they will be covered up,
  3. It's a lot of fun to cut other images and use on your next creation!

Did you notice that I stole more than what I used for my project? Yep!  I decided to punch out some Note Tags and die cut some extra leaves that will be used for some treat packages...future project and creative inspiration to share with you.

Fall Fest with Halloween Ghost & Goblins

Chrysanthemum-images4ZEWHFJ9-large
I recently heard on the radio that September 1st officially marks the first signs of Fall.  I think they are right....all of a sudden I've seen the store fronts loaded with beautiful blooming chrysanthemums in the festive Stampin' Up! colors of Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, and Rich Razzleberry.  The last couple of weeks has brought in cooler temps, low-lying fogs, and College football....the sea of Red to Memorial Stadium.  GO BIG RED!!  So, to celebrate the coming of Fall in Stampin' Up! style, last week's stamping class focused on the new Fall Fest Photopolymer stamp set with coordinating Fun Fall Framelits Dies.  I illustrated the technique of 'framing a focal point' with the use of a variety of Framelits.  Absolutely love all my framelits....don't know how I managed creating before their time!!

FallFestGoodGreeting-Ghost-Lori-9295

Super easy (no spooks allowed) card recipe....

  • Crushed Curry card base measures the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" with the fold across the top.
  • Using the Hexagon Hive Framelit, die-cut a piece of the woodgrain Designer paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper pack.  Layer the die cut onto a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock.
  • Ink up one of the goblin faces from the Fall Fest stamp set in Jet Black StazOn ink and randomly stamp in any of the open Hexagon shapes.
  • White & Tangerine Tango Two-Tone Trim was wrapped around the Hexagon/Tangering Tango layer and tied in a knot.  To allow for the thickness of the this trim, I added Stampin' Dimensionals to this layer, then matted onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock that measures 4" x 5-5/16".
  • Adhere this entire grouping to the Crushed Curry card base.
  • Die cut a Basic Black cardstock piece using the Circles Collection Framelits.  I used the 6th circle framelit from the center (or, in other words, the 4th largest circle framelit)....whichever direction you like to reference.
  • Die cut the ghost (from the Fun Fall Framelits) from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and pop up onto the Circle die using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I used the Cupcake Builder Punch to create Basic Black eyes for my ghost.  Add more dimensionals to the Circle framelit and set in place onto the Hexagon layer.
  • Banner cut the sentiment from the Good Greetings stamp set (FREE with qualifying party!) with the Bitty Banner Framelits...inked with Jet Black StazOn ink and stamped onto scraps of Tangerine Tango cardstock.  Wrap them around some toothpicks and stick through the Two-Tone Trim.

INTRICATE DIE-CUTTING TIP:  When using framelit dies that have very narrow and intricate/delicate areas, use a sheet of wax paper to improve the removal of the newly cut piece from your die.  For instance, the Hexagon Hive die has lots of very thin strips to create the 'hive' edges.  When creating your Big Shot sandwich, layer in this order (from bottom to top)....Big Shot platform with all tabs (or use the Magnetic Platform), cutting plate, cardstock or Designer Series Paper, sheet of wax paper, Hexagon Hive Die, cutting plate....then run through your Big Shot.  You will find that everything will come out of the die slicker than a whistle.  For kicks, try it without the wax paper layer to see the difference in difficulty.
