Stamping Techniques

In Good Taste Flag Honoring Men in Blue

Flag-BlueFallenHero

Hello my stamping friends!  Outside of papercrafting and making cards, I have dabbled in all types of crafting projects...even wood crafts.  Crafting with wood is a true labor of love and can speak volumes.  Someone I know hand crafted this wooden flag in recognition of a police officer in our city, who lost his life in the line of duty.  As soon as I saw it, I was inspired to create a handmade card.

InGoodTaste-HonorBlueFlag-Front-Lori-DSC02699

CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) the wood creation, I started with a Basic Black layer that is an 1/8" smaller than a typical A2 card (5-1/2" x 4-1/4") to set the focal design.  The wooden strips were chosen from a pattern in the In Good Taste Designer Series paper pack, making sure that I cut the strips going 'with the grain'.  The Misty Moonlight strip symbolizes and recognizes a fallen hero within our city law enforcement agency.

InGoodTaste-HonorBlueFlag-StarSequins-Lori-DSC02706

It took me a bit to figure out how I was going to replicate the 50 stars.  There are several different die sets that include stars, but they were either too big, or were going to be labor intensive with all the die cutting.  As I was flipping through the new August-December 2020 Mini catalog, I came across the Snowflake Sequins image and happened to notice there were STARS in the mix!  YAY!!  Boy, am I glad this product was a "Returning Fav" from the previous years Holiday catalog!

InGoodTaste-HonorBlueFlag-50StarsSequins-Lori-DSC02707

The Basic Black panel for the stars measures 3-1/4" x 2-1/4".  The Fine Tip Glue Pen and Take Your Pick Tool saved the day to make the process go quickly setting all 50 stars.

InGoodTaste-HonorBlueFlag-FlatBlueRibbon-Lori-DSC02710

After evenly spacing the In Good Taste designer paper and Misty Moonlight strips to the Basic Black panel, I wrapped some Misty Moonlight 1/4" Ribbon around the cardstock strip and tied into a knot.  The whole panel was adhered to a Basic Black cardbase with Stampin' Seal.

InGoodTaste-HonorBlueFlag-LT-Lori-DSC02701

The panel of stars was set in place with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I chose to leave this card without a sentiment, as I felt the whole design spoke for itself.  I will be making several of these to package and send to the family with my sincerest thoughts and prayers.  May God hold them close and bring peace to their hearts.

Want to know how this card came together?  Here's my Facebook Live demonstration I did last Sunday sharing tips and tricks for putting it all together.

Stamp It Blog Hop — Summer Patriotic Themed Tags

Hello stampers and crafty friends! I'm so happy you are here.  Welcome to our Stamp It Blog Hop in June!  You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from one of the other Stamp It members blog...either way, make sure to click the blog next in line to move along the hop and not miss a beat.

Stamp-it-summer-loving-blog-hop

This month's hop share is all about Summer and/or a Patriotic theme.  Considering the 4th of July is exactly 2 weeks from today, I thought I'd better get this idea I've been dreaming about for weeks out onto cardstock.  I'm super excited to share it with you!

StampItHop-PlayfulAlphabetUSAFlatDies-Lori-DSC02304
The 2" x 5" tag base is made up of Crumb Cake cardstock with a layer of In Good Taste designer paper patterns.  I love the idea that the pattern is a photo of a 'real' brick wall and made into designer series paper.  The scalloped design at the top was done by the Delightful Tag Topper punch.

StampItHop-PlayfulAlphabetUSATagU-Lori-DSC02317

There's a brand new product in the Annual catalog that is super fun — Foam Adhesive Sheets!  I used the Playful Alphabet Dies to cut out the individual letters from Real Red, Misty Moonlight and Whisper White cardstock, then die cut each from the Foam Adhesive Sheets.  Peel off the front and stick the corresponding letter to it.  It creates the coolest 3D embellishment.

StampItHop-PlayfulAlphabetUSATagS-Lori-DSC02316

I used the Simply Scored Tool to score an 11" x 1/2" strip of cardstock (Real Red, Misty Moonlight and Whisper White) every 1/4".  Then fan-fold at the score marks to create an accordion piece.  Adhere the ends together using Stampin' Seal+, then center them onto the tag spacing evenly vertically.

