Creative Inking Blog Hop — Holiday Gift Ideas from Santa

Hello stamper and crafter friends! Welcome-welcome...I'm so excited you're traveling the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of November! This months theme is geared around Holiday Gift Ideas and is perfect timing for the craft fair season!  I have a couple of big craft fairs that I need to get ready for, so this hop is a great reminder of just how much I have left to do.  Eeek!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Colleen Vassos' blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

I'm super excited to share with you this awesome piece of home decor that I created!  Yes, I'm patting my back because my creative "dreams" actually came out the way I envisioned.  This little gem is going to be staying in our family home as I'm already struggling with the idea of gifting it to anyone.  YIKES!!

  CreativeInkingHop-HolidayGifts-WoodBoxOriginal-Lori-DSC08992

Anyone that knows me, knows that I can always be found rummaging around the clearance aisle in any big box store searching for any items that are just aching to be repurposed from their original manufactured design.  Already, I have found some great deals and this wooden box was screaming that I take it home for today's blog hop!

CreativeInking-HolidayGiftsBox-Jolly-Lori-DSC08994

I am absolutely in love with EVERY pattern of designer paper found in the Festive Farmhouse pack.  It fits right in with my country girl childhood background.  Something about plaid seems like the perfect match to anything galvanized...buttons, clips and metallic paper...everything can be found on Page 13 in Holiday catalog.

CreativeInking-HolidayGiftsBox-JollyClose-Lori-DSC08999

The letters for "Jolly" are several layers thick...meaning I die cut the letter "J" in Basic Black 3 times and topped with the Cherry Cobbler plaid designer paper.  I love dimension and stacking multiple layers just makes the whole focal point pop off of the Festive Farmhouse pattern that was run through the Big Shot with the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.

ThankYou-ABigThankYou

Halloween Frights and Delights Homemade Designer Paper

PP-FrightsDelightsNotecardBoo-Lori-DSC07950

I was preparing for a craft fair this last weekend and had made up all of my September Paper Pumpkin Frights and Delights treat bags to hand out to shoppers stopping by my booth.  Now that those are all gone, what do you have left in your Paper Pumpkin box?  The stamp set, ink spot, and other extra pieces from the kit, right?  What do you do with those items — pack up and store them for a rainy day (although, it's been raining in my area for 4 days straight!)?  OR, do you keep playing and making new stuff?

PP-FrightsDelightsNotecard-Lori-DSC07941

Normally, my stamp sets and ink spots get put to the side while I feverishly work on my next projects, but not this time!  I wanted to show myself that there is still lots of life in these amazing images by creating my own "Designer Series Paper"!  That's right!  Have you ever noticed that there isn't any decorative patterned paper to play with?

FrightsDelights-StampSet

In true color, Basic Gray Classic ink will appear much darker than what you see on my card.  To avoid stealing the eye from the sentiment focal point, I inked up the various images, stamped off one time, then stamped onto the Whisper White layer.  I did the same with the Pumpkin Pie Jack-o-Lantern, too.  Now the spider and bat were full ink, but because they are small, it gave some contrast to the "designer paper" I was creating.

PP-FrightsDelightsNotecardFlat-Lori-DSC07948
There were, at least, half a dozen of the 'Boo!' stickers leftover from the kit, plus, lots of Black/Silver Baker's Twine to help adorn the focal image.  The Everyday Label punch made a quick background layer for the Pumpkin Pie Stitched Shapes Square.  A nice accent to show off the sticker, too.  Stinkin' cute!!

Even though the kit contained all of the supplies to create 24 adorable Halloween treat bags, I enjoyed using the leftover supplies, and a few of my own, to create my own spooktacular fun!

Stamp It Blog Hop — Fall Harvest Creates Jars of Love

August2016-TeamStampIt-Header

Hello and welcome stampers and paper crafters to our August Stamp It Bog Hop.  This month's theme is anything related to one of my favorite seasons of all...Fall!!  Can you believe that we have entered the doorway to September 1st?!!  YIKES!!  We'll hold onto your boots because we are going to have some gorgeous creations for you to enjoy.  Let's go take a gander, shall we!

If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Group Blog Hop, or, if this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me Lori Mueller, Stampin' Dreams. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

StampItHop-JarOfLoveThanks-Lori-DSC07616

I'm needing to stock up on some Thank You notes for my wonderful customers, but needed something that was easy to mass produce, yet, still has that WOW element.  It has been a really long time since I had pulled out the Jar of Love, Thankful Thoughts, and Timeless Textures stamps sets...so, nothing like the present, right?!!  Plus, I found a card on page 125 of the Annual catalog that inspired me.  If you flip to that page, do you think you could tell which card I'm referring to?  I changed up the colors (Early Espresso and Highland Heather) and tweaked a couple things, but the layout is still the same.

