A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop — Exploring In Color Alternate Card Idea
June 02, 2023
Hello stamping friends! Welcome to my creative share with the A Paper Pumpkin Thing (APPT) blog hop group! Our creative crew is a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are collaborating to create alternate projects using the supplies (plus, additional supplies) that come with our monthly Paper Pumpkin kits. Each month, my Paper Pumpkin subscribers and members of my Stampin' Up! family (Lori's Dream Team) receive exclusive tutorials to beautiful alternate projects. The creative fun should never stop with just the designs that come in each box! *wink-wink*
EXPLORING IN COLOR

This month's blog hop is working with the Exploring In Color (May 2023) Paper Pumpkin kit. It contains the supplies to make nine masculine/adventurous cards that bring the colors and images of the great outdoors to your crafting. It features cards in our brand-new 2023–2025 In Colors. Once the supplies are used up to create those cards, I can now focus on creating this fantastic birthday card using extra supplies within the kit and additional supplies and tools from my own stash.
For me, it's not always easy to create a masculine card, but I'm pretty impressed that I used only the supplies that came in the kit with exception of two cardstock colors (Copper Clay and Pebbled Path) and Basic White cardstock. I can always come up with a card design, but to avoid adding too much bling is a real problem for me.
I took one of the original card bases and cut them in half. These bases have the adventurous landscape scenery printed across the whole 4-1/4 x 8-1/2 piece, so it's easy to make multiple cards from one base. From there, I cut off 3/4" from each side of the chosen half; and, then shorted to 5" to adhere to the Pebbled Path cardstock matte layer that measures 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". The new card base is a single piece measuring at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2...no scoring or folds...just a single layer.
The center piece measures 5-3/8" x 2-3/8", scored at 3/8" at the top. This is so I can hide that little bit with a piece of Basic White cardstock at the same size to adhere between the two strips. Performing a bit of masking with the sentiment, it was inked with Copper Clay and stamped onto an extra label piece that came with the kit. The mug image was stamped with Copper Clay, hand cut and popped up with dimensionals. Added a bit of Linen Thread and planted to the center piece with more dimensionals. Super easy and looks amazing!
At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next A Paper Pumpkin Thing designers blog. You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, beautiful and exciting to share with you.