StampItHop-PlayfulAlphabetUSATagA-Lori-DSC02315

Peel off the back layer of each foam letter and adhere to a Stitch Stars Die; then adhere to the accordion pin-wheel.  Add a piece of each Misty Moonlight 1/4" Ribbon and Whisper White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding to the tag top and finish off with Linen Thread tied into a bow.

Would you like to create this super cute Patriotic Tag?  I have posted the entire supply list below and made it easy for you to click on any of the images to add to your shopping cart from my online store.  I would be so very grateful to you and your support for shopping with me.  Check out my Dreamers Loyalty Reward Program...I love what I do and very much appreciate YOU.  So, I pay it back and reward my loyal customers with a FREE shopping spree. You fill my cup!

For more Summer or Patriotic themed creations that I'm sure will be favorites for you to try, make sure you hop on over to the next Stamp It Group members blogs to see what amazing creations they have to share.  Thank you so much for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

Creative Inking Blog Hop — Featuring 2020-21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog

Hello stampers and crafty friends!  Today our amazing Creative Inking designers have created an inspiring group of projects themed as "New Annual Catalog Favorites".  You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Colleen Vassos' blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop to see all the beautiful projects.

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Ever since the new 2020-2022 In Colors were announced with the release of the New Annual Idea Book & Catalog, I have not been able to leave them alone.  They are showing up in every one of my card creations.  Eeeek!  That's a good thing, right?  Well, right now, that is my FAV-or-ite products in the new catalog.  They are scrumptious!

CreativeInkingHop-TastefulTouchesHelloRT-Lori-DSC01939
I decided it was time to play with the Tasteful Touches Bundle...versus letting it sit in the last shipment of new goodies.  ACK!  I had already played with the In Good Time Designer Series paper on another project, but it is part of the Suite tied to this stamp set and die bundle, so it was fitting to enjoy them all on one card.
TastefulTouchesBundle-154098G 2020-2022InColorEnamelDots-152480G

I've already made up my mind that the Tasteful Labels Dies are going to be a new FAV and go-to die for sentiments, background layers, focal images...you name it, it's gonna land on a lot of my projects.  Look at the pearl-i-ness of those 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.  Sooo pretty!  With 20 of each color, you can adorn a good number of projects before running out....quite economical.

CreativeInkingHop-TastefulTouchesHello-Lori-DSC01931
I'm needing to touch base with some dear friends, and the sentiment that was clear embossed with Misty Moonlight ink is the perfect way to do that.  The handwritten sentiment has a few of the letters that look like my handwriting.  Loving the personal touch that will be added to my card without writers cramps!  haha  The leaf branch was inked in Crumb Cake and Bumblebee, but each was the 3rd rendition of ink.  Meaning, I inked the image, stamped off on scrap paper two times, and stamped the 3rd time in place on the Very Vanilla layer.  I just wanted a subtle image so that it would not steal away from the focal point of the sentiment.

CreativeInkingHop-TastefulTouchesHelloFlatClose-LoriDSC01933

The 1/4" Bumblebee Gingham Trim finishes off the seam with the In Good Taste Designer paper; and, adds to the rustic feel from the woodgrain pattern.  It is lovely to work with and slips into a bow very smoothly.  Besides adding the enamel dots throughout the layout, I decided to do a little faux spritzing of Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight using the marker tip flicked from the Stampin' Write Marker cap.

Now, if you have ever thought about getting more for your money purchasing all of your favorite Stampin' Up! products, I highly recommend that you purchase the "Happy Shopper" Starter Kit and save 20% with each purchase.  There really isn't anything to lose...only lots of product to gain!  But, until you make that leap to join my Stampin' Up! family and fill your starter kit with new Annual catalog products.  If you wish to start creating my project, you'll find the ingredients listed below.  I've set it up super easy for you to click on any of the images and add to your shopping cart in my online store.  I would be so very grateful to you and your support for shopping with me.  Check out my Dreamers Loyalty Reward Program...I love what I do and very much appreciation YOU.  So, I pay it back and reward my loyal customers with a FREE shopping spree. So with one click you can be on your way to soak in some more inspiration showcasing more "New Annual Catalog Favorites" creations using supplies from any of the current catalog from the rest of the group.  Your next stop on the hop will be with our very creative, Dena Rekow.  I know her creation will be fabulous...she always shares a gorgeous creation (or two) to share with everyone. Memorial Day Thank You to America's Heros

Happy Memorial Day stampers!!