StampItHop-JarOfLoveThanksFlat-Lori-DSC07618

Heat embossing is always a fun technique to do, but, it is even more fun for the recipient because it hits that "WOW" factor.  I really love the Copper Embossing powder...it heats up so evenly and is absolutely gorgeous!  The little trim on the side is the negative strip to one of the Delightfully Detailed Specialty papers borders.  I thought is was kind of neat how it accentuates the banner cut Vellum Cardstock piece.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop — Blissful Blooms

Hello and welcome Stampers and Papercrafters to another fun and exciting A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!   A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the August monthly kit named "Blissful Blooms".  I really surprised myself creating alternate projects with the August kit...everything just seemed to come together super easy, and that doesn't always happen for me.  Many crafting sessions find me pondering on my creations for an undisclosed amount of time.  haha!  I had a ton of fun creating my altered kit projects and I can't wait to show them off to you...let's go take a peek!

PPHop-HeaderPic

This months kit is very elegant and is designed for all occasions...sympathy, thinking of you, congratulations, etc.  Super exciting!!

August2018-BlissfulBlooms

For my creation, I did a combination of products from the paper pumpkin kit and coordinating colors of cardstock and classic inks (Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss and Flirty Flamingo).

PPHop-BlissfulBlooms-Lori-DSC07596

This kit came with small-type tags, but I was needing a sympathy card and really wanted the sentiment to stand out and make a statement.  The Old Olive cardstock strip was run through the Big Shot using the new Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder.  I was looking for texture and something solid to help the matted focal point stand out a bit from the floral cardbase.

PPHop-BlissfulBloomsFlat-Lori-DSC07598

The Flirty Flamingo & Silver Baker's Twine was my main factor determining the large scalloped Oval die cut from Silver Foil paper.  The rest of the card front helped me bring in little bits of the other colors...Blackberry Bliss accenting the Shimmery White Oval die cut and the Old Olive and Flirty Flamingo ink colors for the sentiment.  I love how Stampin' Up! makes it sooo easy for me to coordinate the color palettes to various papers, inks, and embellishments.

PPHop-BlissfulBloomsLeft-Lori-DSC07593

So, what do you think?  I love the sentiment...and, I love the different color tones of the floral card front.  My hope is that it will bring a warm smile to my friends face who is dealing with a tragic loss of a dear loved one.

Floral Cardbase Turns into Gift Box

Now to flip to an exciting occasion, I have a few of my team members who have recently hit a couple of different milestones. I love to recognize them with little gifts of appreciation and gratitude that they have chosen me to be their team leader.

PPHop-BlissfulBloomsBox-Lori-DSC07600

Look how beautiful this little box turned out...so elegant!  The lid comes from the card base front...the box bottom was made using the back of the card base.  How cool is that?!!

PPHop-BlissfulBloomsBoxOpen-Lori-DSC07605

Little gift boxes are always a big hit with mini York Peppermint Patties!  :)  I'm really pleased with how these projects came together...super easy, elegant and FUN!

To get more inspiration for alternative ideas creating with the August Paper Pumpkin kit, make sure you visit the other A Paper Pumpkin Thing Group members' blogs to see what projects they have created to share with you.  I'll be on your heals to soak in the new ideas and inspiration.

Creative Inking Blog Hop — Sketch Challenge with Color Your Season

Hello stamper and crafter friends! Welcome to my crafty spot on the Creative Inking Blog Hop for the month of August! This months theme is geared around a pre-determined card sketch.  I am super excited to create from a sketch because that takes most of the designing lull out of my busy week. l can't wait to share my creation with you!  :)

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Sandra Motts' blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

Here is what the card sketch looks like...pretty clean and simple, right?!!  I thought so, too!

Sketch-August2018Hop

It has been a while since I have played with the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, I thought it was perfect for the help I needed.  You see, this large pack of 12" x 12" designer series paper is packed full of coordinating colors to mix-n-match...a definite helpful starting tool for the creative mind that might be in a creative rut.  So, I picked on the colors of Blackberry Bliss, So Saffron, Mint Macaron, and Shimmery White cardstocks.  Oh, so pretty!!

CreativeInkingHop-ColorYourSeasonFront-Lori-DSC07564

  • Next up was choosing what stamp set I needed for the special occasion that I had in mind.  And, look-ey there!  I couldn't pass up the Blended Seasons stamp set and coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits...especially, since this bundle is only available during the month of August.  Plus, among all of the images (12 to be exact), there is an image of a bell that can be used for any occasion...in my case, I needed it to be wedding bells.  Don't forget, you can purchase this bundle for a 10% savings.

