During this (almost) year-long pandemic, the one diagnosis that has not stopped, or slowed down, are the dreaded uttered words ... "you have Cancer".  A day that one will never forget. Outside of having friends and family by your side to help keep your spirits high during the days of chemo treatments, daily chores around the house and moments of saddness and bleh...there is one image in the Darling Donkeys stamp set that will brighten your day to help kick Cancer to the curb.

When I first saw the Darling Donkeys stamp set in the Sale-A-Bration brochure, this particular Donkey gave me the brightest vision to create this card.  The cardbase is Sahara Sand with two different patterns of the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper (also a Sale-A-Bration freebie) layered onto Soft Suede cardstock.  I chose to go outside the traditional rectangular or square layering of the designer paper because I wanted the Darling Donkey to be the focus and not get lost in all the circles.

I inked the donkey image with Early Espresso and colored with Stampin' Blends (Crumb Cake–light & dark; Smoky Slate–light & dark; and, Light Soft Suede).  After hand cutting the image, I adhered him to a Vellum Circle die cut from the Layering Circles Dies set that measures 1-7/8" using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I tucked the sentiment inked with Rococo Rose and die cut with a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies set between the donkey and Vellum circle.

The Playful Alphabet Dies were perfect to cut from Sahara Sand cardstock that was adhered to a sheet of Foam Adhesive.  They all rest on the smallest scallop rectangle layer die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies set that was cut from Soft Suede cardstock.

Before setting everything into place, I added a strand of the Braided Linen Trim to hide the seam connecting the two patterned papers.  It was perfect color to compliment the card base and Playful Alphabet letters.  Cancer stinks!  but with good spirits, a strong faith, tons of support from family and friends, and the Darling Donkeys...cancer will not win!