MemorialDay-ThankYouFlagDieCard-Lori-DSC01599

Today, I'm sharing a card I created in remembrance and honor of our America's heroes.  I used the retiring Thank You Die as my focal image, as it says it all on a day like today.  It's not always an easy task for me, but I was able to create a nice, clean and simple layout that would fit more of the casual stamper category.

MemorialDayThankYouFlagSponge-Lori-DSC01598

With the help of a couple of Sponge Daubers to create a simulated American flag, I sponged on some Night of Navy and Real Red ink in a swirling motion to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I die cut the Thank You from the sponged piece, plus, die cut two more Thank You's from regular Whisper White cardstock.

MemorialDayThankYouFlagDie-Close-Lori-DSC01594

I glued all three Thank You die layers to each making sure to stack them with the sponged layer on top.  This technique adds dimension and the look of white chipboard.  I die cut a couple different sizes of Stitched Stars from Vellum cardstock and set in place on a Whisper White cardstock layer that was embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder.  I'm super sad the Whisper White 5/8" Flax Ribbon is on the retirement list...I use that stuff A LOT!  My favorite part is to separate the long strands and use them to add a bit of rustic feel to my creations.

MemorialDayThankYouFlagDieFlat-Lori-DSC01593

A few Rhinestone Basic Jewels adorn the final step to bring all of the elements together on this day of remembrance.  God bless the Red, White and Blue!  Thank you to all those that risked their life for me to live life freely.  I'm sooo-so thankful; you will never be forgotten!

Click the video to see the step-by-step tutorial.  I started the card demonstration at about 7:30 minutes into the recording.  Enjoy!

Stamp It Blog Hop — Timeless Tulips for Mother's Day

Hello stampers and crafty friends! I'm so happy you are here.  Welcome to our April Stamp It Blog Hop!  You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from one of the other Stamp It members blog...either way, make sure to click the blog next in line to move along the hop and not miss a beat.

Stamp-it-mothers-day

In just a couple short weeks, we will be celebrating Mother's Day, which is our creative theme this month!  Tulips are going to be the flower of celebration this year because of it's multitude of colors available.  One day, I hope to travel to the Netherlands during the prime season of the Tulip fields.  I've seen lots and lots of beautiful pictures...so dreamy!

StampItHop-MothersDayTulips-Lori-DSC01385
The Last-Chance Products list was released earlier this week, which includes the 2018-2020 In Colors:  Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.  I wanted to create a 'field of tulips in Amersterdam', but on a much smaller scale, of course.  One of my personal crafting struggles is to create simply, using only stamps, paper and ink.  I think I achieved it — sort of — I did use a couple of punches.  The struggle is real!  The Starburst Punch also landed on the Last-Chance List...I'm going to miss this one.  Another goal is to show off all of the retiring In Colors on one card with the help  of ink, cardstock and ribbon.  WOOT!

Would you like to create this super cute Timeless Tulip Mother's Day card?  I have posted the entire supply list below and made it easy for you to click on any of the images to add to your shopping cart from my online store.  I would be so very grateful to you and your support for shopping with me.  Check out my Dreamers Loyalty Reward Program...I love what I do and very much appreciate YOU.  So, I pay it back and reward my loyal customers with a FREE shopping spree. Creative Inking Blog Hop — Sending Handmade Love with Ornate Garden Flowers

Hello stampers and crafty friends!  Today is blog hop day, April 20th, which means our amazing Creative Inking designers have created an inspiring group of projects themed as "Sending Handmade Love".  You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Colleen Vassos' blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop to see all the beautiful projects.

With the unprecedented situation occurring all around the world, we sure could use a little love when we open that mailbox door.  The Ornate Garden Suite of products has definitely proven to be a crowd pleaser and has delivered many smiles and warm hearts since it's early release this month.

CreativeInkingHop-SendingLoveOrnate-Lori-DSC01353

This particular patterned paper from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series paper has a bit of pink that resembles one of our 2018-2020 In Colors — Lovely Lipstick.  I'm sad that it will soon be leaving us (set to retire June 2nd), so I wanted to highlight it with one of the Ornate Layers Dies.