  CreativeInkingHop-ColorYourSeasonFlat-Lori-DSC07561

  • Now, you may be asking "how did she make that skinny Blackberry Bliss border for the Shimmery White Stitched Frame layer?"  Well, I die cut two of the same size Stitched Framelits from Blackberry Bliss, cut each one in half (1 cut vertical...the 2nd cut horizontal), then adhered each half to fit and border the Shimmery White framelit layer.  I needed the matted layer to be skinnier than the next sized Stitched Framelits die, and this was the easiest way that gave me the result I was needing.  **squeal**

CreativeInkingHop-ColorYourSeasonWeddingLeft-Lori-DSC07558

Did you notice the the embossed texture of the So Saffron layer?  OMGosh!!  The amazing Subtle Dynamic Textured Embossing folder left that mark!  Isn't it perfect for this layout?  I also love dimension...especially with a wedding card.  The Stitched Framelits layer is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, as well as, the wedding bells, sentiment strip (which comes from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set), and the faux Glimmer Enamel Dot (made from a small punched circle using the Gingerbread punch and coloring with Wink of Stella).  Sooo, so pretty!  Creating wedding cards makes me so happy....after all, it is a happy occasion.  :)

OSAT Blog Hop — Creature Comforts with an Animal Outing Expedition

OSATBlogHop-2018Header

Hello-Hello stampers and paper crafters!  Welcome to my blog!  I'm so excited for you to hop along the July One Stamp At a Time (OSAT) Design Team Blog Hop!  This month's theme is "Creature Comforts".  Hmmm...so, what does that mean?  Well, I took it for the word "creature" and pulled out my Animal Outing stamp set and coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits dies.  That works, right?!!  Well, let's check it out.

This may be your first stop on the hop, or you may have hopped over here from the previous OSAT designer. Either way, in order to view all of the blog participants sharing their wonderful craftiness, click on the next person in line within the list of blogger's posted at the end.

OSATHop-AnimalOutingFront-Lori-DSC06754

I've been seeing this layout and technique a lot throughout the internet world, but I've only seen it with two raised panels, not three!!  Of course, I had to do something different and outside the box.  I took one look at those gators giving each other the googlie eyes that I couldn't help but pair them up with the "wild about you" sentiment!

OSATHop-AnimalOutingFlat-Lori-DSC06759

These adorable gators come from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper.  And, if you haven't heard, there is an awesome sale going on right now...Buy 3 packs of Designer Series Paper, Get 1 FREE!!  Guess what?!!  Animal Expedition Designer Series paper is part of this promotion!  YAY!

OSATHop-AnimalOutingFlatClose-Lori-DSC06761

Two of the colors of cardstock that coordinate with the Animal Expedition paper pack are Call Me Clover and Poppy Parade, which have been embossed with two different embossing folders...Petal Burst and Layered Leaves Dynamic Texture Impressions folder.  They were lined with the new Lemon Lime Twist 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon to add a little fun compliment.  Add Stampin' Dimensionals to these layers and set into place leaving space for the fun patterns of designer series paper.  CUTE!!

Animal Outing Pencil Sleeve

I found some pencils at the Dollar Tree that, in my opinion, really matched up well with our Lemon Lime Twist...so, I bought them!  Haha!!  I thought it would be kind of fun to create a little sleeve holder made from one of the patterned sheets of Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper to hold them.

OSATHop-AnimalExpedPencilSleeve-Lori-DSC06763

With school starting back up in our area in about 4-5 weeks, I think these would be wonderful meet-n-greet teacher gifts.  Who can resist that cute little gator and bird?  Too cute!

OSATHop-AnimalExpedPencilSleeveTag-Lori-DSC06765

At this time, you are now ready to hop on over to the next OSAT designers blog.  You won't want to miss traveling on as I know they will have something fun and exciting to share with you.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click your way through the blog list found below.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing!

I've been busy playing with as many of my soon-to-be-retired papers as I can...because I love them more and more.  I'll be sad to see the In Color Sweet Sugarplum leave our color family.  But even more sad than that is the retiring Petal Gardens Designer Series Paper stack!  *sniff*

StampItAprilHop-MothersDay-ApronOfLoveFlat-Lori-DSC06447

Just look at that soft color combination of Sweet Sugarplum, Pool Party, and even Rich Razzleberry!  Oh, if only those colors were in a warm fuzzy blanket, I'd wrap myself in it for sure!