CreativeInkingHop-SendingLoveOrnateHeart-Lori-DSC01362

Sadly, I have a couple of dear friends (also members of my Lori's Dream Team) who have recently lost loved ones...not due to the current health issue, but the situation makes it really tough to mourn with family and friends.  The sentiment comes from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  It is a perfect sentiment that can stand by itself and fall into several occasions: Thank You, Sympathy, Appreciation, etc.  I decided to snip this long stream of words apart and have it compliment the daisy image from the Ornate Style stamp set that was stamped onto a heart die cut from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits.

CreativeInkingHop-SendingLoveOrnateLT-Lori-DSC01355

Everything rests upon a Vellum layer embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.  I just love how elegant this came out!  You can see all of the new Ornate Garden Suite of products HERE.

Now, if you have ever thought about getting more for your money purchasing all of your favorite Stampin' Up! products, I highly recommend that you purchase the "Happy Shopper" Starter Kit and save 20% with each purchase.  There really isn't anything to lose...only lots of product to gain!  But, until you make that leap to join my Stampin' Up! family and fill your starter kit with new January-June Mini products you'll find the ingredients listed below, and I've set it up super easy for you to click on any of the images and add to your shopping cart in my online store.  I would be so very grateful to you and your support for shopping with me.  Check out my Dreamers Loyalty Reward Program...I love what I do and very much appreciation YOU.  So, I pay it back and reward my loyal customers with a FREE shopping spree. OSATBlogHop-2018Header

This month's theme is "Celebrate" any milestone, whether it be anniversary, birthday, retirement, etc.  Ever since the early released Ornate Garden Suite of products came out (April 1st), I've been stamping up a storm using the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  Well, today, I decided it was time to give some love to the other bundle of products in this suite called Ornate Style.  Oh, boy!  The large floral bouquet is perfect for this Congratulations (on your retirement) card I created for one of my husband's customers.

OSATHop-OrnateStyleCongratsFlat-Lori-DSC01314

I started out with a Gorgeous Grape card base because it looks so darned elegant with the lovely Gold Foil/Old Olive pattern found in the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer paper pack.  The scalloped edging was done with one of the Ornate Layers Dies–LOVE!

OSATHop-OrnateStyleCongratsClose-Lori-DSC01313

With Spring in the air, I thought it would be fun to do a little bit of a technique that I haven't done in a while — Emboss Resist Watercoloring.  I inked up the large floral bouquet with VersaMark and stamped onto the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, pour Clear Embossing Powder over inked area and set with the Heat ToolTIP:  Use the lower setting to avoid overheating the embossing powder.  The watercolor paper will quickly soak in the embossing powder and not leave the intended raised texture. Once cooled, use the Stampin' Spritzer to shed a heavy mist of water over the embossed area leaving little puddles within the image areas.  To add color, pick up ink from your ink pad lid with the Aqua Painter and lightly touch the pools of water you wish to add color.  When you touch the water with ink, you'll see it quickly spread within the boundaries of the heat embossed area.  Make sure to let the whole image dry naturally...do not use the heat tool to process a quick dry.

OSATHop-OrnateStyleCongratsRT-Lori-DSC01308

Add your floral bouquet to a layer of Grapefruit Grove, wrap some Ornate Garden Old Olive ribbon around and tie into a knot.  The sentiment comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and was die cut using the stitched rectangle found in the Ornate Layers Dies set.  What a gorgeous, Victorian bouquet — one that renders lots of coloring options, but there's something  to be said about watercoloring.  I hope you'll give it a try.

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next OSAT designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun, cute and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

Stamp It Blog Hop — Best Dressed Easter Eggs

Hello stampers and crafty friends! I'm so happy you are here.  Welcome to our March Stamp It Blog Hop!  You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from one of the other Stamp It members blog...either way, make sure to click the blog next in line to move along the hop and not miss a beat.

No photo description available.

In just a couple short weeks, we will be celebrating Easter, which is our creative theme this month!  YUM!  I'm sooo looking forward to a full feast of homemade foods made from several favorite family recipes.  One favorite 'appetizer' that gets gobbled up fast are deviled eggs.  We never seem to make enough...always the first to be devoured!

StampItHop-BestDressedEasterFront-Lori-DSC01258
This card is a make up of leftover pieces on my counter.  To start, the cardbase is a non-traditional size — 3-7/8" x 11, scored at 5-1/2".  To level things out, I added a piece of Highland Heather cardstock measuring 4-1/4" x 4".  I chose to feature the Best Dressed Designer Series paper pack and focus on the subtle spring patterns found in this pack.  The papers are 6" x 6", which tend to include several patterns with smaller designs, and are not all with flowers and make-up images, which is what I was looking for to help with my make-shift Easter eggs.

StampItHop-BestDressedEasterEggs-Lori-DSC01269

After scouring our catalogs to help me to produce 'easter eggs', I pulled out my trusty Balloon Bouquet punch.  Just cut off the balloon tail, flip them upside down and VOILA—my eggs have been hatched!  **squeal**!!  The short grasses were made using a die found in the Golf Club Dies set with Granny Apple Green cardstock.  The sentiment came from the Timeless Tulips stamp set and was heat embossed with White Embossing Powder onto Gorgeous Grape cardstock.

Creative Inking Blog Hop — Springing Ahead with Flowering Foils

Hello stampers and crafty friends!  Today is blog hop day, which means our amazing Creative Inking designers have created an inspiring group of projects themed as "Spring Ahead".

Can I just start out saying that Sale-A-Bration 2020 has been extraordinary this year!  Do you agree?  One of my favorite selections to choose for free has been the beautiful selection of designer series paper packs.  The latest release, the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper, is jaw dropping gorgeous!  How can you resist adding Rose Gold foiled patterns to any project?!!  These papers were designed to keep in its natural state OR add your own color using a variety of coloring tools (Sponge Brayer, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Write Markers, Aqua Painters, or Stampin' Blends).  I can't wait to show you what fun I had teaming the Seriously The Best stamp set with the new Flowering Foils Specialty paper.

CreativeInkingHop-FloweringFoilsRt-Lori-DSC01109

I chose two of the four patterns in the pack to work with.  The 'grid' pattern is a nice neutral to tag along with the floral patterns in the rest of the designer paper patterns.  I chose one of the single large flower arrangements and added colors of Mango Melody and Pear Pizzazz using Sponge DaubersNOTE:  this is called the Emboss Resist Technique because the Rose Gold foil will resist taking on the ink.  The weight of the designer paper is suitable to hand cut the flowers...not too flimsy and not too thick to bother your hands if you deal with arthritis.

CreativeInkingHop-FloweringFloralsPasteClose-Lori-DSC01118

Before assembling the focal arrangement, I wanted to add a bit of texture with a 2nd color to help compliment the flower colors.  I've revived my passion for using Embossing Paste.  In particular, I added one drop of Pear Pizzazz Reinker to a small dollop (equivalent to 1/2 teaspoon) of Shimmery Embossing Paste and mixed together using a Palette Knife.  The Silicone Craft Mat is a wonderful tool when you want to mix up a batch of colored embossing paste.  It cleans up nicely afterwards with warm soapy water.  To make my own 'decorative mask' of the Sprig, I made a template using the Sprig Punch and Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  I set the handmade template in place and swiped the newly mixed paste over the template with the Palette Knife.  As soon as the area is filled, lift the handmade template and let dry for about 5 minutes.

CreativeInkingHop-FloweringFlorals-Lori-DSC01104

To separate the patterned paper from the rest of the white space, I added a Mango Melody scallop strip using the Stitched Be Mine dies.  I didn't want the flower image sitting all by itself, so I added a Copper Foil paper layer using the Starburst Punch and a couple of Vellum accents connected to the embossing paste layer using the Sprig Punch.  For added character, I tucked in some Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle before adding the Foil Flower with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The "thanks" sentiment is part of the Seriously The Best stamp set that I inked with Jet Black StazOn, covered with Clear Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.  I chose to hand cut the sentiment and add it to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals...it added the final touch of character teamed with the focal image.

I love how this all came together so easily!  Thank you, Stampin' Up! for the adding the Flowering Foils paper as one of our FREE selections!  You can see all of the new products HERE.

You fill my cup!

So with one click you can be on your way to soak in some more inspiration showcasing more "Spring Ahead" creations using supplies from any of the current catalogs and Sale-A-Bration catalog from the rest of the group.  Your next stop on the hop will be with our very creative, Dena Rekow.  I know her creation will be fabulous...she always shares a gorgeous creation (or two) to share with everyone. Click on the 'Next' button and you'll be at your next stop.  Have fun filling your inspiration bucket...don't forget to come back real soon.  :)