StampItAprilHop-MothersDay-ApronOfLoveOpenFr-Lori-DSC06450

So, I held a Fancy Folds stamp class this last week and this was one of the special folds we played with.  Super cute, fun and EASY.  I used different designer papers and stamp set for class...remember, I have to make my Mom and Mother-in-Law special (one-of-a-kind) cards...they are super special like that.  *giggle*

StampItAprilHop-MothersDay-ApronOfLoveOpenBack-Lori-DSC06453

This is what the back side looks like when open.  Perfect technique for the amazing women in my life!  If you love these colors and the Petal Gardens Designer Series Paper stack, they are slotted for retirement and are only available while supplies last...shop in my online store today!

For more Mother's Day themed inspiration, make sure you hop on over to the next Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  Thank you so much for stopping by....stop back again real soon.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop — May Good Things Grow

Hello and welcome Stampers and Papercrafters!  The end of March is knocking down our doors, but not before you attend another series of A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!  A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the March monthly kit named May Good Things Grow.  This month's kit is a really special one because of March is the month that Paper Pumpkin came to life.  Shall we go take a peek at what I created for you.

PPHop-HeaderPic

This month's hop features a little bit of vintage...such as reflecting on Stampin' Up!'s upcoming 30th Anniversary celebration...many good things have grown over the years since Stampin' Up! came to life back in 1988.  :)

I die cut the largest stitched oval from the center of one of the patterned pieces and raised it to reflect an eclipse effect.

PP-MayGoodThingsGrow-Lori-DSC06384

I had to matte the patterned paper because it is too pretty not to pair it up with Fresh Fig cardstock.  The Fresh Fig ribbon is oh-so pretty for finishing into a knot.

PP-MayGoodThingsGrow-CardFlat-Lori-DSC06392

The focal wooden piece was stamped with one of the sentiments using Early Espresso Classic ink.  Add one of the larger Fresh Fig pearls to each end and decorated with a couple of the leaf punch-outs.

Coordinating Envelope Box (aka Bag-a-lope)

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to alter one of the envelopes into a little treat gift box.  Decorate it with some of the ribbon and die cut flowers and leaves, and you've got a winner of a little gift box.

PP-MayGoodThingsGrow-EnvelopeBox-Lori-DSC06395

Due to the heaviness of the envelope, it would work best to use Stampin' Up!'s Simply Scored Tool to ensure you get a nice score line to fold on.

PP-MayGoodThingsGrow-BoxSideBack-Lori

Slice a very thin piece off the bottom of the envelope.  Then score at 5/8" on each side, and 3/4" on the bottom.  Snip up from the bottom to horizontal score line on each side, fold on score lines, adhere the bottom together, and decorate.

To get more inspiration for alternative ideas creating with the March Paper Pumpkin kit, make sure you visit the other A Paper Pumpkin Thing Group members' blogs to see what projects they have created to share with you.  I'll be on your heals to soak in the new ideas and inspiration.

Ask A Stupid Question Day with Tabs for Everything!!

Can you believe that there is such a day as "Ask A Stupid Question Day"???  Apparently, this started in the early 1980's, and is a holiday that is sometimes celebrated in the United States, usually by school students and teachers. Although Ask a Stupid Question Day's default date is September 28, in practice it is usually observed on the last school day of September.

TabsForEverything-StupidQDay-Lori-DSC05610

We’ve all done it, had that question we wanted to ask that just sounded astoundingly stupid. We’re embarrassed that it even occurred to us, and worse, that we didn’t know the answer when it seemed so simple that it made you slap your forehead and ask for a V8!!  The truth is there is no such thing as a stupid question, except the one that you choose not to ask.

Now, to try and reincarnate this particular day into a handmade greeting card was going to be a challenge.  You see, the mere fact that I'm creating something for this day is because one of my Dream Team members is in charge of posting a crafting challenge in our group each week to help push us to think outside the crafting box...out of our comfort zone.  Eeep!  The only ideas running through my head were to look for stamp sets with some sort of sentiments like "huh" and "duh".  I came across the Tabs for Everything stamp set  in my stash that has all sorts of single words and small phrases that could be grouped to make small statements/sentences.  **squeal**

TabsForEveryone-AskAStupidQDayFlat-Lori-DSC05616

Once I found the perfect words, I knew that I needed to include the question mark die found with the Large Alphabet Letters Framelits.  I remember (many moons ago) the old joke would be to answer back to the question "now if I knew the answer, I wouldn't be asking you, now would I?!!"  It was always a "duh" moment with laughter to follow.  haha!

TabsForEverything-AskAStupidQClose-Lori-DSC05617

COOL TIPS!

  • When you want to make a statement without using dimensionals, all you have to do is die cut or punch multiples of the same image, glue all of the layers together, and, VOILA!!  Dimension without dimensionals!
  • The Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper isn't just for Christmas (brand new in the Holiday catalog).  Those gingham patterns are AH-mazing!! and will enhance any holiday or theme.
  • There are tiny shapes of square and rectangles found in the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies set that help frame small words and phrases.  I love to think outside the box.  teehehe!

I hope you found some laughs and enjoyment with my card share today. I challenge you to create a card, scrapbook page, or whatever based on any "special" daily holiday.  Here is the website that lists all sorts of bizarre, unique, special and otherwise different days to celebrate.  Have fun!

Need Stamps and Supplies?  If you are in the U.S., I would be more than thrilled and very appreciative to have you order from My Online Store.  I live to inspire and love to help you get your creative spark lit.  I offer a wonderful Dreamers Loyalty Rewards Program with the opportunity to earn a free shopping spree!  (Check out the deets here).  To make your shopping experience super easy, you can click on the product images found at the bottom of this post.  To receive a monthly "Thank You" gift, make sure to use October's Hostess Code:  YTTAFVPQNOTE:  If your order is over $150, do not use the monthly code!  You will still earn Dreamers Loyalty Reward Points, but it's because you will want the Stampin' Rewards from Stampin' Up! for yourself.  Any questions?  Please feel free to email me.

Creative Inking Blog Hop -- Two-Step Stamping with Lovely Friends!!

CreativeInking-HeaderImage

Hello, my lovely stamping and crafter friends!  Welcome to July's Creative Inking Blog Hop!!  This month we are featuring cards/projects that involve a 'two-step stamping' process.  What the heck is that, right?  This technique involves more than one stamped image to demonstrate contrast in colors that are stamped in layers over top of each other.  One image is usually a solid/base layer; and the 2nd image will be more highlights, solid fills or an overlay to adjoin the image together.  The end result is really cool!

You may be starting from here at my blog, Lori Mueller - Stampin' Dreams, or you may have come here from the very talented Sandy Mott's blog. Please be sure to click the 'Next' button (found below) to move along the Creative Inking blog hop. If you get off track at any time, the full line up below will help you move along from blog to blog.

CreativeInkingHop-2StepStampLovelyFriends-Lori-DSC05427

I have been anxious to use a new stamp set I ordered called "Lovely Friends" for my project share.  PLUS, it comes bundled with the coordinating Lovely Laurel Thinlits Dies at a 10% savings.  YEAH!! Both of these items can be viewed in my product list illustrated at the bottom of this post.  I just love this larger-than-life sentiment because it really strikes an emotional cord for me.  I have a few very dear friends that I haven't done well keeping in touch with over the last year, so they definitely need to know just how much they mean to me.

Creative Tips:

  • In keeping a clean and simple card layout and incorporate the two-step stamping technique, the large sentiment was inked with Basic Black Archival ink and stamped onto a layer of Vellum Cardstock.  Due to the less porous texture of the vellum, set it aside for an extra few minutes to dry.  Or, you can use the Heat Tool on the lowest setting to dry.
  • The two-step technique involves the 2 large flower images in the stamp set.  The colors are Dapper Denim, Crushed Curry, Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst.  The solid (lighter) color was done as a 2nd rendition stamping (ink image, stamp off onto scrap paper, then stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock).  The accent layer image was inked and stamped over top of the first image.  Putting the 2 stamped images together generates fun depth and brings this flower to life.

CreativeInkingHop-2StepStampLovelyFriendsFlowers-Lori-DSC05435

  • Using the coordinating Framelit, die cut each flower and arrange and glue directly to the front of the card base.

CreativeInkingHop-2StepStampLovelyFriendsOpen-Lori-DSC05435

  • Adhere the Vellum/sentiment layer with a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the top and set in place on the card front.  This allows the subtleness of the color to come through, but not steal the focal point of the sentiment.

CreativeInkingHop-2StepStampLovelyFriendsFlat-Lori-DSC05433

  • The Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon is a perfect coordinating accent...nice thin ribbon that is lovely to tie into knots and bows.  Plus, because the Vellum is see thru, the ribbon helps hide the visual of the Tear & Tape Adhesive underneath.
  • The mini sequences come from the new spools of Mini Sequin Trim (Gold, Silver and Black) and is perfect for a dainty touch of bling.
    .

Don't forget!  If you don't have any of the products I used, you'll want to make sure to submit your order through my online store.  I hope you will give it a try.
